Gary Lowe uses RP-Xâ„¢ and Bluestuff pads in his BMW 335i race car

Racing driver, Gary Lowe, has entered his first competitive race in his freshly-built E92 BMW 335i in the 750MC Armed Forces Challenge round at Silverstone recently.

The race follows a very promising shakedown session earlier in the year at Donington Park.

Lowe has opted for 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-Xâ„¢ motorsport brake pads for the front axle, as well as 91´«Ã½â€™ Bluestuff NDX pads (rear) and GD discs (all-round).

You can read how it all panned out below in Gary’s own words below…

“This weekend, we attended Rounds 1 and 2 of the Armed Forces Race Challenge at Silverstone National Circuit.

“Making the results even more special, this marked the very first race weekend for the car and myself, making it a huge milestone after 18 months of work preparing the car myself to get it race ready.”

“The weekend proved challenging from the outset, with intermittent boost issues that unfortunately remained unresolved throughout both races. Despite the setbacks, we kept pushing and were able to bring the car home in both races, securing a strong P3 in class during Race 1 and improving to P2 in class in Race 2.

“A huge positive from the weekend was the performance of the 91´«Ã½ package. The RP-Xâ„¢ pads paired with the Bluestuff pads and discs performed flawlessly throughout the weekend, delivering consistent stopping power with zero brake fade and remaining sharp and reliable across both races.”

“Massive thanks to the Army Sports Car Racing Team, 91´«Ã½, and KARLYONE CARE LTD for all of their continued support throughout the weekend. Your backing makes it possible for us to keep pushing forward, even during difficult race weekends.

“We’ll regroup, resolve the boost issues, and come back stronger for the next round at Snetterton 300 on the 20th of June.â€

Chris Levy uses Greenstuff pads in his lightweight Monoposto race car

The Monoposto Race Club has been offering cost-effective single-seater racing in the UK for over 60 years.

Chris Levy competes in the championship’s F3B class in his Dallara F397, complete with 91´«Ã½â€™ Greenstuff pads.

The most recent round took the series back to the iconic Silverstone GP circuit, where Levy secured fourth-in-class.

Read how it all panned out in his own words below…

“It wasn’t without bad luck, as a high-speed spin at Abbey caused flat spots on the tyres, resulting in switching to last year’s tyres.

“In Race 1, I was very tentative due to rain during the race, so we were a little disappointed with P16 overall and P6 in class.”

“Rounds 4 and 5 of the Monoposto Championship were again at Silverstone, on the full GP circuit.

“A 42-car field, we qualified 14th overall and 4th in the F3B class.

“Race 1: we had a good race – we were catching 3rd, but sadly the race finished. We did finish 12th overall too.

“Race 2: we unfortunately were taken out at the very first corner.

“Our next race is at Snetterton in July…â€

Max Symonds uses 91´«Ã½ Racing’s GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs

Wiltshire-based motorcycle racer, Max Symonds has been competing in the British Superbike Championship’s National Superstock category for a number of years.

The rider, who also won Castle Combe Circuit’s NG Road Racing ‘King of Combe’ race in 2025, switched from his Yamaha R1 to a Honda CBR 1000RR Fireblade last year, continuing to use this bike and its 91´«Ã½ Racing’s GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs setup for the 2026 season.

Following some extensive testing at the start of the year across Europe and an NG Road Racing outing at Brands Hatch earlier in the year, we next caught up with Symonds after a stint of testing and another NG Road Racing weekend across April.

Read how the month panned out in his own words below…

Snetterton Test Day

“We started the month with a test day at Snetterton – my first laps of the circuit on the Fireblade. The main aim was to establish a solid base setting on the bike and get back up to speed around the track having not raced here last year.

“Strict noise limits on the day, combined with some changeable weather, meant we didn’t get as much time on track as we’d have liked. However, as the conditions improved towards the end of the afternoon we managed to put some good laps together and came away with a good setting for the race event back here later in the year.â€

Cadwell Park – NG Road Racing Round 2

“After taking four wins and setting a new lap record at round one, we decided to enter the second event of the NG Road Racing Season at Cadwell Park.

“Saturday was a solid start, qualifying second in both the Powerbike and Open classes and taking a pair of second-place finishes in the races. Overnight, we made some changes to the bike set-up and I worked on a few adjustments to my riding style. This made big improvements for Sunday as we went on to take two wins after some really close races and fast, consistent lap times.â€

Oulton Park – BSB Pre-Season Test

“Our first official BSB event of the year. Two full days on track gave us the chance to run through a wide range of set-up options and really get the bike working the way we want it to.

“I was happy to put in a new personal best lap time and to be lapping with pretty consistent pace throughout. The test was a lot of hard work with a total of 90 laps logged over the two days which was all worth it as the bike is starting to feel exactly how I want it and we left Oulton Park with a big smile on our faces.â€

Donington Park – Test Day

“Having missed the official BSB test there earlier in the month, it was important to get some laps in round here ahead of the race later in the season.

“Cold temperatures and high winds made the morning session tricky, but as the weather improved through the afternoon I was able to put in some strong lap times. We finished the day happy with the progress made and confident going into the start of the BSB season.â€

Stuart Egdell is competing in the French national drifting championship

Pro drifter, Stuart Egdell, continues his partnership with 91´«Ã½ as he once again carries out another season of the Drift France championship.

After several successful years of relying on 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-Xâ„¢ brake pads, Egdell’s formidable 2JZ-powered S14A Nissan Silvia was upgraded further for the 2025 season, with the addition of a six-piston Apollo Big Brake Kit that helped propel him to great results in last year’s season.

We caught up with Egdell off the back of his debutant 2026 round at Circuit du Val de Vienne, where despite some setbacks, it was a positive insight into the year ahead for the team.

Check out his race report below…

“Drift France Round 1 certainly set the season off with a bang!

“With the car doing double duty—Luke competing in Pro and myself in Elite – it made for a challenging weekend full of highs and lows. Luke received a wildcard entry to compete at the home track of LM Autosport 86 at Val d’Vienne just a few weeks before the event, which meant a huge push from the whole team to get everything dialled in for the season opener.”

“The event kicked off on Friday with media day. This included practice sessions and passenger runs for sponsors, the public, and championship officials. During testing, I was able to really push the car to its limits, although the day ended slightly early after breaking a lower arm on a rumble strip. The team worked hard that evening to repair and realign everything, getting the car ready for Saturday.

“Saturday consisted of practice and qualifying. During practice, Luke unfortunately bent the steering arm twice, but thanks to support from another driver, we were able to get back out in time for qualifying. With the Pro class running first in worsening weather conditions, Luke delivered a strong performance and secured 5th place.”

“I followed in the Elite qualifying session and managed a solid first run scoring 75 points, placing me 7th. On my second run, I pushed harder and went wider, but a slight wheel drop on clip 5 meant I matched my previous score—frustrating, as it likely cost a top 3 position.

“Sunday was race day. Luke drove a strong Top 16 battle to secure a place in the Top 8, but unfortunately had to withdraw due to a cracked rear diff plate causing an oil leak on track. Despite this, he finished an impressive 7th place in his first ever CFD event—great job!”

“After a rapid repair, the car was ready for my Top 32 battle. However, we quickly discovered a major loss of power. Post-run checks revealed a split inlet plenum, causing a significant loss of boost across the rev range. Up against a 1000hp competitor on one of the fastest tracks of the season, it was always going to be tough. I gave it everything, but multiple corrections in the chase run ultimately cost the battle.

“Overall, Round 1 was an incredible start to the season and a true team effort under pressure. It’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting CFD seasons yet.

“As always, thank you for your continued support—we look forward to seeing you all at the next event. Round 2 is just two weeks away, featuring an all-night battle at Vesoul.”

Dave Barrett competes in the Modified Ford Series with his Mk4 Fiesta

Dave Barrett is competing in the 2026 Modified Ford Series, piloting his modified Mk4 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec within the Class C category (normally aspirated, dual-valve engines up to 1850cc/multi-valve engines up to 1750cc).

Following a spell using 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-Xâ„¢ and 91´«Ã½ Greenstuff brake pads in 2024, Barrett relied on RP-1â„¢ friction material (front) and Bluestuff brake pads (rear) across the 2025 season, with great results achieved. He’s decided to continue using this winning braking formula for this year’s action too.

We caught up with Dave after the first round of the year, held at Cheshire’s Oulton Park recently, where he achieved a maximum points hall with class wins in both races entered. You can read how it all panned out in his own words below…

Qualifying

“An early start for qualifying at 08:30 at a wet Oulton Park. 28 cars on the grid and a respectable 17th on the grid for race one, which considering the classes of the cars on the grid was a great achievement. Lots of others complained of little to no grip on the circuit but I never found it an issue during the session and had total confidence in the car.â€

Race One

“With a pack of higher-class cars behind me, keeping my place in the middle of the pack was always going to be challenge and although off the start a couple of places were lost, as the race evolved and progressed, places were taken back and good clean racing was had by all on circuit. The car was faultless and the brakes remain a key part in being able to brake later than others, giving me an advantage heading into heavy braking zones on the international circuit. Maximum points and a class win were secured and leading to a good place on the grid for race two and its typically unpredictable April weather.â€

Race Two

“Tyre choice was key for race two, with torrential rain followed by warm spells of sunshine and the choice of tyres was left until the last second in the hope of gaining an advantage in the race. I opted for an intermediate tyre and it paid off; turn one was tricky at the start and caution was applied through the next couple of laps with cars on the wet choice of tyres making the most of the conditions whilst they could.

“However, a dry line appeared fairly quickly with just a few wet and damp sections remaining, especially in the braking zones at Cascades and Lodge.

“Pace-wise – considering the tyre choice and conditions – was good again, with a further advantage in key braking zones and happy to report a further class win and a maximum points haul for the weekend.

“The conditions were tough and challenging and yet again, 91´«Ã½ Racing came through the test giving me confidence throughout.â€

The EBC-equipped driver competes in the Caterham Seven Championship UK

British Caterham racer, Carl Jones, is undertaking another season in the top-tier Caterham Seven Championship UK in his 420R-badged machine.

At the start of 2023, Jones reached out to 91´«Ã½ Racing for some upgraded stopping power, proceeding to use RP-Xâ„¢ motorsport brake pads on the front axle, and Bluestuff NDX brake pads on the rear – a combination he has continued to use to this day.

Following multiple podiums across 2025, we caught up with Jones fresh off the back of his first 2026 round at Silverstone, where a DNF in Race 1 was pivoted into spectacular victory in the second outing of the weekend.

Read how the weekend panned out below in his own words…

“What a weekend of contrasts at Silverstone. From the frustration of a last-lap mechanical failure whilst running strongly in Race 1, to fighting through the entire field in treacherous wet conditions to take Race 2 victory — including the fastest lap of the race. A weekend that truly tested every aspect of our package, and one I am incredibly proud of.â€

Qualifying – 6th

“A solid start to the weekend, securing P6 overall and placing us firmly within contention for the race ahead. The lap gave us strong confidence in the car’s balance heading into Race 1.â€

Race 1 – DNF

“Race 1 was a genuine disappointment, though not without significant positives. From sixth on the grid, we quickly moved to the front and led the race for over half the distance — demonstrating real pace and racecraft. A potential podium, and possibly P2, was very much within our grasp. Heartbreakingly, a mechanical failure on the final lap brought our race to a premature end. The pace shown throughout was hugely encouraging and the team’s work all weekend was commendable.â€

Race 2 – P1 Victory + Fastest Lap

“Race 2 will be one to remember. Starting from the back of the 420R grid on a fully saturated track, and running on tyres I had never used in wet conditions before, the challenge was clear. Rather than letting the uncertainty affect our approach, we stayed focused, built a strong rhythm from the opening laps, and began working our way methodically through the field. The wet conditions demanded complete concentration, and the car responded superbly. We overtook competitor after competitor, ultimately crossing the line in first place — with the fastest lap of the race to our name. A hard-fought, fully deserved victory.â€

Looking Ahead

“This weekend has given us great momentum. The speed is clearly there, and so is the ability to perform under pressure in difficult conditions. We will review the Race 1 mechanical failure thoroughly to ensure it cannot be repeated, and we head to the next round with confidence and determination.

“A huge and heartfelt thank you to every one of our sponsors — your continued support is what makes weekends like this possible. We are proud to represent you on track and look forward to doing so again at Snetterton.â€

Following some extensive testing at the start of the year across Europe, we next caught up with Symonds after his first race of the year – an NG Road Racing outing at Brands Hatch – ahead of his BSB season start.

Here, Symonds dominated in the Powerbike and Open classes, as you can read below in his team’s own words…

“Symonds Racing enjoyed a highly successful outing at the NG Road Racing season opener at Brands Hatch, delivering a dominant performance across both the Powerbike and Open classes.

“Max qualified on pole position in both categories, went on to win all four races he entered, and broke both class lap records including setting a new outright NG lap record at Brands Hatch Indy in the process,†his team explains.

“With the British Superbike season still a few weeks away, we decided to enter round one of the NG Road Racing championship to gain valuable track time.

“Friday’s test day was especially useful, with lots of track sessions allowing us to test new rear suspension components and a find a good direction for the season ahead.

“Saturday started with qualifying sessions for both classes, where I was able to put the bike on pole in each with some strong laps.

“Unfortunately, due to some work that needed doing on the bike between sessions, we decided to sit out the first Open race to make sure everything was 100% ready. With no championship points on the line, it made sense not to take any unnecessary risks.

“I got back out in the first Powerbike race and managed to take a lights to flag victory, setting a new lap record of 47.2 seconds along the way.”

“Sunday morning’s second Open race was a bit more of a challenge, starting from the back of the grid after missing Saturday’s race. This meant a pretty hectic start to the race as I worked my way through from 34th to the lead by lap eight. Once I hit the front I was then able to pull out a gap and take the win by a couple of seconds.

“Starting from pole again in the next Powerbike race, I made the most of the clear track ahead and really pushed on putting together a strong run of laps under my previous best. By lap 5 I had set a new lap record of 46.7 seconds – half a second quicker than the day before.

“In the final Open race of the weekend, I had a bit of a moment coming out of turn one, but was able to regroup and control the race from the front to take another win, along with a new class lap record of 47.0 seconds.

“Having achieved everything we wanted from the weekend, we decided to sit out the final Powerbike race, saving tyres and ending the weekend on a high.

“Overall, the weekend couldn’t have gone better, we made lots of progress with the bike set-up and came away with a load of wins and laps records!â€

Following some great rides towards the back end of 2025, Symonds has since been busy testing for another busy summer of racing ahead, laying down rubber at three tracks across Europe recently.

Read his thoughts on testing and the year ahead in his own words below…

“The 2026 pre-season has been all about putting in lots of laps, learning as much as possible, and building momentum for the year ahead. Lots of time on track at ±Ê´Ç°ù³Ù¾±³¾Ã£´Ç, Almería and Castle Combe – three totally different tracks – have all helped me and the team step things up in different ways.â€

±Ê´Ç°ù³Ù¾±³¾Ã£´Ç

“We kicked things off at the awesome ±Ê´Ç°ù³Ù¾±³¾Ã£´Ç circuit that has everything from blind crests and heavy braking sections to big drops super high speed corners. To go fast here you’ve got to commit everywhere.

“It ended up being a really fun and productive weekend from the first session right through to the last. From the first session out, things just started clicking and we kept building from there. Being away from a race event meant I could enjoy riding the bike without any pressure and have the opportunity to try different things with my riding style and position on the bike that I would not normally have the time to do.

“I managed to put in a new PB too, which was a bonus but the bigger win was the progress made with my riding.â€

Almeria

“Next up was Almeria. A tight, technical track with not much time to breathe. With five days on track, this one was all about getting my head down and putting the laps in.

“I had a plan in mind to make the most of the track time we had which started out with just doing lots and lots on laps using hard tyres that would last the distance. This allowed me to learn the track, understand how to ride around the lack of grip that came with harder compound tyres, and work more on my riding style on the bike. The second half of the test was all about starting to try different electronic settings to understand what different changes felt like, what suited my riding style and what didn’t, and what I would need to test further back in the UK. The Final runs of the test were about putting in some real fast laps, despite some high winds I improved my lap time by almost a second to be the fastest rider in the test out of about 135 people.â€

Castle Combe

“Last stop was Castle Combe Circuit. It was bright and sunny, but absolutely freezing. Even so, we managed to get some really solid laps in and worked through a busy program of electronic setups with the traction control, anti-wheel, power modes, and engine braking.

“Despite the colder weather it felt great to be back at Combe. There’s something about riding at my home track that hits a bit different, especially right before the season starts. We ended the day and finished off this run of testing with lots more learnt about the bike …not quite time to go BSB racing just yet as for some extra testing in March I will be joining NG Road Racing, my old club, for their pre-season test day at Castle Combe and first round of racing at Brands Hatch.â€

The Armed Forces race team uses 91´«Ã½ Racing components

True Heroes Racing is a motorcycle racing outfit supporting riders in various race series across the UK.

Priding itself on being the UK’s first and only not-for-profit motorcycle race team dedicated to supporting wounded, injured and sick UK Armed Forces personnel and veterans, the team helps to engage, empower and inspire.

All riders are currently using 91´«Ã½ Racing’s GPFAX race pads and XC floating discs, and you can read a season round-up in the team’s own words below…

“As the 2025 season draws to a close, we’re proud to share a look back at what has been a transformative and inspiring year for True Heroes Racing — a season filled with growth and gratitude.

“We began the 2025 season with a bold and symbolic shift — moving away from Ducati machinery after a decade-long partnership and stepping into a new era with Honda. This transition wasn’t just about changing bikes; it was about embracing a fresh challenge and continuing to evolve as a team.

“At the same time, our presence in the ROKiT OFF BMW F900R Cup also evolved with Leon Wilton, who had previously represented us on the Ducati platform, took on a new challenge with a totally different type of machine. We were proud to welcome Corporal Kenny Macleod to the team — an active RAF serviceman and passionate racer — who joined us through our ongoing collaboration with military motorsport associations. His arrival not only strengthened our rider lineup but also reinforced our mission to provide meaningful opportunities for our beneficiaries.”

“Unfortunately, early in the season, we experienced a change of rider in our Superstock line-up. While this could have left us without a rider at a critical point in the year, the strength and depth of our team — both past and present — quickly came to the fore.

“Rather than scrambling for external replacements, two of our former riders stepped up without hesitation. Dave “Salty†Sellers and Dave ‘Scrawn’ Mackay, both of whom had previously raced for us on the Ducati and Suzuki platforms, returned to the fold as wildcards. Their willingness to jump back in and represent the team not only ensured we remained competitive but also demonstrated the enduring loyalty and camaraderie that defines True Heroes Racing.”

“Later in the year, when both Daves were unavailable, we welcomed Paul Cunvin, a Royal Airforce veteran, who took on the Honda ride. Initially joining us to get a feel for the team environment, Paul quickly proved himself a capable and committed addition, stepping into the role with confidence and professionalism.

“Looking ahead to the 2026 season, True Heroes Racing is proud to continue growing as more people reach out for support and opportunities to be part of our mission. The team has confirmed its rider line-up for the season, and it reflects both continuity and exciting new chapters.”

“In the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship, we’ll see Charlie White return to the grid, now joined by Paul Cunvin, a Royal Airforce veteran who made his debut with us in 2025.

“In the ROKiT OFF BMW F900R Cup, both Leon Wilton and Cpl Kenny Macleod will return to the grid, bringing consistency, experience and a shared commitment to pushing themselves and the team forward.

“But perhaps the most powerful story of the season will be that of Chris, our inaugural Grassroots Pathway rider and a veteran of the Parachute Regiment. After competing in the Clubman 600 and Phoenix Open classes, Chris is now stepping up to the British Superbike Championship grid in the ROKiT OFF BMW F900R Cup — a remarkable achievement in itself.â€

Max Symonds uses 91´«Ã½ Racing’s GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs

Wiltshire-based motorcycle racer, Max Symonds has been competing in another season in the British Superbike Championship’s National Superstock category.

The rider, who also won Castle Combe Circuit’s NG Road Racing ‘King of Combe’ race this year, switched from his Yamaha R1 to a Honda CBR 1000RR Fireblade for 2025, continuing to use 91´«Ã½ Racing’s GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs to provide the stopping power.

With great results achieved at the most recent Cadwell Park round of BSB (after Symonds returned to the saddle following an ankle injury which put him out of action over the summer months), Symonds ended the year on a high at the final round at Kent’s Brands Hatch Circuit.

Read more about the weekend in his team’s own words below…

“Symonds Racing wrapped up the BSB season on a high, securing multiple points finishes, continuing the momentum since my return from injury. The team’s hard work throughout the season culminated in a strong performance at the final round at Brands Hatch.

“The Donington and Oulton Park rounds proved challenging for me, as I’d missed both the pre-season test and the early-season races at those circuits. Despite the limited track time, we quickly found a competitive setup and showed impressive pace. Unfortunately, being forced off track during the race at Donington Park and then failing to complete a lap in qualifying at Oulton Park – due to bike issues and the session being cut short – meant I had to start from the back of the grid, which ended any real chance of standout results.”

“Brands Hatch was a completely different story. Having visited the circuit earlier in the season for my first ride back after injury, we arrived with a solid base setup and I had valuable recent on-track experience. That allowed us to hit the ground running and show strong pace throughout practice and qualifying.

“Saturday featured two 12-lap races where I delivered solid performances, finishing 14th and 15th. My best lap of 1:27.6 was over a second quicker than my previous personal best at the circuit.

“I felt great on the bike all weekend and was really pleased we were able to make the most of riding here earlier in the year. Both races were great results and could have been even better if not for a safety car in the first race and a red flag in the second, which slowed my progress further up the results sheet.”

“Sunday brought new challenges, with heavy rain and strong winds making for tricky conditions. Starting from P14, I was pushed back on the opening lap and then took a few laps to adjust to the wet conditions with it being my first rain race in a couple of years. Once I found my rhythm, I started picking riders off one by one to finish 16th, just narrowly missing out on a third consecutive points result.

“Overall, Brands Hatch was the strongest round of the BSB season for me and the team. It really showcased the pace we would have been capable of throughout the year, had it not been for the extended injury layoff at the start of the season. With the season now concluded, we’ll take a short break to rest and reset before heading to ±Ê´Ç°ù³Ù¾±³¾Ã£´Ç at the end of November for pre-season testing ahead of 2026.â€
