Following a successful 2025 campaign and promising first round at Brands Hatch, we next caught up with the trio fresh from the second round at Lincolnshire鈥檚 Cadwell Park.

Read all about it in their own words below鈥

鈥淪piceboy Racing took on a stacked Championship Clubman 600 grid at Cadwell Park for Round 2 of the NGRRC season, delivering a weekend of close racing, big personal improvements, and hard-fought battles across the field. While Tim Petts led the charge at the front of the midfield, Jon Otter showed clear progression and Nev Otter dug deep through a challenging weekend.鈥

Qualifying 鈥 Saturday

After splitting test duties, Jon Otter carried strong momentum into the weekend 鈥撀燾onsistently improving on last year鈥檚 pace and banking PBs across sessions. Nev Otter, meanwhile, was left searching for answers, struggling to unlock pace 鈥 a theme that would continue.鈥

Tim Petts (#27): P13 鈥 1:42.5 (PB)
Jon Otter (#103): P30 鈥 1:46.5
Nev Otter (#69): P34 鈥 1:47.6

鈥淲ith a mixed grid across the team, all eyes turned to race day to see who could move forward.鈥

Race One 鈥 Saturday

鈥淭im Petts launched straight into the fight at the sharp end of the midfield, getting a clean start and running with the front group before making decisive moves late on.鈥

Tim Petts (#27): P9 鈥 Top 10 finish | 1:41.3 (PB)

鈥淔urther back, Nev made early progress before a bold move into Mansfield didn鈥檛 quite come off, forcing him onto the grass and costing valuable ground.鈥

Nev Otter (#69): P30

鈥淛on Otter focused on consistency, keeping things tidy and building a solid platform for the races ahead.鈥

Jon Otter (#103): P32

Race Two 鈥 Sunday Morning

鈥淎nother strong launch from Tim saw him right in the mix again 鈥 this time even closer to the front.鈥

Tim Petts (#27): P7 鈥 1:40.7 (PB, fastest lap of the weekend)

鈥淯p to 6th into Turn 1 and running as high as 5th, Tim showed serious pace before arm pump set in late race. Even so, it was a standout result and a big step forward on the new bike.

鈥淏ehind, Nev absolutely rocketed off the line鈥攇aining eight places on lap one鈥攂ut couldn鈥檛 hold the momentum as the race unfolded.鈥

Nev Otter (#69): P30

鈥淛on had a strong start but lost ground in the opening corners. From there, he regrouped and stayed right in the fight, finishing just behind Nev while setting a new personal best.鈥

Jon Otter (#103): P31 鈥 1:45.5 (PB)

Race Three 鈥 Sunday Afternoon

鈥淪tarting P7, Tim dropped slightly at the start but stayed consistent, keeping himself firmly in the top 10 fight.鈥

Tim Petts (#27): P10

鈥淔urther back, the father-son battle added extra spice. Jon had his sights set on finally getting one over Nev鈥攂ut Nev had other ideas.鈥

Nev Otter (#69): P19

鈥淎 much stronger ride saw Nev finally find some rhythm, charging up to 17th before just losing a couple of spots late on after a hard fight.鈥

Jon Otter (#103): P25

鈥淛on delivered another solid performance, getting involved in multiple battles and coming out on top鈥攃ontinuing his steady progression and race craft development.鈥

Weekend Summary

鈥淎 weekend of contrasts, but clear progress across the Spiceboy Racing team.

鈥淭im Petts led from the front with three top 10 finishes, the fastest lap of the weekend, and over 3 seconds improvement on last year鈥檚 pace鈥攁ll while still adapting to his new machine.

鈥淛on Otter showed some of the biggest gains, consistently improving lap times and race craft, highlighted by multiple PBs and strong race consistency.

鈥淣ev Otter endured a tougher weekend but showed resilience, with a strong recovery ride in Race Three proving the pace is still there when it clicks.鈥

Tim Petts (#27):
鈥淢ega weekend鈥攔eally starting to click with the new weapon (aka Keith!). Big step forward in pace and great to be fighting at the front. Plenty more to come.鈥

鈥淲ith momentum building, valuable lessons learned, and pace improving across the board, Spiceboy Racing heads to the next round ready to push on.鈥

Tim Petts, Jon Otter and Nev Otter all entrust 91传媒 components on their array of 600cc Kawasaki and Triumph machines 鈥 including GPFAX front brake pads, Double-H sintered rear brake pads and XC-Series floating brake discs.

We caught up with the trio of riders as they had just finished their late-summer round at Derbyshire鈥檚 Donington Park Circuit.

You can read how it all panned out in the team鈥檚 own words below鈥

鈥淭he North Gloucester Road Racing Club (NGRRC) hosted its sixth round of the 2025 season at the legendary Donington Park circuit. Fast, flowing, and technical, Donington always provides a stern test for riders, and this weekend was no exception.

鈥淪piceBoy Racing fielded a three鈥搑ider line-up in the fiercely competitive Clubman 600 class, with #69 Nev Otter, #103 Jon Otter, and #27 Tim Petts representing the team.鈥

Saturday 鈥 Qualifying

鈥淭he Clubman 600 field was one of the biggest of the season, with 41 riders lining up to qualify. All three SpiceBoy Racing riders delivered solid performances to secure their grid spots.鈥

  • #27 Tim Petts led the team effort, placing 16th, showing strong pace through the fast downhill sections.
  • #69 Nev Otter put in a consistent run to claim 23rd, setting himself up for midfield battles.
  • #103 Jon Otter fought hard in the traffic-heavy session, securing 38th on the grid in his first Donington outing with NGRRC.

Saturday 鈥 Race 1

鈥淎fter another great start, Nev Otter rocketed through the pack to an incredible 11th place by the end of lap one, while Tim picked up a position to move into 15th, and Jon climbed to 35th.

鈥淣ev held his ground well in the early stages, but as the race settled, he began to lose a little pace, allowing riders to close in.

鈥淏y mid-distance, Nev and Tim found themselves running nose-to-tail in 14th and 15th positions. What followed was an exciting intra-team battle, with the two SpiceBoy Racing riders trading lines and pushing each other lap after lap.

鈥淓ventually, Tim found a way past Nev, securing 14th place, with Nev just behind in 15th. Meanwhile, Jon continued to push forward, gaining places through consistency and determination to cross the line in 32nd.鈥

Sunday 鈥 Races 2 & 3

鈥淯nfortunately, Nev Otter (#69) was forced to withdraw from the remainder of the weekend due to a mechanical issue, ending his promising run after Saturday鈥檚 strong opening race. That left Tim and Jon to fly the SpiceBoy Racing flag on Sunday.

鈥淚n Race 2, Tim Petts (#27) delivered another solid midfield performance, finishing 14th once again. Importantly, his pace continued to improve across the race distance, dipping into the high 1:16s 鈥 a clear step forward in consistency and outright speed.

鈥淛on Otter (#103) also made progress, finding more confidence with each lap and improving his times to secure 34th at the flag.

鈥淚n Race 3, Tim produced his best result of the weekend, finishing 13th. He also set a new personal best lap time of 1:16.6, underlining his continued improvement and strong race pace while battling firmly in the midfield.

鈥淛on Otter (#103) once again showed grit and determination, completing the full race distance to finish 33rd, gaining valuable experience despite finishing outside the points.鈥

Team Summary

鈥淚t was a weekend of determination, development, and team spirit for SpiceBoy Racing at Donington Park. The highlight came in Race 1, where Nev and Tim fought an exciting battle to finish nose-to-tail in 14th and 15th, while Jon produced a strong ride through the field. Though Nev鈥檚 weekend was cut short by a mechanical issue, Tim carried his momentum into Sunday with a pair of midfield results capped by 13th in Race 3 and a personal-best lap time. Jon capped his weekend by completing every race distance, showing resilience and steady progress in one of the toughest grids of the season. The team now looks forward to Round 7, eager to build on the progress made at Donington as the Clubman 600 season enters its final stages.鈥

The first round of the year took them to Lincolnshire鈥檚 scenic Cadwell Park Circuit, where the team showed promise despite some hurdles across the weekend.

You can read how it all panned out in the team鈥檚 own words below鈥

鈥淲e arrived at Cadwell Park late Thursday to prepare for testing the following day.鈥

Testing

鈥淭im spun some great laps in testing, finishing the day in in the 1:42s.

鈥淭his was Jon鈥檚 first ever race weekend, and not unsurprisingly, he was nervous to say the least. After finishing the first session 2:06, he ended the day with a 1:57, so some good improvement during the sessions.

鈥淣ev was under the weather all weekend and decided not to take part in testing.鈥

Race 1 (Saturday)

鈥淎ll three went out in warm up and then into qualifying. Tim qualified P12, Nev P15 and Jon P35. All in all, a satisfactory session.鈥

鈥淎 rather frenetic start to race one saw some close calls in the middle of the pack, and a SpiceBoy battle began to emerge with Tim still in his P12 starting position and Nev up two places to P13, whilst Jon in his first ever race remained in P35.

鈥淥n the second lap, Nev passed Tim into his favourite corner at Park, promoting himself to P12, only for Tim to re-take him on the last lap in the same spot. Nev continued to lose another two spots on the final lap due to his visor fogging up.鈥

Tim: P13 (1:44.184)*

Nev: P15 (1:43.501)*

Jon: P33 (1:56.826)*

Race 2 (Sunday)

鈥淲ith starting positions carried over from the prior race finishing positions, we set off into Coppice (Turn 1) for another bash, Tim making the better of the starts, however this was unfortunately short lived as the Gremlin of the Gooseneck (Turn 6) struck and took Tim clean out of the race (rider ok). It was left to Nev and Jon to pick up the mantle, however the fogging on Nev鈥檚 visor was even worse during this race, having to hold the visor open whilst riding down the straights upwards of 120mph! This eventually led to him to out-brake himself at the downhill Mansfield corner, dropping him well down the field. Jon continued his learning experience finishing where he started in P33 but again upping his lap time.

Tim: DNF

Nev: P28 (1:46.086)*

Jon: P33 (1:55.528)*

Race 3 (Sunday)

鈥淲ith a mixed-up grid for race three, Tim starting right at the back in P37 due to his DNF, Nev in P28 and Jon P33 鈥 this had the makings of a classic SpiceBoy battle. Tim however had other ideas and with one of his famous electric starts was soon gone, however Jon did manage to pass his Dad on the start and a little battle ensued until Nev managed to squeeze past him at Barn at the end of the second lap. Nev was so exhausted due to his illness didn鈥檛 really progress any further up the grid.

鈥淎 satisfying weekend, though Tim and Nev will believe more points could have been scored, but just shows you never know what鈥檚 going to happen in motorbike racing.鈥

King of the Mountain Trophy

鈥淚n addition to the racing, we have a little internal battle for our own trophy at the Cadwell event each year. The trophy is awarded to the SpiceBoy with the fastest race lap of the meeting, and this year the trophy will be travelling back to Norfolk with Tim beating Nev by less than .4 of a second, well done Tim.

鈥淲e move to Round two at Snetterton for our next instalment of the 2025 season.鈥

EBC-equipped Neville Otter is competing in the 2024 HM Racing Clubman 600 class

Motorcycle racer, Neville Otter, is currently competing in the HM Racing Clubman 600 class of the NGRRC.

Otter uses 91传媒鈥 GPFAX brake pads and XC-Series floating discs on his Kawasaki ZX6-R race bike.

The first two rounds of the year were something of a rollercoaster for Otter, who is still recovering from an accident in the off-season. Round 3 took the roadshow to Pembrey Circuit in South Wales, where the racer saw a lot of promise with some great rides that put him in good stead for the rest of the season ahead.

Read how he got on in his own words below鈥

鈥淎fter a journey in excess of eight hours due to closure of M4 near Cardiff, we arrived at Pembrey on the Thursday evening, in readiness for the following day鈥檚 testing.鈥

Testing

鈥淵et another troublesome test day, still finding it hard to re-gain my lost confidence, managing a 1:07.4 lap in one of the afternoon sessions聽鈥 some 3+ seconds from my track PB.鈥

Saturday (Race Day)

鈥淥ut in qualifying session one soon after 9am, and set a disappointing 1:08.623 qualifying time, not that it mattered as it happens鈥︹

Race 1 (Saturday)

鈥淒ue to an unfortunate incident during one of the later qualifying sessions, the schedule got pushed back by over an hour. And due to poor comms at the circuit, we hadn鈥檛 realised my race had been called, panic set in as we hastily got ready to go out. By the time I鈥檇 reached the assembly point, the rest of the riders where on their warm-up lap, and I was told to filter in after they鈥檇 passed and to start from the back of the grid P35!

鈥淎 decent start saw me pass three riders off the line, and a further four by the time we exited turn one!

鈥淭he rest of the race was uneventful, but I did improve my time to a 1:06.4, bring it home in P24, (P12 in class).鈥

Race 2 (Sunday)

鈥淪tarting P24 was an improvement from the previous day. Not such a good start off the line this time, but was hopeful of making places up at turn one again.

鈥淕oing on the outside (my preferred option), I got caught up in the mele and was forced wide onto a damp patch on the outside of the corner. Unperturbed, I manged to hold on to a decent position circa P17, achieving my fastest lap of the weekend on lap聽 2 (1:05.744), but unfortunately couldn鈥檛 hang on to those in front of me, and faded towards the end, losing a couple of places in the process.

鈥淔inishing P19 & P9 in class, I was buoyed by the improvement.鈥

Race 3 (Sunday)

鈥淪tarting P19, I was hopeful of continued improvement, but a poor start and then running off the circuit on the exit of turn one put me in all but last position. We managed to pull a few places backs by the end of the race, finishing in P18 (P7 in class).

鈥淚n summary, an inconsistent weekend, but starting to feel more at one with the bike again, with a few more points added to the tally.

鈥淲ith this weekend鈥檚 results, I have moved up to eighth position in the Clubman 600 championship, moving onto Brands Hatch in four weeks鈥 time, hoping that the improvement continues in Kent countryside!鈥

The EBC-equipped racer battled it out at the Lincolnshire circuit

Motorcycle racer, Neville Otter, is currently competing in the HM Racing Clubman 600 class of the NGRRC.

Otter uses 91传媒鈥 GPFAX brake pads and XC-Series floating discs on his Kawasaki ZX6-R race bike.

Following the first round of the series at Oulton Park, the next stop was Lincolnshire鈥檚 Cadwell Park, where it was a case of more thrills and spills for Otter, who is still recovering from a significant injury but showing promise despite this.

You can hear how the weekend unfolded in his own words below.

鈥淲e arrived at Cadwell Park late Wednesday evening for a track day, booked with MSV, for the following day attempting to gain more track time. This quickly went pear shaped on the Thursday morning when going to a noise test found that I could only select first gear! So, the morning was lost as we got down and replaced the gearbox, managing only the three afternoon sessions!

鈥淲ith the weather set fair for the weekend according to the forecast, we were looking forward to some good action and to getting more laps under my belt to help erase the memory of the Spanish crash.鈥

Testing

鈥淭esting was just that: testing! My times wouldn鈥檛 come, with my best lap of the day from the five sessions on circuit being some four seconds from my PB, leaving me frustrated.鈥

Saturday (Race Day)

鈥淓arly morning warm up, continued the theme of disappointing lap times. Just goes to show how important confidence is in this sport!

鈥淲e went out in qualifying with spits of rain, this soon turned into a light shower, soaking most of the circuit and the session was red flagged, and we were given time to change to wets.

鈥淕oing back out in the knowledge that not everyone would have had the time and/or the luxury of wet tyres on wheels ready to go, I envisaged this would give me an opportunity to get up the grid. However, I quickly found that I had a significant vibration at 100mph which was very unsettling, resulting in only a P22 start.鈥

Race 1 (Saturday)

鈥淐ompounding my misery, I had an awful start in the first race with a number of riders passing me before Turn 1. I had the task of getting past some of those slower riders in the subsequent laps. After doing so I found the gap to the pack was too great for me to bridge, I did try in vain and crossed the line P24 鈥 P11 in class.鈥

Race 2 (Sunday)

鈥淪tarting P24 was not where I anticipated to be starting at any point over the weekend! The start was better but yet again struggled to match the pace of those in front of me, and finished P23 鈥 P11 in class. Was gifted a place however after Kallum Bedwell on his R6 passed me on park straight on the last lap, struggling to keep with him, he unfortunately (for him), binned it at the penultimate corner.鈥

Race 3 (Sunday)

鈥淲ith the starting position dictated by Race 2鈥檚 finishing position we set off on the warm-up lap on what was becoming an ever increasingly cooler day, with two riders falling with cold tyre temps!

鈥淲e set off, with a decent start but conscious of the tyre temperatures on the first lap, where upon we saw yet another two riders fall by the wayside. After finding some space on circuit, I came under attack and was passed by Kallum again. This only served to fire me up and we swapped places three more times in the following lap. Riding defensively for the next two laps, I managed to cross the line in front with a P16 鈥 P8 in class with my fastest laps of the weekend to boot.

鈥淚n summary, a difficult weekend at my favourite circuit, but did mange to finish on a little high and as always left the circuit with a smile on my face.

鈥淭hese result mean that I stand 9th in the Clubman 600 championship, moving onto Pembrey in six weeks鈥 time, and the hope that we can improve our performances in South Wales.鈥

The first round of 2024 took the roadshow to Cheshire鈥檚 Oulton Park recently, where mixed conditions and continuing to recover from previous injuries meant Otter took a while to get into his stride, before showing more promise for the year ahead.

You can read how the weekend unfolded in his own words below.

鈥淎rriving at Oulton on Thursday afternoon, my confidence was low due to crashes in my last two outings and carrying an injury from the most recent one in Almeria, testing for the forthcoming season.

鈥淭his, combined with a very wintery feel to the weather and the fact that I had to rebuild the bike in only four days, was only exacerbating the situation. As a result, my only goal for the weekend was for both me and the bike to survive, and hopefully bag a few points on the way.鈥

Testing

鈥淗aving to listen to my own advice and set the goal of simply surviving the weekend and slowly build times and confidence.

鈥淭he first four sessions, we slowly improved on a predominantly wet/damp and very cold track, until the point where all recent events seemingly caught up with me, and fatigue set in during Session 5 and I duly parked the bike for the day!鈥

Saturday (Race Day)

鈥淲oke up feeling none the better than when I’d arrived, with my neck injury aggravated by the previous day鈥檚 testing, we set the bike up for qualifying

鈥淎s we arrived at assembly to join the qualifying session, I was told it was raining on the back straight, not the best news when on dry tyres! Rolling down pit lane, the rain was now upon us, I decided to go back to fit wets believing it to be too wet for dry tyres at this point.

鈥淕ot them fitted with only 12 seconds of the session remaining, needless to say I didn’t manage to get out to set a time!鈥

Race 1

鈥淪tarting 41st and last on the damp grid, off went the red start lights, passing several riders into turn one and then throughout the race on a circuit that continued to dry with each tour.

鈥淟ap times were much faster by the end of the race and a great battle with the rider who ultimately finished in front of me for a couple of laps towards the end of the race.

鈥淔inishing P24, I was very pleased with my progress.鈥

Race 2

鈥淪tarting P24 was a significant improvement, this time on an all but dry circuit, however still cold, we managed a great start passing a number of riders on the first lap.

鈥淒uring the second lap nearly outbraking myself going into Island bend, got the rear in the air and a big tank slapper, before getting the bike settled for Shell Oils, at this point remembering my goal of coming home in one piece, I settled into a steady pace. A red flag on Lap 4 finished the race early, with a P20 finish overall and P8 in class.

鈥淪o, in summary, what started out as a poor weekend finished on a high, only a second off of my PB in ropey conditions and with low confidence starting the weekend, much more progress than I’d anticipated.鈥
