Marcus Hudson has relied on EBC’s Green kart pads

Kart racer Marcus Hudson is campaigning in the Super 4 British Championship for the 2025 season.

EBC’s Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid continues to be the brake setup of choice for Hudson and his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

Following more solid driving at Fulbeck recently, Hudson soon found himself at the final round of 2025, set at Hunts Kart Racing Club, Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire.

Read how the action panned out in the team’s own words below…

Heat 1 (Grid: 12th)

“Lap 3 brought chaos out of Turn 3 onto the back straight; four karts tangled out of Turn 3 and suddenly I was threading my way through karts pointing all directions. Both me and Kart 27 had to back off to avoid the carnage, and I merged back into 8th. A few laps later, I tried to follow a couple of karts making a move on Kart 73 into the final corner. I dived up the inside too, but as he moved across, I clipped his rear tyre and ended up stuck on top of his kart for a few seconds.

That cost me two positions, dropping me to 10th with just two laps to go. I regrouped quickly, retook the two spots I had just lost, and crossed the line in 8th.â€

Heat 2 (Grid: 18th)

“Got off to a lightning start, darting past three karts into Turn 1. It was elbows out and chaotic, but I emerged in 13th – up five positions in just a few hundred meters. On Lap 3, I sent it up the inside into Turn 1 to grab 12th. A few laps later, I out-braked Kart 14 into the last corner, had the inside line, and powered past down the start/finish straight to move up to 11th. I was 2.6 seconds behind 10th at that stage, and managed to close the gap down to 1.4 seconds by the chequered flag.â€

Heat 3 (Grid: 4th)

“The weather turned just as we went onto the dummy grid – rain hammering down, forcing all 21 drivers to swap slicks for wets. We couldn’t touch the kart setup though, so it was wet tyres on a dry setup. On Lap 1, disaster nearly struck on the back straight: Kart 8 was stopped at 90 degrees across the track. As I approached, he crept forward slightly and I had to swerve onto the grass to avoid him. Another kart wasn’t so lucky and hit him square on, resulting in an ankle injury for that driver. From there, my kart was almost undriveable – no braking, no turn-in, and no traction out of the corners. I slipped backwards lap by lap, but wrestled it home in 10th.â€

Final

“Back in the paddock we finally got the kart set up for the wet, with a fresh set of tyres bolted on. Starting 9th on the grid in pouring rain, the kart felt much stronger. I latched onto the back of 8th, looking for a way past. But on Lap 4, heading down the start/finish straight, I hit standing water and aquaplaned. The kart snapped sideways, spinning me 360 degrees into the tyre barriers, then another 360 back onto the track. Luckily, I kept the engine alive and stayed in 1st gear, flooring it immediately to avoid getting collected in the spray by the chasing pack. The Battenburg flag was thrown so the marshals could rebuild the barriers I’d demolished. My kart still drove, but the front bumper was scraping the floor and the engine wasn’t delivering power smoothly. I suspected a cracked rear engine mount from the impact, but decided to push on. Despite the damage, I only lost five spots in the crash and restarted 14th. I fought as best as I could with the wounded kart, clawing back three positions to finish 11th.

“We finished in 8th place in the 2025 standings out of 20 drivers. The year had some highs and sometimes we were at the wrong place at the wrong time. We will work in the off season to come back fighting.Ìý

“Looking forward to the presentation Awards Evening in January in Coventry.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support through this season and previous seasons as it is much appreciated and helps a lot.â€

Marcus Hudson uses EBC’s Green kart pads in the real world

Kart Racer, Marcus Hudson, competes in the Super 4 British Championship, using EBC’s Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid in his ABKC 250cc National kart.

During the off-season, he kept his eye in by competing in various sim racing championships, not least the gruelling with the Offline Racing team in a GT3-class Porsche.

With 49 teams entering, Offline Racing secured impressive results after the endurance stint, as you can find out below in Marcus’ own words…

“Offline Racing competed in the iracing Bathurst 12 Hour race. Phil Lvov started the race on a damp, greasy circuit and got up to 5th in his first stint.

“Marcus Hudson then took over for his first stint and moved from 26th to 11th in torrential rain, but the rain stop half-way through his stint and the circuit was getting drier and drier.

“Andrew Caskey took over and had a moment coming out of The Chase and went off. Luckily, he had no damage and came into the pits and changed to slicks as the circuit was drying – he was one of the first to do this.”

“He made great progress up to 4th in his triple stint (3 hours non-stop). Unfortunately, the rain fell again and we pitted one lap later than we should and lot just over 40 seconds due to being on slicks on a wet circuit.

“Phil started another stint (over half the race gone and he hadn’t seen a dry circuit). It did dry out for the end of his stint and Marcus did the final stint and the team finished in 11th place out of 49 teams.â€

Stay tuned to hear how Marcus gets on in his real-world racing as the season starts again soon…

Marcus Hudson uses EBC’s Green kart pads as he competes in this British Championship class

Young kart racer, Marcus Hudson once again competed in the Super 4 British Championship for 2024.

EBC’s Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid is the brake setup of choice for Hudson and his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

The final race of 2024 took the roadshow to Cambridgeshire’s Hunts Kart Racing Club in Kimbolton, where he fought off technical issues across the weekend to finish his championship in a respectable 7th position.

Find out how this round went down in Marcus’ own words below…

Heat 1 (Grid: 9th)

“As I headed into lap 2 going into Stow, I sent it up the inside of number 34. Later in the same lap as we entered Dan Weldon Corner, I slid up the inside of 53, I was gaining on 27 and a few laps later passed him out of Kestrel and finished in 7th.â€

Heat 2Ìý(Grid: 2nd)

“There was a crash between two karts in the first corner on the first lap and the circuit had a virtual safety car for the incident that happened in the Willows. This took 2 laps to clear up, I used the time to try and keep some heat in the tyres. On the restart, I had no traction out of the last corner and was a sitting duck going into the first corner. During the race I was struggling with traction out of the slow corners and slipped back to 6th.ÌýWe changed the setup for the next heat to help with the traction issue.â€

Heat 3Ìý(Grid: 14th)

“Made a good start, but was 5-wide and couldn’t get any room for a manoeuvre, I had no space anywhere to capitalise on the good start but I made up a position going into the first corner. 59 in the Willows slid under me, I knew he was carrying too much speed and he slid wide and I managed to cut back underneath. On lap 8, number 2 had a water hose issue which put water onto the circuit as we entered Dan Weldon Corner, which we approach at 98mph, 7 of us were following very close and had no time to do anything and all 7 span off. As I was spinning, I managed to control it so I kept the kart on the circuit, however I was facing the wrong way! I thought if I can spin it back around quicker than the other guys that have gone off that’s 7 places I can make up, I did a 180 spin and off I went and gained 6 places moving me up to 8th.Ìý The alterations we made to the setup didn’t help improve the traction issue.â€

Final

“We lined up 7th on the grid for the final and, with the issues we had over the weekend, this wasn’t bad. Unfortunately, as we set off the grid, I knew I still had the traction issue. I fought as best I could with what I had underneath me but dropped to 10th halfway through the race. I was pushing 9th and trying everything to pass him but on entry to some slow corners I was all over him but lost the advantage on the exit. It was frustrating that the main passing place going into Stow I couldn’t utilise as coming out of the last corner I couldn’t get the power down and lost ground on him meaning I was too far back to send it in Stow. It was frustrating that we couldn’t sort the traction issue out and this meant we couldn’t move forward. This was the last round of the British Championship and with the final standings announced we finished the season in 7th place just missing out on 6th by just a single point.

“Looking forward to the presentation Awards Evening in January in Coventry.Ìý

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my sponsors for your support through this season and previous seasons as it is much appreciated and helps a lot.â€

The racer relies on EBC’s Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid

Young kart racer, Marcus Hudson is once again competing in the Super 4 British Championship for another season.

EBC’s Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid is the brake setup of choice for Hudson and his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

The penultimate round of the championship took the roadshow to Cumbria Kart Racing Club, where Hudson once again took part in some epic battles to retain his impressive season standings.

Find out how it panned out in his own words below…

Super 4 2024 British Championship | Round 6: Rowrah

Location: Cumbria Kart Racing Club, Rowrah, CumbriaÌý

Heat 1 (Grid: 7th)

“For this round, the circuit decided we would start the races with rolling starts instead of the standing starts which we usually use,Ìý possibly due to the fact that the circuit is quite narrow. I haven’t done a rolling start for over 10 years, but managed a great start, however the pole sitter didn’t and most of us ended up on the grass taking avoiding action. In the melee, I rejoined in 7th place to my surprise. Halfway through the race, I was having a good battle with number 7, trading places for a few laps back and forth as we went into the left and right hairpins. One lap I’d get passed then the next he would then I’d passed him on the exit of the left-hand hairpin but I was then in the wrong place for the right hairpin tried to make it stick but lost out on the exit. I was right up his bumper but he never made a mistake for me to capitalize on. I finished 0.4 seconds off him in 7th.â€

Heat 2Ìý(Grid: 11th)

“I made up four places on the first lap, moving up to 7th. After the first lap, I was behind a slower kart and knew I had to make a move that lap – if not I would lose touch with the rest of the field. On the second from last corner, I had a great exit and licked the stamp and sent it (in Riccardo’s words!) up the inside on the last corner, making the move stick. I was 2.1 seconds behind 7th and after 5 laps had closed the gap, I was trying to make a move but it was difficult to overtake around this circuit. Us two in turn closed the gap to 6th we all were jostling for 6th. As we crossed the finish line three wide 0.3 seconds covered 6th to myself in 8th.â€

Heat 3Ìý(Grid: 1st)

“I didn’t get a good start but was in 3rd place and running well until on lap 5 where I lost drive from the kart and had to pull off the circuit to retire. Back in the paddock, we investigated the problem and found that the front sprocket had sheered the inner splines off. This was frustrating as we were running well in that race.â€

Final

“We lined up 9th for the final and moved up to 8th by the end of the first lap and were pushing hard to pass 7th but couldn’t find a way to pass. With three laps remaining, we moved up a position as 2nd place retired from the final and finally finished 7th.â€

“We are currently sitting 5th in the championship with one round to go and next stop is Kimbolton in Cambridgeshire for the final round of the championship.

“Thanks to all my sponsors Maxview, Silkolene, Charmed Interiors, NGK Spark Plugs, 91´«Ã½, HairStyles, Carter Haulage and Listers BMW.â€

Marcus Hudson uses EBC’s Green kart pads as he competes in this British Championship class

Young kart racer, Marcus Hudson is once again competing in the Super 4 British Championship for another season.

EBC’s Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid is the brake setup of choice for Hudson and his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

With a rollercoaster of a season so far, battling treacherous weather conditions and other pitfalls with some fantastic driving, Hudson was faced with more adversity as the series headed to Wigan’s Three Sisters Circuit recently.

Find out how he braved the storm in his own words below…

Heat 1 (Grid: 6th)

“Off the start, I got pushed off into the grass on the outside as I tried to gain two places. I got a much better start than the row in front, but as a result of being pushed onto the grass, I lost five places. Early on in the race, #59 went out and in the middle of the race a further two karts retired, which meant we came home in 7th position. I was unpleasantly surprised in the race as the kart had no grip, but on Saturday the kart was handling well and that was on older tyres. In the race, we had the new set of slicks on which would normally meant more grip. We altered the kart to give us more grip for Heat 2.â€

Heat 2 (Grid: 13th)

“We moved up to 9th by the second lap and the kart initially felt way better than Heat 1, unfortunately on Lap 4, the rear engine mount broke and I had to retire the kart.â€

Heat 3 (Grid: 5th)

“From the start we, had nowhere to go and lost some places meaning we were down to 10th position after Lap 1. On Lap 2, #56 span in the Valley, and we just managed to miss him and not lose any places. Later in the race we got a run on #34 down the Conrod Straight and over the hill, we darted out of the slipstream and went up the inside as we approached Coward’s Summit down the hill. A few laps later, #4 slowed down in Lunar Corner with an issue, which moved us up another position. We ended up finishing in 6th.â€

Final (Grid: 7th)

“We lined up 7th for the final. Finally, after a good start, we had some luck and managed to move up to 5th in the first lap. Half-way through the race, I started to move under braking and cornering. The front seat stay broke, so the seat was not secure and moving around. This caused me to lose pace as I was moving around so much than when applying the brake or throttle my feet were all over the place! Fortunately, we only lost two places, finally finishing in 7th position.â€

“It was a bit of an up and down weekend, with good pace on Saturday but then struggles with the new tyres on the Sunday.

“We are currently sitting 5th in the championship with two rounds to go. Next stop is Rowrah in Cumbria.

Thanks to all my sponsors, including 91´«Ã½.â€

The racer relies on EBC’s Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid

Kart racer Marcus Hudson is once again relying on 91´«Ã½â€™ components to help him with his Northern Karting Federation Super 4 British Championship campaign for another year.

Hudson chooses EBC’s Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid for his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

His most recent outing took him to Hunts Kart Racing Club, Kimbolton (Huntingdon), where Hudson achieved some more impressive results to add to his points haul so far.

You can read more about his weekend in his own words below.

Heat 1 (grid: 11th)

“We made up two positions going into the first corner (Stow), but were on the outside and got hung out on the outside through the Willows, dropping down a position. As I was heading down the back straight I was up to 10th. On lap two, I passed the ninth-position driver going into Kimbolton corner. On the following lap, I was on the tail of eight and passed him straight away heading into Stow corner and slowed down on the apex to stop them from re-overtaking. The gap stayed the same to seventh, I couldn’t catch them but they were not pulling away from me. I finished just over three seconds from ninth. I wasn’t happy with the speed of the kart down the back straight so in the paddock between heat 1 and heat 2 we changed the gearing to see if this would help.â€

Heat 2Ìý(grid: 9th)

“We started in a good battle with six karts from fifth place to 10th, with myself in ninth place there was only 1.6 seconds between all of us. Places were changing every lap and on lap 7, it was my turn to do some overtaking and I made the pass up to eighth going into Stow corner. For the remainder of the race, I tried my best but just couldn’t get past seventh, he just got me by 0.6 seconds. The gearing did help us with more speed down the back straight so was pleased that changing it worked.â€

Heat 3Ìý(grid: 2nd)

“We held second place for the first half of the race and were overtaken by last year’s champion. Then a couple of laps later I was down to fourth. I made a mistake going into Stow and lost a place which I was then hung out and couldn’t get back in resulting in another place being lost. We finished in sixth place.â€

Final (grid: 7th)

“We started seventh on the grid but in Stow corner lost a position. On lap 4, we moved back up to seventh. I was quicker than sixth and after being stuck behind him for three laps, I made a moveÌýinto the first corner (Stow) and as he slightly went into the corner too quick he pushed wide and I cut back underneath him and made the pass coming out of the corner. After I made the pass, I pulled away but two laps later on lap 9 the kart was making a weird noise when cornering. I retired the kart returning to the pits and found that the rear engine mount bolt had snapped, causing the engine to move. After a race of attrition, we finished 10th.

“It was frustrating to have a DNF in the final when running sixth, but it was the first DNF of the season.Ìý

“Next stop is my home circuit – Fulbeck – for the final round of the British ChampionshipÌýon October 21st/22nd – the last time out there we had a win so that’s what we’ll be trying to repeat.

“Thanks to all my sponsors Maxview, Silkolene, Studio 11 Architecture, Charmed Interiors, NGK Spark Plugs, 91´«Ã½, HairStyles, Carter Haulage and Lister BMW.â€

The young racer faced another weekend of thrills and spills, putting in some solid drives for great results

Rising kart star Jensen Powers returned to the fabled Hunts Kart Racing Club in Kimbolton back in mid-March, for the third round of the venue’s MSUK Club Championship.

Following , Powers faced several hurdles over the weekend, illustrating his mature, strong mindset to overcome these and still achieve impressive results.

Powers continues to proudly use 91´«Ã½â€™ kart brake pads on his competitive machine for another year.

You can read how this latest weekend panned out in his team’s own words below.

“This weekend took us back to Hunts Kart Racing Club in Kimbolton for Round 3 of their own Club Championship.

“Saturday was a full day of testing on worn tyres, with conditions surprisingly good given the snowfall on the previous day.

“Jensen drove very well, trying new lines through turn two and the entry into the Bus Stop which both proved fruitful on the stopwatch.

“And so, to race day on Sunday, firstly having to scrub-in new slick tyres on a very treacherous damp track, doing very well just to keep it on the black stuff.

“Unfortunately, the same could not be said in Heat 1 when, after gaining several places at the start, Jens was later T-boned by a kart returning to the track after their own spill, which would later cost him his place in the A-Final.”

“Heat 2 put JP on row three, and again with a great start and avoiding the first corner melee, he was soon into second place behind teammate Milo Manderson. Try as he might, Jens could not hold off the more experienced British Championship contenders for long enough, but did drag his kart over the line in a very respectable 6th place, a one-place gain from his starting position.

“The A-Final missed by only one place put JP on pole for the very first time in Junior Rotax in the B-Final. Jensen’s anxieties were palpable as he waited on the dummy grid for the previous race to finish.

“He kept the baying pack at bay and made a great start, stretching his lead. But his inexperience in starting on the front row meant that he braked a touch too early into turn one and again was punted from the race by the kart behind.

“But boy, something clicked, because Jensen then proceeded to drive his best ever race in his JDR MS-KART by getting his head down a making every overtaking opportunity count, clawing back some six places to finish 9th overall.

“A very mature performance and lots learnt this weekend, which will hopefully benefit in next week’s Club Championship at Shenington Kart Circuit.

“Thanks to Jack Dex and all his merry men, Time Races Engines, First Place Finish, Lemsford Building and in particular 91´«Ã½ for their golden – well, orange – nuggets… If you know, then you know!â€

The rising star had another successful weekend at Cambridgeshire’s Kimbolton Circuit

Following a rollercoaster of a season so far, kart racer Harry Hannam recently raced in the fifth round of the British Kart Championship at Hunts Kart Racing Club in Kimbolton, specifically in the Junior Rotax Rookie category.

It was here that Harry managed to achieve his first pole position in the national series, with some impressive racing allowing him to continue his lead in the Rookie championship.

Supported by 91´«Ã½, Hannam uses the firm’s brake pads on his high-performance kart. You can read how his weekend unfolded in his father Dan’s words below.

“This was our first visit to Kimbolton in Junior Max, which was compromised by the cancellation of the official test day, meaning Harry only had two eight-minute sessions to familiarise himself with the Cambridgeshire circuit against 50 other Junior Max drivers.

“Qualification: After a season of problems in qualifying, finally, it all came together with Harry putting it in pole position!

“Heat 1:ÌýLeading off of pole, it was a tough first heat and the inexperience showed as Harry fought hard to finish 9th.

“Heat 2: We had a better race in Heat 2. Rain affected the last few laps, resulting in a contact between multiple drivers as they battled to keep the slick tyre-shod karts on the wet track. Harry crossed the line in 5th,Ìýonly to receive a harsh penalty, placing him down into 21st.

“Pre-Final:ÌýDecent Pre-Final, with Harry gaining 10 places (from 27th up to 17th), no penalties and finishing in 17th.

“Final: It was an exciting final, battling for the top 10 positions and ending up in 13thÌýat the chequered flag.

“A weekend ruined by a harsh penalty in Heat 1, but we still sit 15th in the British Championship and more importantly, are still leading the Rookie Championship.â€

EBC-equipped kart racer achieved impressive results at Kimbolton recently

Marcus Hudson is currently competing in the 2022 Northern Karting Federation Super 4 Championship.

Following a good first round at Fulbeck, the series next took him to Cambridgeshire’s Kimbolton recently, where the racer continued his consistently solid driving to achieve 6th overall across the weekend.

Hudson uses 91´«Ã½â€™ Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid on his ABKC 250cc National kart. You can read how the weekend unfolded in his own words below.

“Saturday’s practice didn’t go too well, with some issues hindering the team’s progress. We managed to get to the bottom of the issue, but this meant we only managed one clean session out of the six, which put us on the back foot for the following day’s racing as we didn’t have any time setting the kart up for the circuit.

Heat 1 (grid: 11th)

“Off the start, I got up to 8th and was battling through Stow corner. Going into Willows, I got hit onto the sausage kerb on the exit which unsettled the kart and lost me momentum going onto the back straight, losing the passes I made up off the start. On the next lap, I made a move going into Stow on the inside and took a place, which I also repeated the following lap. A couple of laps later, there was a slow-moving kart ahead which then pulled off the circuit retiring. Then later in the race made up another position.

Heat 2 (grid: 9th)

“In the heat, the kart wasn’t as stable at the rear as I would have liked and tried all race long to get past fellow drivers but couldn’t find a way by.

Heat 3 (grid: 2nd)

“We altered the setup of the kart slightly to help with the handling for heat 3 and this worked well. I managed to secure 4th place – just over five seconds ahead of 5th.

Final

“In the final, I was battling for 5th place and was right behind 5th and 6th. Near the end of the race got 6th. Then I set my sights on 5th and with three laps left was all over the kart in front but unfortunately yellows flags were out at the two places where I was a lot stronger and I had to settle for 6th place.Ìý

“I was annoyed with the result in the final as we could have had 5th if it wasn’t for the two corners that had yellow flags waving, but considering where we were at the end of practice Saturday, the results were good. Next stop is Shennington in Oxfordshire in June.â€
