EBC-Equipped Smyth Continues Northern Irish Campaign on R1 Superbike

Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of Parker Car Transport Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB’s Superstock 600 series for the last few years, using EBC braking components for much of this time.

Following a successful weekend in the debutant round of the Ulster Superbike Championship at Bishopscourt recently to start his season, we next caught up with Smyth at the opening round of the Big 3 Series with Belfast & District Motorcycle Club, held across two Northern Ireland venues: Bishopscourt and Kirkistown circuits.

Smyth uses 91��ý Racing’s GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs on his new Parker Car Transport Yamaha R1 Superbike this year.

Easter Weekend Race Report – Bishopscourt & Kirkistown

“What a weekend! Wet, wild, and full of learning as we kicked off the Easter race weekend with action at Bishopscourt Race Circuit on Friday and Saturday, followed by Kirkistown Circuit on Easter Monday for the opening round of the Big 3 Series with Belfast & District Motorcycle Club.”

Friday – Bishopscourt (Qualifying):
“Conditions were tough. It was our first time running the Parker Yamaha R1 in the wet, and without any wet testing beforehand, we qualified 28th on the grid. Unfortunately, due to torrential rain, the rest of the day’s racing was cancelled.”

Saturday – Bishopscourt (Race Day):
“The weather was still sketchy, but thanks to the MRRCI and their effort to clear standing water with a road sweeper, racing was able to go ahead.

“Race 1: Got a poor start but fought through the field to finish 15th.

“Race 2: Much stronger start, battled my way up to a solid 9^th-place finish. Really enjoyed carving through the pack in tricky conditions.”

Easter Monday – Kirkistown (Big 3 Series Round 1):
“Morning delays due to changing weather and red flags pushed qualifying back to 1pm.

“Unfortunately, I ran into issues just two laps in and had to return to the pits. Managed one flying lap when I got back out, but it wasn’t enough to improve much, placing me 15th on the grid.

“Race: With more delays pushing racing into the late afternoon, we only got one race in. Starting from 15th, I fought my way through a tough field to finish in 7th place. Still feel like there’s more potential to unlock on the bigger bike, but we’re moving in the right direction.”

Weekend Summary:
“A challenging but productive weekend in extremely wet conditions. Happy to have scored valuable championship points, currently sitting 10th overall. My goal was to be inside the top 10 across the weekend – and I’m proud to say I achieved that in every race.

“Massive thanks to the track personnel, flag marshals, medics, and photographers for braving the storm and keeping the wheels turning. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

“Finally, sending best wishes to Loris Britton after a nasty crash at Kirkistown. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

Smyth Begins 2025 Superbike Campaign with Parker Car Transport Racing

We caught up with Smyth as he took part in the debutant 2025 round of the Ulster Superbike Championship at Bishopscourt, where he was trialling a new Parker Car Transport Superbike, complete with 91��ý Racing’s GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs.

Race Report – Bishopscourt USBK Round 1

“The team headed to Bishopscourt Race Circuit for a weekend of firsts, with Parker Car Transport Racing ltd making its mark in new ways. It was Andrew’s debut race on the Parker Car Transport Superbike, while Johnny took on his first-ever race weekend aboard the Moto3. With fantastic weather throughout, conditions were perfect for some thrilling racing.”

Qualifying
“A solid start to the weekend saw us qualify in 15th place. While there was room for improvement, the focus was on gaining experience and setting up for strong race performances.”

Race 1
“A poor start meant we had to fight through the pack, but determination paid off, crossing the line in 11th place. It was a tough race, but valuable lessons were learned for the second outing.”

Race 2
“This time, the start was much stronger, allowing for a more competitive run. Battles raged all the way to the finish, with another 11th-place result. A step in the right direction and a great way to end the weekend.”

EBC-Equipped Smyth Excels at Northern Ireland’s Sunflower Trophy Motorcycle Race

Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of the Andrew Smyth Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB’s Superstock 600 series for the last few years.

Usually riding on a Kawasaki ZX6R 600cc superbike in this championship, Smyth was recently loaned the Parker Car Transport Yamaha R6 race bike for the highly anticipated Sunflower Trophy weekend at Bishopscourt Circuit in County Down, Northern Ireland. Both bikes are equipped with 91��ý Racing’s GPFAX sintered motorsport brake pads (up front) and HH sintered brake pads (on the rear), as well as X-Series floating discs.

“What a weekend on board the Parker Car Transport R6 Yamaha!

“Starting Friday with two wet qualifying sessions in both Supersport and Superbike classes, I was able to qualify in 8th place for the Supersport class and 19th place in the Superbike class on the R6!

“In Supersport race one, I secured 8th place. Superbike race one: I crossed the line in 12th place, being the 2nd Supersport bike across the line.

“Saturday morning began with a damp track for morning warm-up, but conditions soon improved for the day’s racing ahead.

“Superbike race 2: I finished 13th place and the 1st Supersport across the line. Supersport race 2: I crossed the line to take 8th place.”

“In the Sunflower Trophy race, I finished in 14th place across the line, and 3rd Supersport bike.

“Superbike race 3 was a DNS as I planned to put my full concentration into Supersport race 3.

“Supersport race 3: I brought the Parker car transport R6 home in 6th place; I also placed my personal best lap time at Bishopscourt.

“A massive thank you to Gerry from Parker Car Transport for giving me the opportunity to race his Yamaha R6 this weekend! And a massive thank you to the whole team for their effort, time and craic over the weekend. It was great to have Owen Jenner as a team mate this weekend.

Podium for EBC-Equipped Ulster Superbike Racer Smyth

Andrew Smyth entrusts 91��ý components on his Kawasaki race bike

Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of the Andrew Smyth Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB’s Superstock 600 series for the last few years.

Riding on a Kawasaki ZX6R 600cc superbike, Smyth uses 91��ý Racing’s GPFAX sintered motorsport brake pads (up front) and HH sintered brake pads (on the rear), as well as X-Series floating discs.

In-between his BSB campaign, Smyth has found the time to compete in some Ulster Superbike Championship rounds.

The latest Ulster Superbike Championship leg took him to back to Kirkistown Racing Circuit for the fourth round of the 2024 season. Here, Smyth clinched an overall podium after some solid driving across the whole weekend.

“This was a two-day race meeting, with two championship races on each day and also a bonus shootout race.”

Qualifying: 3^rd

“I was happy to come away with 3^rd overall.

EBC BSB Racer Achieves More Podiums in Guest Ulster Superbike Championship

Andrew Smyth uses EBC’s braking components on his Kawasaki race bike

Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of the Andrew Smyth Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB’s Superstock 600 series for the last few years.

As well as the first few rounds of BSB, Smyth has also been competing in some guest series for the first half of 2024, not least in the Ulster Superbike Championship.

The fourth round of this particular series took the roadshow back to Kirkistown Racing Circuit, where Smyth pulled another overall podium out of the bag following a fantastic weekend’s racing action.

Read how he got on below in his own words…

“I recently took part in the fourth round of the Ulster Championship at Kirkistown.”

Qualifying:

“I ended up qualifying on the front row of the grid in 4^th position; whilst I was happy with a front-row start, I wasn’t really feeling very comfortable on the bike so we made a few changes for the first race.”

Race One:

“I got a great start and was able to go with the front guys, still wasn’t getting the feeling I was used to from the bike, but was very happy to bring it home in 3^rd.

Race Two:

“We made some more changes before the start of the race, got off to another great start and this time the bike felt like my own, I crossed the line in 4^th position to give 3^rd overall on the day, so all in all a good day at the office.

“Massive thanks to the Belfast & District Motorcycle Club Limited, Scrutineers, Marshalls and first aid for a very well run event.

“Thanks as always to the guys that keep the wheels turning.”

EBC-Equipped Smyth Shows Promise in Guest Wirral 100 Weekend

The Northern Irish BSB racer stormed through the grids at Oulton Park

Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of the Andrew Smyth Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB’s Superstock 600 series for the last few years.

Smyth has been keeping momentum going during the BSB off-season with a number of guest races, not least the first round of the Ulster Superbike Championship��Ի� the second round at Kirkistown directly after this.

Most recently, Smyth headed to Cheshire’s Oulton Park Circuit for the Wirral 100 Club Bike Championship weekend, where he stormed through the ranks following some poor starting positions, to obtain good results by the end of each race.

You can read how the weekend went down in Smyth’s own words below.

“Arriving at the track early on Friday morning as I had opted to do the MSV track day the day before the races, I had a great day but unfortunately my bike developed a misfire on my final session.

“Dad got to work and tried to eliminate as many things as possible but the problem being we couldn’t test it until Saturday morning, I got out for a couple of laps on Saturday morning and still no joy.

“Dad and Bryan Moore got stuck in again – unfortunately my qualifying session had started and my bike was still in bits but with two minutes to go, I got the call and jumped on and completed a lap, but failed to post a time for the grid which left me starting from 39^th place on row 13.

“Unfortunately, I had no working quick shifter for the rest of the day so it was back to some old-school riding.”

“In Race 1, I got a decent start from the 13^th row and made my way up to 13^th place after one lap, eventually finishing in 6^th place to my delight and having fun coming through the pack.

“Race 2 was another enjoyable race, taking 4^th place at the line in one of the closest finishes I have ever been involved in, with half a second from 1^st to 4^th.

“Big thanks to Alex Duncan for lending me parts and massive thanks to Dad as he never stopped all weekend, also to the Wirral 100 club for a very well run event.

“Shout out to the people that keep the wheels turning.”

Superbike Racer Andrew Smyth Shows Promise at Kirkistown Race

The EBC-equipped racer is warming up for another BSB season

Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of the Andrew Smyth Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB’s Superstock 600 series for the last few years.

During the BSB off-season, he has been competing in various races around Northern Ireland, including the first round of the Ulster Superbike Championship held at Bishopscourt Racing Circuit, Downpatrick, at the end of March, in treacherous conditions.

Directly following on from this race, it was over to Kirkistown Racing Circuit for the second round, which thankfully was set under much more favourable weather.

Andrew’s team explains how he got on here below.

Easter Monday (1 April) – Kirkistown

“I qualified in 3^rd position, feeling very comfortable with my wet setup. In Race 1, I got a good start, but dropped a few positions towards the end of the race, finishing in 5^th position.

“Race 2 was a similar race, with me taking 5^th at the line.”

“My next outing will be Oulton Park for the BSB, in just over three weeks’ time.

“Thanks must go to both of the organising clubs, marshalls, all track personal for two very well-run events. Not forgetting Dad and Krissy for keeping the bike on point, Mum and Jodie for the catering and Ellen on pit board duties.

“Usual shout out to the people that make it happen.”

EBC-Equipped Andrew Smyth Competes in Debutant Ulster Superbike Championship Round

Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of the Andrew Smyth Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB’s Superstock 600 series for the last few years.

During the BSB off-season, he has been competing in various races around Northern Ireland, most recently the first round of the Ulster Superbike Championship held at Bishopscourt Racing Circuit, Downpatrick, at the end of March.

Despite treacherous conditions, Smyth put in some great riding across the weekend, as you can read below in his own words.

“The Temple Motorcycle Club hosted the first round of the Ulster Superbike Championship at Bishopscourt Racing Circuit back in March.

“Just as we had been due to go out for our qualifying session, the dreaded rain that had been forecast decided it would dampen things – it was a quick change from a dry setup to a wet one! Thanks to the team for a quick turnaround, meaning I lost no laps and ended up in P3.

“Onto the race – with a front-row position, I made a decent start, sitting in second place. The rider that was leading took a crash (thankfully he walked away) and the race was red-flagged. After a short delay, the race was restarted and I got a great start again, taking the lead, but to be honest, the conditions were not great, so I was more than happy to settle for 3^rd at the line.”

“Massive thanks to all marshals and club members for trying to keep the show going! Unfortunately, due to the rain the rest of the meeting was abandoned!

“We then took a short trip to Kirkistown Race Circuit and made it our home for the next few days, getting some testing in and making improvements to my setup. I left Kirkistown happy.

“Huge thanks to all of our sponsors new and old for keeping the wheels turning!”

Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of the Andrew Smyth Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB’s Superstock 600 series for the last few years.

His 2023 season saw more success for the racer, as you can read below in his own words.

“This year has been great – racing back home in Northern Ireland in the Ulster Superbike Supersport championship and having gained experience from my years in the British Superbike paddock.��

“Starting the year with finishes in a lower position than I had hoped for, I knew I had to progress. However, by the end of the season, I managed to get a few podiums and be a consistent front-runner.��I finished the season 4^th in the championship, which I am set to improve on in 2024.
