Gary Lowe uses RP-X™ and Bluestuff pads in his BMW 335i race car

Racing driver, Gary Lowe, has entered his first competitive race in his freshly-built E92 BMW 335i in the 750MC Armed Forces Challenge round at Silverstone recently.

The race follows a very promising shakedown session earlier in the year at Donington Park.

Lowe has opted for 91ý Racing’s RP-X™ motorsport brake pads for the front axle, as well as 91ý’ Bluestuff NDX pads (rear) and GD discs (all-round).

You can read how it all panned out below in Gary’s own words below…

“This weekend, we attended Rounds 1 and 2 of the Armed Forces Race Challenge at Silverstone National Circuit.

“Making the results even more special, this marked the very first race weekend for the car and myself, making it a huge milestone after 18 months of work preparing the car myself to get it race ready.”

“The weekend proved challenging from the outset, with intermittent boost issues that unfortunately remained unresolved throughout both races. Despite the setbacks, we kept pushing and were able to bring the car home in both races, securing a strong P3 in class during Race 1 and improving to P2 in class in Race 2.

“A huge positive from the weekend was the performance of the 91ý package. The RP-X™ pads paired with the Bluestuff pads and discs performed flawlessly throughout the weekend, delivering consistent stopping power with zero brake fade and remaining sharp and reliable across both races.”

“Massive thanks to the Army Sports Car Racing Team, 91ý, and KARLYONE CARE LTD for all of their continued support throughout the weekend. Your backing makes it possible for us to keep pushing forward, even during difficult race weekends.

“We’ll regroup, resolve the boost issues, and come back stronger for the next round at Snetterton 300 on the 20th of June.”

Dave Barrett competes in the Modified Ford Series with his Mk4 Fiesta

Dave Barrett is competing in the 2026 Modified Ford Series, piloting his modified Mk4 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec within the Class C category (normally aspirated, dual-valve engines up to 1850cc/multi-valve engines up to 1750cc).

Following a spell using 91ý Racing’s RP-X™ and 91ý Greenstuff brake pads in 2024, Barrett relied on RP-1™ friction material (front) and Bluestuff brake pads (rear) across the 2025 season, with great results achieved. He’s decided to continue using this winning braking formula for this year’s action too.

We caught up with Dave after the first round of the year, held at Cheshire’s Oulton Park recently, where he achieved a maximum points hall with class wins in both races entered. You can read how it all panned out in his own words below…

Qualifying

“An early start for qualifying at 08:30 at a wet Oulton Park. 28 cars on the grid and a respectable 17th on the grid for race one, which considering the classes of the cars on the grid was a great achievement. Lots of others complained of little to no grip on the circuit but I never found it an issue during the session and had total confidence in the car.”

Race One

“With a pack of higher-class cars behind me, keeping my place in the middle of the pack was always going to be challenge and although off the start a couple of places were lost, as the race evolved and progressed, places were taken back and good clean racing was had by all on circuit. The car was faultless and the brakes remain a key part in being able to brake later than others, giving me an advantage heading into heavy braking zones on the international circuit. Maximum points and a class win were secured and leading to a good place on the grid for race two and its typically unpredictable April weather.”

Race Two

“Tyre choice was key for race two, with torrential rain followed by warm spells of sunshine and the choice of tyres was left until the last second in the hope of gaining an advantage in the race. I opted for an intermediate tyre and it paid off; turn one was tricky at the start and caution was applied through the next couple of laps with cars on the wet choice of tyres making the most of the conditions whilst they could.

“However, a dry line appeared fairly quickly with just a few wet and damp sections remaining, especially in the braking zones at Cascades and Lodge.

“Pace-wise – considering the tyre choice and conditions – was good again, with a further advantage in key braking zones and happy to report a further class win and a maximum points haul for the weekend.

“The conditions were tough and challenging and yet again, 91ý Racing came through the test giving me confidence throughout.”

The EBC-equipped driver competes in the Caterham Seven Championship UK

British Caterham racer, Carl Jones, is undertaking another season in the top-tier Caterham Seven Championship UK in his 420R-badged machine.

At the start of 2023, Jones reached out to 91ý Racing for some upgraded stopping power, proceeding to use RP-X™ motorsport brake pads on the front axle, and Bluestuff NDX brake pads on the rear – a combination he has continued to use to this day.

Following multiple podiums across 2025, we caught up with Jones fresh off the back of his first 2026 round at Silverstone, where a DNF in Race 1 was pivoted into spectacular victory in the second outing of the weekend.

Read how the weekend panned out below in his own words…

“What a weekend of contrasts at Silverstone. From the frustration of a last-lap mechanical failure whilst running strongly in Race 1, to fighting through the entire field in treacherous wet conditions to take Race 2 victory — including the fastest lap of the race. A weekend that truly tested every aspect of our package, and one I am incredibly proud of.”

Qualifying – 6th

“A solid start to the weekend, securing P6 overall and placing us firmly within contention for the race ahead. The lap gave us strong confidence in the car’s balance heading into Race 1.”

Race 1 – DNF

“Race 1 was a genuine disappointment, though not without significant positives. From sixth on the grid, we quickly moved to the front and led the race for over half the distance — demonstrating real pace and racecraft. A potential podium, and possibly P2, was very much within our grasp. Heartbreakingly, a mechanical failure on the final lap brought our race to a premature end. The pace shown throughout was hugely encouraging and the team’s work all weekend was commendable.”

Race 2 – P1 Victory + Fastest Lap

“Race 2 will be one to remember. Starting from the back of the 420R grid on a fully saturated track, and running on tyres I had never used in wet conditions before, the challenge was clear. Rather than letting the uncertainty affect our approach, we stayed focused, built a strong rhythm from the opening laps, and began working our way methodically through the field. The wet conditions demanded complete concentration, and the car responded superbly. We overtook competitor after competitor, ultimately crossing the line in first place — with the fastest lap of the race to our name. A hard-fought, fully deserved victory.”

Looking Ahead

“This weekend has given us great momentum. The speed is clearly there, and so is the ability to perform under pressure in difficult conditions. We will review the Race 1 mechanical failure thoroughly to ensure it cannot be repeated, and we head to the next round with confidence and determination.

“A huge and heartfelt thank you to every one of our sponsors — your continued support is what makes weekends like this possible. We are proud to represent you on track and look forward to doing so again at Snetterton.”

Austin Phipps uses Bluestuff pads and GD Sport Rotos on his V8-powered saloon

Arizona-based Austin Phipps of the Mulletsport race team is a professional drifter, currently using a modified 2012 Audi S4 with manual transmission and rear-wheel drive conversion in various drift series across the USA.

We previously caught up with Phipps and the team as they undertook a successful FuelFest event at the back end of 2025 – upgrading to a new engine and EBC’s Bluestuff brake pads in preparation. Alongside the capable pads, Phipps continues to opt for EBC’s GD Sport Rotors, too.

We’ve since caught up with the Mulletsport outfit off the back of their attendance at Round 1 of the Southern Californian HOTPIT Autofest show – a weekend that threw up many challenges and proved to be a big learning curve for the team.

Read how it panned out in Austin’s own words below…

“We thought we caught a lucky break when Flavor Express announced an open drift night at the same venue as Round 1. We left a day early to get some much-needed shakedown laps on the new Icon Pistons motor. Good thing we did…

“After the first lap, we started chasing a crank sensor issue, and the entire night only produced three good laps before we snapped an axle on the gnarly transition off the bank.

“Friday was setup day. We replaced the axle, passed tech, and finished our series photos. Before calling it good, we decided to pull the valve covers and inspect the new aluminum rocker arms. Again, glad we did: four of them had stripped out, sending the rollers somewhere into the motor.

“Thankfully, Brad from German Elite Tuning hadn’t left Arizona for the weekend yet. Even better, we still had our old stainless steel rockers in the engine room. The problem now was finding the missing parts.

“So, we went fishing with a magnet. Starting in the heads and eventually working our way down to the oil pan, we managed to find three solid rollers and the shrapnel from the fourth. We slapped every magnet we could find onto the oil pan and crossed our fingers.

“Brad left at 2AM Saturday morning to make it to Orange Speedway by 7AM. I was in my suit for the driver’s meeting at 8AM while Rich, Andy, Jettlee, and Brad immediately got to work. They replaced the rocker arms, adjusted everything, and filled the motor with fresh Liqui Moly oil.

“We lost about 30 minutes of the first practice hour and only managed one run in Session 1.”

“The first run was conservative. The second… not so much. An overly aggressive entry led to a rough introduction with the wall on the bank.

“Luckily, we had an hour break before the next two-hour practice session. The team tore apart the damaged rear end and zip-tied the car back together just to get me back out there.

“After watching the other drivers run, I made some changes: lower tire pressure, dumped the shocks, and cranked up the boost. Next lap, I felt comfortable in the car. Practice turned into a learning session—timing, references, and figuring out the line. I struggled to put together a clean lap, but I still felt confident going into qualifying with a conservative approach.

“Fresh tires warmed up. Time to go. Starting in second gear proved to be the fastest run-up to the bank during practice. I launched the car, rolled into full throttle, shifted into third—POP. Already committed to the entry, I grabbed a quick handbrake to angle the car into OZ1. That sucked the car straight into the wall. Hit one.

“With zero boost, I stood on the throttle expecting the car to drive away from the wall. Instead, it floated hard back into it—breaking a wheel and rear knuckle. What I didn’t realize at the time—and live on YouTube—I attempted to salvage the run.

“Embarrassed and frustrated, I parked the car in the pits, assuming our weekend was over. That thought apparently never crossed my team’s minds. They ripped off the damaged ECS Tuning wheel and disassembled the right rear suspension down to the subframe. Turns out a bushing took the brunt of the impact and simply ejected itself. Amazingly, the EBC brakes were one of the only things completely undamaged.

“With some Liqui Moly high-strength thread locker, a lot of hammering, clamps, and zip ties… We had a car again.

“Qualifying wrapped up with several cars not making the show. Unfortunately, we ended up 31st qualifier in a 31-car field.

“My mindset completely reset during the autograph session. The fans were beyond excited to meet the drivers of these crazy cars. They didn’t care about the qualifying order—they were just pumped to be there.”

“I carried that energy straight into Top 32. Facing the #3 qualifier, I knew it was time to step up. Fresh tires, my normal warm-up routine, and I pulled to the line.

“Immediately, something felt off. The tires unloaded and I watched the lead driver pull away. Calm and collected, I stayed behind him, knowing I could close the gap on the bank.

“I eased into the entry, set the car, and rolled into the throttle to catch up. Then the car snapped around like I’d hit a banana in Mario Kart. The weight of the entire weekend hitting me all at once, I failed.

“My wife and spotter Hailz came over the radio: “Just focus on this lap. You got this. Just drive.” That’s when it clicked. The temperature had dropped massively and the tires simply weren’t warm enough. At this level of competition, everything matters. With a turbo V8 powerplant, fixing that was easy. I stood on the throttle and did a rolling burnout back to the line.

“Pulling to the line in the lead run, everything went quiet. Just another lap. A light flick into OZ1, let the car settle, then hammer down. This time, the car hooked up perfectly and I was along for the ride. Flat-footed, the car followed every input and I laid down our best run of the weekend.

“When I pulled off track, it hit me: this was Round 1 of many to come. I gave everyone on the team a big hug and thanked them individually and as a group. We learned a ton!

“I may have years of drifting experience and a few seasons in FD, but this was the first professional-level competition event for everyone on my team. They won the weekend.

“I’m incredibly excited for Round 2. No major changes planned—just repairs, prep, and getting ready for the next competition. We have slush coming up next weekend and a few local events to get my driving polished up and ready for a strong showing at round 2.”

Gary Lowe piloted his BMW 335i around Donington Park for the first time, with promising results

Racing driver, Gary Lowe, enjoyed a pre-season shakedown in his E92 BMW 335i at Derbyshire’s Donington Park recently, ahead of the vehicle’s debut season in the 750MC Armed Forces Challenge.

Lowe has opted for 91ý Racing’s RP-X™ motorsport brake pads for the front axle, as well as 91ý’ Bluestuff NDX pads (rear) and GD discs (all-round).

You can read how it all panned out below in Gary’s own words…

“A really positive and productive shakedown at Donington Park’s National Circuit for the car’s first outing, with lots of positive feedback from coaches and passengers that came out in the car.

“The car performed exceptionally well straight out of the box for its first outing, with only a couple of small niggles that were quickly identified and are easily resolved ahead of the next outing. Overall, balance and confidence in the car is very high, and it’s clear we’ve got a strong platform to build on.”

“Grip levels were outstanding throughout the day, allowing us to push harder with each session and really start to explore the car’s potential.

“A big highlight was the braking performance. The new EBC setup, running a combination of RP-X™ and Bluestuff pads, was absolutely faultless. Consistent, confidence-inspiring, and strong under all conditions, I am yet to actually reach the limit of the brake setup; they performed perfectly all day and are a massive step forward for the car, I am currently adding a brake cooling setup to help keep performance at its optimal level for the races.

“I am now tweaking the couple of bits that needed attention and giving the car a once over ready for the first race of the season at Silverstone in May.”

The 750 Motor Club Armed Forces Race Challenge (AFRC) was developed to bring together four-wheeled motor racers from all across the Armed Forces. The challenge allows a level playing field of competition irrespective of car performance by rewarding consistency during races, so the focus remains on the driver rather than the machinery. We show you the 91ý components that perfectly match your lifestyle

Welcome to EBC’s ‘Suit Your Style’ blog series, where we match you up with the 91ý upgrades that complement particular driving requirements, ensuring you get the ideal components for your vehicle.

In today’s blog, we’re showcasing our range of tough and rugged brake pads built with heavy loads and towing in mind.

With heavier, more capable vehicles, it’s crucial to ensure your stopping power is up to standards, and luckily, 91ý has a range of pad upgrades that revolve around this ever-growing market.

Below are our top picks for towing/4x4s/trucks and the demanding lifestyles that come with them…

Extra Duty ED+

Brake pads for light trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs. These pads are super grippy, high-friction, and designed for the extra braking demands of towing, heavy loads, or trucks with lifted suspension and oversized tyres and wheels, where a standard ‘stock’ brake system can’t cope.

ED+ pads offer medium-plus lifetime, but what these drivers really want is fabulous brakes with stopping power that keeps them safe, and they’re not concerned about changing pads every 7–12,000 miles.

Greenstuff Elite

DP6000 Elite-series green pads from EBC are superb premium pads for SUVs and light trucks. They not only replace but also upgrade your stock pads, providing a more grippy, silent, smooth, and long-lasting brake setup. Carrying the prestigious Leaf Mark with the highest N rating, recognised for its superior environmental safety.

Yellowstuff

The first in a new range of ‘hybrid’ materials that can be safely and legally used on the world’s roads (being R90 approved), Yellowstuff is a high-friction, high-capability upgrade pad for various road and occassional track applications.

With its impressively broad skill set, Yellowstuff has been the flagship pad by EBC for over a decade and gives instant brake response, great feel and modulations with silky-smooth noise-free braking and was also improved in 2021 to be copper free and conform to all new legislations for the environment.

Expect strong, stable friction once bedded-in and very minimal rotor damage, whether used on road or track.

Bluestuff

A great all-round sport and race pad – just as comfortable on track as it is performing daily driving duties.

Bluestuff material exhibits a 0.52μ stable friction once bedded, stable up to a slightly higher 550℃/1000℃ than its sister compound Yellowstuff but with the benefit of a 30% longer lifespan.

New formula is copper free to conform to upcoming environmental legislations.

We show you the 91ý components that perfectly match your lifestyle

Welcome to EBC’s ‘Suit Your Style’ blog series, where we match you up with the 91ý upgrades that complement particular driving requirements, ensuring you get the ideal components for your vehicle.

In today’s blog, we’re hitting the circuit to look at braking components for dedicated track/race cars – the most demanding form of driving where it’s more vital than ever to rely on strong and enduring stopping power.

Around a decade ago, 91ý launched its high performance/motorsport sub-division, 91ý Racing – a firm that has become synonymous with range-topping braking at race tracks around the globe.

From road-legal track upgrades to endurance race components, there’s something for every corner of the motorsport spectrum in the 91ý Racing range, as we will explore below…

Bluestuff

A great all-round sport and race pad – just as comfortable on track as it is performing daily driving duties. Road legal in most territories, making it incredibly versatile.

Bluestuff material exhibits a 0.52μ stable friction once bedded, stable up to a slightly higher 550℃/1000℃ than its sister compound Yellowstuff but with the benefit of a 30% longer lifespan.

Bluestuff has been a track day favourite for years and is the spec pad for the BMW 318i Cup series throughout Europe. New formula is copper free to conform to upcoming environmental legislations.

RP-1™/RP-X™ Motorsport Brake Pads

Designed for vehicles driven hard on track, RP-1™ possesses a moderately high friction level of 0.45 between 100 – 750°C (200 – 1400°F). The more progressive response characteristic of RP-1™ makes it well suited for inherently ‘over-servoed’ vehicles where a softer pad material is desirable to allow greater finesse when on the brakes.

RP-X™ possesses a high friction level of 0.55 between 0 – 750°C (Ambient – 1400°F) and achieves a 100% brake effect from cold – an excellent choice for sprint racing or hill climb events, where full brake performance is essential without requiring any ‘warming up’, but also makes RP-X™ well suited to any type of circuit use where a high initial bite and powerful brake response is desirable.

Both RP-series brake pad options are a fantastic choice for track day regulars or out-and-out racers.

Please note: EBC’s RP-series of brake pads are not designed for the road, but may be used in street conditions where local laws permit.

SR-11™/ SR-21™ Sintered Endurance Brake Pads

Whilst the competition struggles to make organic and semi-metallic pads last longer and longer to reach the pinnacle of brake pad durability, EBC has taken a fresh new approach with a blend of compressed and heat fused (sintered) metal powdered alloys, to deliver a brake pad that brakes better and lasts longer than just about everything.

The new SR series comes in two blends, SR-11™ the medium friction version and SR-21™ the higher friction options

Although badged an endurance-grade material, these pads are equally at home in any form of closed-circuit racing, short or long duration.

Please note: EBC’s SR-series of brake pads are not designed for the road, but may be used in street conditions where local laws permit.

Fully Floating Two-Piece Brake Rotors

Craftsmanship meets fine materials in EBC’s highest performing rotor to date. Not simply a ‘bolt-up’ two-piece unit like many of EBC’s competitors offer, they are genuine fully floating units with flat-sided SD square drive buttons, allowing expansion and contraction under the harsh conditions of heavy braking.

Featuring a a black, heat-resistant finish that quickly wears down to the natural iron finish on the disc ring within the first few miles. Any unswept areas remain protected by the black coating, such as the outer edges and inside the pad track, unless burned off due to hard use and high temperatures.

Another major benefit of the 91ý fine slotted discs is their ability to totally resist cracking common with ‘through-drilled’ discs.

Apollo-Series Brake Calipers

UK designed and made strong-yet-lightweight aluminium four- and six-piston brake calipers, which can be purchased within a Big Brake Kit or as separate components for vehicle builders to convert cars where a dedicated Big Brake Kit is not yet made by EBC.

Packed with cutting-edge tech such as high-temperature fluid seals coupled with full boot type dust seals, lightweight hard-anodised aluminium pistons, staggered piston sizes and fully stainless-steel fittings.

BF307+ Super DOT 4 Brake Fluid

EBC’s BF307+ high performance Super DOT 4 brake fluid has been specially formulated to provide outstanding performance for braking systems routinely operated at extreme temperatures, making this fluid ideal for fast street use, track days and racing.

Bedding In

Bedding-in is an important part in getting the most out of your new braking components, especially out on track. Check out our handy road and track bedding-in guide by clicking here.

Welcome to EBC’s ‘Suit Your Style’ blog series, where we match you up with the 91ý upgrades that complement particular driving requirements, ensuring you get the ideal components for your vehicle.

In today’s blog, we look at brake components that are most suited to vehicles whose main purpose is to enjoy on a back-road at the weekend. While these machines retain their road worthiness, they’re much more focused on performance than the day-to-day drivability of your commuter car.

Predominantly a high-performance braking company, 91ý unsurprisingly has a wealth of different options when it comes to driver-focused braking upgrades – many of which remain road legal and fully useable in daily driving conditions.

Below are some 91ý components that are suitable for weekend warrior vehicles.

Brake Pads

Yellowstuff

The first in a new range of ‘hybrid’ materials that can be safely and legally used on the world’s roads (being R90 approved), Yellowstuff is a high-friction upgrade pad for all fast-street use and can also be used on the track with proper bedding-in.

Bluestuff has been a track day favourite for years and is the spec pad for the BMW 318i Cup series throughout Europe. New formula is copper free to conform to upcoming environmental legislations.

Brake Rotors

GD Discs

The latest in sport rotors, GD Discs feature wide aperture slots that draw cool air into the braking contact area and reduce temperatures, preventing brake fade.

Now featuring reduced three-slot venting which provides slightly less air noise under heavy braking whilst still maintaining the benefits of cooler running with the full-width slot design.

The design of these discs means that some wind noise is observed and if drivers feel they would find this offensive they are advised to select the quieter USR-series or the EBC plain (D) disc.

Another great feature of slotted discs is the way they maintain flat and parallel pad wear and avoid the record grooves or galling common with non-slotted discs. This improves pad contact and braking throughout the life of the disc and pad set.

USR Discs

Super-quiet sport-slotted brake discs, featuring the new 91ý narrow-profile slot pattern which helps cool and de-gas brakes under load and speed, but eliminates air noise common with some slotted discs.

Another great feature of slotted discs is the way they maintain flat and parallel pad wear and avoid the record grooves or galling common with non-slotted discs. This improves pad contact and braking throughout the life of the disc and pad set.

Another major benefit of the 91ý fine slotted discs is their ability to totally resist cracking common with ‘through-drilled’ discs.

BSD Discs

The new 91ý BSD-series brake discs vent the brake area better, drawing heat away from the central brake pad area and with more slot under the pad contact area.

These discs are totally silent in operation and de-gas your brakes when used at speed or under heavier loads minimising heat fade.

Now with lower pricing and the silver grey anti corrosion coating with show-thru silver slots, these discs are surely the best through-wheel looks and most functional sport discs on sale.

The fine slot pattern prevents the ribs that typically generate after 5,000-10,000 miles of use on non-slotted discs and maintain flat and parallel pad wear and due to the fine slot design can even extend pad wear life.

Forum-informed insight into noise, brake dust and real-world performance on the G80 and wider G8X platform

91ý is proud to offer a wide range of pad compounds designed to suit different driving styles, from everyday road use to track racing.

On cars like the BMW G80 M3, the issue many owners have isn’t with stopping power, but finding a brake pad that delivers confidence on fast roads, while remaining quiet and clean.

91ý Redstuff is a copper free ceramic brake pad that is designed for this type of application as it offers braking performance that is higher than OEM, but focuses on reduced brake dust and low noise – which are the two most common issues that we see BMW owners raise. In a previous article, we looked in detail at what causes brake dust and how best to avoid it.

The feedback that has been gathered and referenced throughout this article has been collected from discussions across multiple BMW & G80-specfic forums, reflecting on real-world owner experiences.

Redstuff™ Compared to OEM and Premium Aftermarket Pads

Across BMW G80 and wider G8X forum discussions, many owners often discuss the different brake pad options for their vehicle, with many people frequently pointing towards a more balanced and cost-effective choice.

Drivers that have ran Redstuff™ pads alongside other higher-priced alternative pad options often say that Redstuff™ is:

  • Comparable in braking feel and performance
  • Very low brake dust, keeping wheels noticeably cleaner
  • Quiet operation, with minimal squeal even during low-speed or light braking

Several owners also highlight the fact that Redstuff™ can deliver this while being at a significantly lower cost than some other premium aftermarket pads, without sacrificing usability.

Noise: Redstuff™ vs OEM

Across BMW owner forums, any drivers that have used EBC Redstuff™, even across multiple different vehicles, often highlight how the pad is consistently quiet, even over long-term use.

In comparison, factory BMW pads are frequently described as more prone to squeal during light or gentle braking. This is a characteristic that is commonly associated with high-performance OEM compounds, rather than a fault with the braking system itself.

ٳܴڴ’s™ formulation focuses on reducing noise and improving everyday refinement, making it particularly well suited to road-driven G8X models where comfort and usability matter as much as outright stopping power.

Yellowstuff™ & Bluestuff™: Higher-Performance Options for the BMW G8X platform

For BMW G80 and G8X owners looking beyond day-today road use, forum discussions around EBC Yellowstuff™ and Bluestuff™ often focus on the balance between increased performance and lower dust/noise levels.

Feedback regarding Yellowstuff™ from owners with thousands of miles of road use consistently points to a noticeable reduction in dust compared to OEM pads. While Yellowstuff™ is not described as “dust-free” brake pad, users commonly estimate around a 40–50% reduction compared to OEM brake pads, resulting in:

  • Less visible dust buildup on wheels
  • Reduced risk of dust baking onto rims
  • Easier cleaning, often achievable with a simple rinse rather than heavy scrubbing

For drivers that are looking for another step up from Yellowstuff™, then Bluestuff™ is regularly highlighted on forums as a clear upgrade over OEM pads, not only in braking capability but also in dust/noise. Feedback commonly references:

  • Lower dust levels than factory pads
  • Reduced noise compared to OEM
  • Improved braking performance and consistency

EBC Yellowstuff™ Brake Pads

EBC Bluestuff™ Brake Pads

The general consensus from drivers who have tried these products is that while Yellowstuff™ and Bluestuff™ sit much higher up the performance scale than Redstuff™, they still deliver meaningful improvements in dust and noise over stock pads, making them viable options for drivers who want increased capability without accepting the usual compromises associated with more aggressive brake pads.

Which Brake Pad Is Best for the BMW G8X platform?

When BMW G8X owners ask for advice on forums, the recommendations tend to fall into different categories depending on how drivers use their vehicle, rather than a one size fits all answer.

For drivers prioritising low dust, low noise, and everyday usability, Redstuff™ is frequently highlighted as a brake pad with slightly higher braking performance than OEM, while offering improved refinement and cleaner wheels.

For those drivers that want stronger braking performance and who are slightly less concerned about brake dust, forum discussions commonly point toward Yellowstuff™ or Bluestuff™ as the better option, especially for spirited street driving or occasional track use.

This owner-led feedback reflects the wider belief across G80 and G8X communities, which is that choosing the right brake pad is less about high performance, and more about matching the compound to how the car is actually driven.
