The BMW specialist entrusts larger brake kit for its heavily modified hot hatch
Back in early 2022, the team from East Sussex-based performance BMW specialist, Hack Engineering, installed a four-piston 91传媒 Racing Apollo Big Brake Kit to their F20-series BMW M140i project car, dubbed the 鈥楬E140i鈥.
Two years on, the team has now enjoyed countless track days and spirited road driving sessions with their hot hatch, commenting on how the brake kit provided a notable upgrade from standard, especially when the car is pushed hard.
In that time, the performance capabilities of the BMW have significantly improved, with the six-cylinder pocket rocket now boasting around 600bhp thanks to a Pure 800 turbocharger upgrade and countless other modifications (see full spec list below).
It therefore seemed like the obvious choice for the car to be upgraded to 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 recently launched six-piston version of the Apollo Big Brake Kit to further improve braking performance. This kit utilises an upgraded version of the fully floating two-piece discs in the same dimensions as before (355mm), with a whole-new six-piston Apollo caliper and Bluestuff pads topping it off.
Following the seamless install, the Hack Engineering team have since managed to put some fast road miles in on the car, with company founder, Ben Koflach, commenting about the improved stopping power it now offers.
鈥淭he six-piston kit is yet another step-up in braking from 91传媒. From stock to the four-piston, we found huge聽gains in performance, and the six-piston caliper then adds even better pedal feel and confidence, with braking power that feels absolutely ridiculous. A must-do for any big power road or track car,鈥 Ben tells us.
Stay tuned for further updates as Hack Engineering tests the kit out on a track day very soon.
