Tennessee-based pro drifter, Hooman Rahimi, is once again competing in the PROSPEC category of the prestigious Formula Drift series in the USA. Following a rollercoaster of a year, the team’s next round took them to the capacious World Wide Technology Raceway in St Louis, Missouri, where Rahimi experienced another successful weekend, taking home 11th place.

The Phoenix Race Support motorcycle racing team is supporting EBC-equipped Paul Charman for the 2025 season. Charman races in the No Limits Racing (NLR) Pirelli Super Series 1000 on his Yamaha R1, and we caught up with him and the team fresh off the back of their mid-season round at Lincolnshire’s Cadwell Park Circuit, where they finished the weekend in 5th overall.

Natalie Kane has been racing motocross around Europe for many years, recently taking a break due to pregnancy. She recently returned to compete in the Women’s Swedish Championship for 2025, with her first round taking place just nine weeks after giving birth. We caught up with Kane after round 6 of the championship, which took place at the Göta Motorcross Track, where some great performances earned her 4th and 5th place finishes.

For the 2025 season, the G&S Racing Kawasaki motorcycle race team is once again competing in the BSB’s British Supersport Championship with two riders: TJ Toms and Jorel Boerboom. Off the back of another points-scoring round at Thruxton, the roadshow next took the team to Cadwell Park, where highs and lows were experienced across the weekend.

The SpiceBoy Racing team, comprising three riders, are competing in the HM Racing Clubman 600 class of the NGRRC for the 2025 season. We caught up with the trio of riders as they had just finished their late-summer round at Derbyshire’s Donington Park Circuit, where the team experienced a weekend of “determination, development, and team spirit”.

Brian Childers faced issues with heat and fade on his car’s stock setup

US-based Mk7.5 Golf R owner, Brian Childers, is a regular track day attendee and avid driving enthusiast.

When beginning to lap his latest hot hatch, he soon faced issues with heat and fade from his stock braking setup.

Eventually being recommended to try 91´ŤĂ˝ Racing’s range of high-performance braking upgrades, he soon came up with a solution to these issues, now rocking a setup capable of dealing with even three-day track day events.

Find out more in his own words below…

“I have been searching for a solution to the brakes on my 2019 Golf R since I first tracked the car. The braking system, while good on the street, is not track worthy. Add a Stage 2 tune, suspension upgrades and DOT R sticky tires, and you make the problem worse.

“Through the years of ownership, I have tried different pad, rotor and racing brake fluid combinations with no success. The brakes are good for about three laps, then fade/warp unless I brake very early and light into the heavy brake zones. If I pushed hard for the weekend, I would get one weekend out of the brake pads and rotors. Frequent caliper rebuilds were required as the seals would be damaged due to the excess heat.”

“A couple years ago, I tried EBC’s RP-X™ pads. They were the first pads that lasted the entire weekend posting fast lap times and had plenty of pad left. Unfortunately, the brakes ran hot and chewed up a set of another manufacturers’ rotors. I reached out to EBC in 2023 as I had finally found a set of pads that worked great and would last more than a weekend of fast laps.

“Through EBC, I learned that heat was the biggest enemy. They showed me how to achieve an ‘intermediate’ solution to the brakes without going to a BBK. Rotor temperatures would exceed 1,500°F/800°C when I used brake temperature paint.

“Using EBC’s new sintered race pads, the SR-1™s and their new two-piece floating rotors, I was able to have a great brake system that lasted multiple events over two years. The final key was using brake ducts to direct the air into the center of the floating rotors to maximize brake cooling. This got the brake temperatures down to the 1,100°F/593°C range. Brake cooling ducts are mandatory on this platform!”

“I was very interested in EBC’s 6 piston Apollo BBK. However, the temperatures I achieved out on the track could pose a problem with any painted caliper. I learned of EBC’s racing caliper which has specific features designed to handle the stress at the race track. From the hard anodized finish, the high temperature seals and steel castellated pistons, it seemed like the perfect final solution for the Golf R’s brakes.

“I installed EBC’s 6 piston racing calipers BBK on my 2019 Golf R in late September 2025 for my next track event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The difference was night and day. I had read that EBC’s Balanced Big Brake Kit focuses on the entire brake system. I can share from my experience this is not marketing hype. The brakes felt much firmer and the car did not pitch to the front under initial braking as quickly. The car had more of a squat under braking. This kept the car much more stable under heavy braking. The brakes were much more linear which inspired confidence. The 6R calipers require more pedal effort, making it much easier to modulate the pedal as you approach threshold braking. I used the EBC 307+ racing brake fluid supplied in the kit. I was very impressed by how solid the pedal felt under all conditions. Absolutely no issues with the brake fluid all weekend of fast laps.”

“Simply put, the EBC 6 piston racing caliper BBK setup was awesome. I tried both RP-X™ and SR-11™ pads front and rear and both were exceptional. My braking distances down the back straight at Mid-Ohio went from the 500 marker to approaching the 400 marker with more confidence than the best setup with the stock calipers. Going forward, the SR-11™ pad will be my pad of choice for three-day track events. The RP-X™ is an excellent choice for Time Attacks and autocross.”

SR-11™ Endurance Pads

A medium-friction sintered endurance motorsport compound that’s targeted for front of street base cars where high ABS effect exists on the car or for the front and rear of race cars with bias controls.

SPONSORED RIDER/DRIVER UPDATE

Following a successful 2024 campaign, Wiltshire-based motorcycle racer, Max Symonds has been campaigning another season in the British Superbike’s National Superstock category. We caught up with Max after he’d returned to the saddle and successfully completed his first two BSB rounds of the season, as well as a guest round with NG Road Racing, where he picked up some great results after a bad injury at the start of the year.

Portugal-based Fabio Ferrinho currently competes in the Mogadouro Drag Race series in his home country. His steed of choice is a SEAT Ibiza Bocanegra – with a crucial modification of EBC Bluestuff brake pads that he’s applied – helping him to scrub off speed fast once he’s hit the finish line. With the recent big annual race event taking place, he was pleased to achieve third-in-class.

Jeremy Evans and Phil Hart are the drivers of the Semprini Racing outfit – a team that is currently campaigning a K24-engined EP3 Honda Civic Type R across both the MSV Trackday Trophy and BRSCC Supersport Endurance Championship race series in the UK. We caught up with the outfit mid-way through the 2025 season, where they’ve already encountered plenty of thrills and spills along the way, including podium finishes.

Martyn Henry is competing in the Pro class of Time Attack UK, in his heavily modified Vauxhall Astra VXR. A rocky start to the season was followed by a more promising round at Brands Hatch recently. The latest round took the roadshow to Norfolk’s Snetterton Circuit, where more gremlins reared their head for Henry – but this didn’t stop him taking a podium finish thanks to some fantastic driving.

Luke Arpino of the RAF is currently racing in the Armed Forces Race Challenge (AFRC) in his Mazda MX-5. For the 2025 season, Arpino uses 91´ŤĂ˝â€™ USR discs and Bluestuff pads in his car, with a further two class wins clinched at the most recent round at Norfolk’s Snetterton Circuit, following similar success at the previous round at Donington Park.

The Whitecliffe CDH Racing Team has been competing in the Bennetts British Superbikes Championship for the 2025 season, with both Luke Hedger and Jamie Davies piloting Honda CBR1000RR-R machines. We caught up with the team after the fifth round at Kent’s Brands Hatch circuit, where they had another successful weekend.
