Andrew Smyth entrusts 91传媒 components on his Kawasaki race bike

Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of the Andrew Smyth Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB鈥檚 Superstock 600 series for the last few years.

Riding on a Kawasaki ZX6R 600cc superbike, Smyth uses 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 GPFAX sintered motorsport brake pads (up front) and HH sintered brake pads (on the rear), as well as X-Series floating discs.

In-between his BSB campaign, Smyth has found the time to compete in some Ulster Superbike Championship rounds.

The latest Ulster Superbike Championship leg took him to back to Kirkistown Racing Circuit for the fourth round of the 2024 season. Here, Smyth clinched an overall podium after some solid driving across the whole weekend.

鈥淭his was a two-day race meeting, with two championship races on each day and also a bonus shootout race.鈥

Qualifying: 3rd

Race 1: 4th

Race 2: 4th

Race 3: 4th

Race 4: 3rd

Shootout Race: 2nd

鈥淚 was happy to come away with 3rd overall.

鈥淢assive thanks to all involved with the running of the race; as it was a very well run event with lots of track time for everyone.鈥

The EBC-equipped racer is warming up for another BSB season

Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of the Andrew Smyth Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB鈥檚 Superstock 600 series for the last few years.

Riding on a Kawasaki ZX6R 600cc superbike, Smyth uses 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 GPFAX sintered motorsport brake pads (up front) and HH sintered brake pads (on the rear), as well as X-Series floating discs.

During the BSB off-season, he has been competing in various races around Northern Ireland, including the first round of the Ulster Superbike Championship held at Bishopscourt Racing Circuit, Downpatrick, at the end of March, in treacherous conditions.

Directly following on from this race, it was over to Kirkistown Racing Circuit for the second round, which thankfully was set under much more favourable weather.

Andrew鈥檚 team explains how he got on here below.

Easter Monday (1 April) 鈥 Kirkistown

鈥淚 qualified in 3rd position, feeling very comfortable with my wet setup. In Race 1, I got a good start, but dropped a few positions towards the end of the race, finishing in 5th position.

鈥淩ace 2 was a similar race, with me taking 5th at the line.”

鈥淢y next outing will be Oulton Park for the BSB, in just over three weeks鈥 time.

鈥淭hanks must go to both of the organising clubs, marshalls, all track personal for two very well-run events. Not forgetting Dad and Krissy for keeping the bike on point, Mum and Jodie for the catering and Ellen on pit board duties.

The rider is warming up for his BSB Superstock 600 campaign with some races in Northern Ireland

Despite treacherous conditions, Smyth put in some great riding across the weekend, as you can read below in his own words.

鈥淭he Temple Motorcycle Club hosted the first round of the Ulster Superbike Championship at Bishopscourt Racing Circuit back in March.

鈥淛ust as we had been due to go out for our qualifying session, the dreaded rain that had been forecast decided it would dampen things 鈥 it was a quick change from a dry setup to a wet one! Thanks to the team for a quick turnaround, meaning I lost no laps and ended up in P3.

鈥淥nto the race 鈥 with a front-row position, I made a decent start, sitting in second place. The rider that was leading took a crash (thankfully he walked away) and the race was red-flagged. After a short delay, the race was restarted and I got a great start again, taking the lead, but to be honest, the conditions were not great, so I was more than happy to settle for 3rd at the line.”

鈥淢assive thanks to all marshals and club members for trying to keep the show going! Unfortunately, due to the rain the rest of the meeting was abandoned!

鈥淲e then took a short trip to Kirkistown Race Circuit and made it our home for the next few days, getting some testing in and making improvements to my setup. I left Kirkistown happy.
