The young kart racer secured several race wins across the weekend

11-year-old Max Wheatley competed in the Rotax Mini (Inter) class across the UK in 2023 at various events,��.

For 2024, the class has evolved to the Euro-Spec class, where Max continues to use 91��ý’ brake pads in his 125cc Rotax kart.

The latest race saw him head to Hertfordshire’s Rye House Kart Raceway, where he showed more promise by winning multiple podiums, as you can read below in his own words.

“An amazing weekend back at Rye House!”

Qualifying – 1^st

“A rainy qualifying, setting a time 0.6 seconds faster than 2^nd place.”

Heat 1 – 1^st – 1^st��

“Fastest lap – 0.6 seconds fastest. Finishing with a six-second lead in rainy conditions.”

Heat 2 – 1^st – 3^rd��

“Struggling to keep the kart on track, due to a gamble on setup with a dry line appearing, but still managed to finished 3^rd.”

Final – 1^st – 1^st

“Finishing with a seven-second lead and 0.5 second fastest in dry conditions back on slicks.

“I also received Driver of the Day.”

EBC-Equipped Kart Racer Wheatley in Gruelling Three-Day Whilton Mill ‘Long Weekender’

The young motorsport star is competing in the Rotax Mini (Inter) class for 2024

11-year-old Max Wheatley competed in the Rotax Mini (Inter) class across the UK in 2023 at various events,��.

For 2024, the class has evolved to the Euro-Spec class, where Max continues to use 91��ý’ brake pads in his 125cc Rotax kart.

The second race of the year was a big one: the three-day ‘Long Weekender’ at Northamptonshire-based Whilton Mill, where Max successfully carried out no less than four heats across the weekend.

You can read how he got on below in his team’s own words.

Heat 1 :

“Heat 1 saw Max staring 9^th, making up a few places on the start but after being hit up the back, spinning and then re-joining in 21st. Having to push hard on a wet greasy track making it back up to 13th, however after out-braking himself and ending up on the mud, he lost a few places dropping him back to 16th. Again, trying hard to made up places and ended Heat 1 in 13th.”

RESULTS:

Practice 1 ~ 8th
Practice 2 ~ 2nd
Practice 3 ~ 7th
Heat 1 – 9th ~ 13th

Heat 2 :

“Heat 2 saw Max starting 2nd, taking the lead on the first lap! Due to being off the pace a little, he dropped to 6th but had some good battles on track. After penalties the LCR driver finished 4th!”

Heat 3 :

“Max started heat 3 in 27th, getting a really good start –��making up 13 places in the first two laps! By lap 5, Max was in 10th position, finishing Heat 3 in 9th position!”

Heat 4 :

“In Heat 4, Max started in 24th, getting another really good start. By lap 2, Max had made up 9 positions to 15th, continuing to push every lap. He finished Heat 4 in 9th place, making up a total of 15 positions! Amazing drive by Max throughout day two of the Whilton Mill Long Weekender.”

RESULTS :

Practice 4 ~ 4th
Heat 2 – 2nd ~ 4th
Heat 3 – 27th ~ 9th
Heat 4 – 24th ~ 9th

Pre-Final/Final

“For the final day at Whilton Mill, Max took on the Pre-Final and Final against a very tough 34-kart grid! Max started the Pre-Final in 8^th, getting a good start, however he got spun, causing him to drop to 26th. By lap 2, he had made his way back to 19th, putting his head down and pushing he managed to finish in 10th position.

“For the Final, Max started in 10th, dropping two positions on the start, and by lap 3 he was back in 10th. Continuing to push every lap the LCR driver managed to get into 6th place and held it for a few laps. On lap 17 of the 14 minutes race Max managed to set his fastest lap of the weekend – 47.89.”

Warm up practice ~ 7th
Pre Final – 8th ~ 10th
Final – 10th ~ 7th

EBC-Equipped Max Wheatley Battles It Out in Debutant Euro Kart Race

The young kart racer is already showing promise at the start of his 2024 campaign

11-year-old Max Wheatley competed in the Rotax Mini (Inter) class across the UK in 2023 at various events, .

For 2024, the class has evolved to the Euro-Spec class, where Max continues to use 91��ý’ brake pads in his 125cc Rotax kart.

The first race of the season took Max to a chilly Hunts Kart Racing Club in Cambridgeshire, where he was instantly rubbing shoulders with some of the front runners of the league.

“Great first race of 2024 at Hunts Kart Club – one of the toughest races I’ve ever driven!

“I made 18^th in Practice, starting 19^th in Heat 1 and moving up to 17^th by the end of the race, despite the chaos in the first corner dropping me down a few places.”

“In Heat 2, I started 12^th, moving up to 6^th with an amazing start helping me make up seven places on the first corner. I also gained the fastest Sector 2 time in this race.

“In the Final, I began in 11^th, making a few mistakes on the opening lap which costed me a few positions. Overall, I was happy to finish 13^th against a tough grid for my first race in Euro spec.

“Bring on the next race of the year at Whilton Mill in two weeks’ time…!”

EBC-Equipped Max Wheatley Achieves Podium at Coveted Rotax Showdown Kart Race

The rising kart star clinched silver at the Whilton Mill end-of-year bonanza

11-year-old Max Wheatley has been showing great promise in recent years with his kart racing career. He competed in the Rotax Mini (Inter) class across the UK in 2023 at various events, achieving impressive results throughout.

Wheatley entrusts 91��ý’ kart pads on his 125cc Rotax machine, citing these components as a large part of his success.

The year ended with the highly-anticipated Rotax Showdown event at Northamptonshire’s Whilton Mill – the final heat of 2023 for many classes.

Consistently within the top four positions within the Rotax Mini (Inter) practice sessions, Wheatley secured second-place finishes in race 1 and race 3. He entered the final heat in 4^th, carrying out an excellent drive to see him finish in 2^nd.

“An amazing weekend at Whilton Mill for the Rotax Showdown. Starting on a high for the practice sessions, there was a DSQ in qualifying, making life difficult for the heats. I gave it my all for the final, though, finishing the weekend on a high in 2^nd place. Thanks to 91��ý for my amazing brake pads – looking forward to working with them more in the future…” – Max Wheatley
