Kal Fortner is using 91´«Ã½ Racing’s sintered brake pads on his Mercedes track car

Kal Fortner is competing in the 2026 season of Gridlife in the USA, using his Mercedes AMG GTS as weapon of choice.

The driver is utilising 91´«Ã½ Racing’s SR-21â„¢ sintered endurance motorsport brake pads to ensure stopping power is optimal in his super-coupe.

Following a podium finish at Grid Life Carolina, where he finished only behind another SR-21™ for an EBC front-row lockout, Fortner came back fighting at the next round held at Atlanta’s iconic Michelin Road Raceway, where more podiums were clinched by both drivers.

Read how it panned out in his own words below…

“Going into this weekend, fresh off of a strong result at Gridlife Carolina coming in P2, I had so much confidence to give it my everything one of my all-time favourite tracks: Road Atlanta. To start out the weekend, I was met with some traffic during my flyers, so initially I wasn’t able to show what the true pace was. With this being a two-day, traditional time attack weekend with a limited schedule, the pressure was on to put together a perfect lap. On top of that, we had rain in the forecast for Sunday, potentially limiting us to only 3 dry sessions.”

“Road Atlanta is a very high-speed track, with the car hitting speeds of over 165 mph, putting the braking performance on centre stage. My SR-21â„¢s performed at their best, giving me the confidence to carry as much speed as possible into even the heaviest of braking zones, without a single ounce of hesitation, just full confidence. Ending the day on Saturday, I still never got a truly clean lap catching traffic on a track that is incredibly difficult to pass at, but even with this, I was able to put us into P3 going into Sunday.”

“Come Sunday morning, to my surprise, we had no rain! I knew exactly where I needed to find the time, and I did just that. Battling back and forth up until the last session, I ended the weekend in P2, with Eric Dewitt in P1, also on EBCs! Just like Carolina, this was an EBC Streetmod 1-2, and on top of that, in ClubTR, the entire podium was swept by EBC equipped cars! I couldn’t be prouder to show represent EBC in such a strong showing against such a strong field at one of the most difficult tracks in the world.â€

Gary Lowe uses RP-Xâ„¢ and Bluestuff pads in his BMW 335i race car

Racing driver, Gary Lowe, has entered his first competitive race in his freshly-built E92 BMW 335i in the 750MC Armed Forces Challenge round at Silverstone recently.

The race follows a very promising shakedown session earlier in the year at Donington Park.

Lowe has opted for 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-Xâ„¢ motorsport brake pads for the front axle, as well as 91´«Ã½â€™ Bluestuff NDX pads (rear) and GD discs (all-round).

You can read how it all panned out below in Gary’s own words below…

“This weekend, we attended Rounds 1 and 2 of the Armed Forces Race Challenge at Silverstone National Circuit.

“Making the results even more special, this marked the very first race weekend for the car and myself, making it a huge milestone after 18 months of work preparing the car myself to get it race ready.”

“The weekend proved challenging from the outset, with intermittent boost issues that unfortunately remained unresolved throughout both races. Despite the setbacks, we kept pushing and were able to bring the car home in both races, securing a strong P3 in class during Race 1 and improving to P2 in class in Race 2.

“A huge positive from the weekend was the performance of the 91´«Ã½ package. The RP-Xâ„¢ pads paired with the Bluestuff pads and discs performed flawlessly throughout the weekend, delivering consistent stopping power with zero brake fade and remaining sharp and reliable across both races.”

“Massive thanks to the Army Sports Car Racing Team, 91´«Ã½, and KARLYONE CARE LTD for all of their continued support throughout the weekend. Your backing makes it possible for us to keep pushing forward, even during difficult race weekends.

“We’ll regroup, resolve the boost issues, and come back stronger for the next round at Snetterton 300 on the 20th of June.â€

Read how it panned out in his own words below…

“We ended up scoring P2 at Gridlife Carolina, and Dewey got P1 so we’re looking at an EBC front-row lockout!

“The first day, we battled the heat since temps were in the 90s, but on Sunday after putting in some sticker tires I was able to go 5 tenths faster than my previous personal best!”

“The SR-21™s felt incredible all weekend and I really had the confidence to push into the braking zones and trust the ABS when needed.

“Next up is Atlanta and I really think we’ve got a good shot at getting P1 there, it’s a track that really suits the Mercedes and personally a track that I’m very comfortable at.â€

91´«Ã½ sponsors the British Army Motorcycle Road Race Team (AMRRT)

The British Army Motorcycle Road Race Team (AMRRT) is an exclusive racing club for all Army, RAF and Navy personnel.

Formed in 2010, the AMRRT is one of the largest teams in the British Army Motorsports Association. It encompasses two road tacing disciplines – sprints and endurance – with 21 full-time and reserve riders, plus support crew for 2026.

As well as its own dedicated championship – the Inter Services Road Race Championship – AMRRT also supports entrants to other national series, not least the BSB, where three riders will be competing throughout the year.

WO2 Watts will return to the highly contested National Superstock 1000 category, whilst Sgt Thomas and LCpl Large-Taylor will compete in the ultra-competitive SuperSport 600 Cup onboard a Triumph 765 and Yamaha R9 respectively.

All three will be using 91´«Ã½ Racing’s GPFAX pads and X/XC discs to help them achieve the best results across the season.

We caught up with the team off the back of the official BSB testing day at Derbyshire’s Donington Park. You can hear how it went in their own words below…

“WO1 Gav Watts and SSgt Stephen Thomas continued their preparations for the upcoming British Superbike (BSB) season by attending the Official BSB Test at Donington Park on 3–4 April. Cold temperatures and strong winds made for challenging running throughout the two days.”

“Watts, who will be competing in his second season in the National Superstock 1000 class aboard his Honda Fireblade, used the test to focus on development rather than outright lap time. Reflecting on the event, he said: “The conditions have been extremely challenging due to the cold temperatures and very high winds. We didn’t concentrate on an outright fast lap, instead focusing on understanding the new data software and experimenting with different electronic and geometry setups. Overall, I’m pleased with the two days and now look forward to the second test at Oulton Park in a few weeks’ time.â€

“Thomas, who will contest the ultra‑competitive Supersport Cup in 2026 on his Triumph 765RS, echoed the importance of the test. After 5–6 months off the bike, the focus was on rebuilding confidence and ensuring the package was working correctly. He commented: “This test was important to get reacquainted with the team and the bike. Lap times were down across all classes due to the wind and low temperatures, but it was good to get some solid laps in alongside the riders I’ll be racing against this year.â€

The EBC-equipped driver competes in the Caterham Seven Championship UK

British Caterham racer, Carl Jones, is undertaking another season in the top-tier Caterham Seven Championship UK in his 420R-badged machine.

At the start of 2023, Jones reached out to 91´«Ã½ Racing for some upgraded stopping power, proceeding to use RP-Xâ„¢ motorsport brake pads on the front axle, and Bluestuff NDX brake pads on the rear – a combination he has continued to use to this day.

Following multiple podiums across 2025, we caught up with Jones fresh off the back of his first 2026 round at Silverstone, where a DNF in Race 1 was pivoted into spectacular victory in the second outing of the weekend.

Read how the weekend panned out below in his own words…

“What a weekend of contrasts at Silverstone. From the frustration of a last-lap mechanical failure whilst running strongly in Race 1, to fighting through the entire field in treacherous wet conditions to take Race 2 victory — including the fastest lap of the race. A weekend that truly tested every aspect of our package, and one I am incredibly proud of.â€

Qualifying – 6th

“A solid start to the weekend, securing P6 overall and placing us firmly within contention for the race ahead. The lap gave us strong confidence in the car’s balance heading into Race 1.â€

Race 1 – DNF

“Race 1 was a genuine disappointment, though not without significant positives. From sixth on the grid, we quickly moved to the front and led the race for over half the distance — demonstrating real pace and racecraft. A potential podium, and possibly P2, was very much within our grasp. Heartbreakingly, a mechanical failure on the final lap brought our race to a premature end. The pace shown throughout was hugely encouraging and the team’s work all weekend was commendable.â€

Race 2 – P1 Victory + Fastest Lap

“Race 2 will be one to remember. Starting from the back of the 420R grid on a fully saturated track, and running on tyres I had never used in wet conditions before, the challenge was clear. Rather than letting the uncertainty affect our approach, we stayed focused, built a strong rhythm from the opening laps, and began working our way methodically through the field. The wet conditions demanded complete concentration, and the car responded superbly. We overtook competitor after competitor, ultimately crossing the line in first place — with the fastest lap of the race to our name. A hard-fought, fully deserved victory.â€

Looking Ahead

“This weekend has given us great momentum. The speed is clearly there, and so is the ability to perform under pressure in difficult conditions. We will review the Race 1 mechanical failure thoroughly to ensure it cannot be repeated, and we head to the next round with confidence and determination.

“A huge and heartfelt thank you to every one of our sponsors — your continued support is what makes weekends like this possible. We are proud to represent you on track and look forward to doing so again at Snetterton.â€

Gary Lowe piloted his BMW 335i around Donington Park for the first time, with promising results

Racing driver, Gary Lowe, enjoyed a pre-season shakedown in his E92 BMW 335i at Derbyshire’s Donington Park recently, ahead of the vehicle’s debut season in the 750MC Armed Forces Challenge.

Lowe has opted for 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-Xâ„¢ motorsport brake pads for the front axle, as well as 91´«Ã½â€™ Bluestuff NDX pads (rear) and GD discs (all-round).

You can read how it all panned out below in Gary’s own words…

“A really positive and productive shakedown at Donington Park’s National Circuit for the car’s first outing, with lots of positive feedback from coaches and passengers that came out in the car.

“The car performed exceptionally well straight out of the box for its first outing, with only a couple of small niggles that were quickly identified and are easily resolved ahead of the next outing. Overall, balance and confidence in the car is very high, and it’s clear we’ve got a strong platform to build on.”

“Grip levels were outstanding throughout the day, allowing us to push harder with each session and really start to explore the car’s potential.

“A big highlight was the braking performance. The new EBC setup, running a combination of RP-X™ and Bluestuff pads, was absolutely faultless. Consistent, confidence-inspiring, and strong under all conditions, I am yet to actually reach the limit of the brake setup; they performed perfectly all day and are a massive step forward for the car, I am currently adding a brake cooling setup to help keep performance at its optimal level for the races.

“I am now tweaking the couple of bits that needed attention and giving the car a once over ready for the first race of the season at Silverstone in May.”

The 750 Motor Club Armed Forces Race Challenge (AFRC) was developed to bring together four-wheeled motor racers from all across the Armed Forces. The challenge allows a level playing field of competition irrespective of car performance by rewarding consistency during races, so the focus remains on the driver rather than the machinery. Dan Tiley and David Pesce run the endurance friction material in their Corvette

Vehicle dynamics engineers, Dan Tiley and David Pesce, currently race their 1991 Chevrolet Corvette under the ‘Eddie Vetter’ team in the US-based ChampCar endurance racing series.

This attainable-yet-demanding series sees 7+ hour races being held across North America each year – putting intense pressure on teams and cars.

With their previous go-to brake pad option being discontinued recently, Tiley and Pesce decided to test out 91´«Ã½ Racing’s SR-21â„¢ endurance brake pad at the final championship race of the season.

Despite limited testing time over the weekend, the team were delighted with the performance and longevity on offer, eventually winning the overall race and clinching the 2025 National Championship trophy.

You can hear how it all panned out in Tiley’s own words below…

“Our car is a 1991 Chevrolet Corvette, running under the team name ‘Eddie Vetter’. This car is the successor to our previous car, ‘Freddie Mercury’; a 1986 Mercury Capri. This car is raced by myself, Dan Tiley, and teammate David Pesce. David and I are both race car vehicle dynamics simulation engineers, primarily supporting our NASCAR efforts. David works for GM in their racing division, and, ironically, I work for Ford Racing.”

“Eddie Vetter is big, heavy and bleeds American muscle, so it needs all the help it can get in the braking department. We’ve a rival brake pad for years but can no longer get them. After watching Roy Dietsch’s videos highlighting SR-21â„¢ and SR-11â„¢s, we revamped our system solely for the purpose of using those pads. We had to change our calipers in order to accommodate them. The end result was a huge gain for us! We now get excellent modulation (better than the previous pads we used), the pads are easy on the rotors and we had very little pad wear after 12 hours of racing! We are not a professional racing team with a full pit crew, and simply aren’t able to change brake pads mid-race without losing significant time on track.”

“The first seven years of my career with Ford I was a Vehicle Dynamics Engineer working on future products like the Mustang and Lincoln LS.ÌýBrake development and brake feel ‘DNA’ was a key part of my job as part of that group, so I like to think that I have some reasonable background in the area of automotive brake feel and performance.

“Our first race with EBC pads was the Championship race recently. We knew it was a risk going to the Nationals with an untested brake system, AND test day was cancelled due to weather, but it paid off in spades! We won the overall race, and ultimately the 2025 National Championship on EBC brake pads!”

“The previous pad manufacturer has left a huge hole in the endurance racing market with the lack of their components, which were unanimously accepted as the gold standard for performance and wear. EBC has set a new bar with their SR series of brake pads!

“Thanks again for producing a great product that we’ve so dearly needed!â€

Semprini Racing is using 91´«Ã½ Racing’s SR-11â„¢ pads in a number of race series around the UK

Jeremy Evans and Phil Hart are the drivers of the Tunbridge Wells-based Semprini Racing outfit – a team that is currently campaigning a K24-engined EP3 Honda Civic Type R across both the MSV Trackday Trophy and BRSCC Supersport Endurance Championship race series in the UK (also performing occasional rounds in the MSVT Trackday Championship and the BRSCC Clubsport Trophy).

The duo relies on 91´«Ã½ Racing’s SR-11â„¢ pads (front axle) and 91´«Ã½â€™ Bluestuff B pads (rear axle).

We catch up with the team as they enter their final rounds of 2025 – which proved to be a great success.

Read how it all panned out in their own words below…

“We managed to get the Civic back together after the crash and made the last two races of the year!

“After a mid-season crash at a wet Donington Park, the Semprini Racing Civic underwent an unscheduled rebuild!

“Joining up with the Club Racing UK team for the famous Birkett Relay, the EBC SR-11â„¢/Bluestuff-equipped Civic made its return to action on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.Ìý

“Pressed into action for two stints rather than the planned one due to an issue with another car in the team, Jeremy quickly got himself and the car back up to speed and posted a best lap time two seconds quicker than when they had raced at the circuit earlier in the season.”

“The final race of the season was in the Trackday Trophy at Brands Hatch and was a unique experience as qualifying had to take place behind the safety car because of fog. This meant grid positions were drawn out of a cup with Jeremy drawing P30 out of the 34 cars!

“Come race time and the fog had lifted but the rain had started. A very busy start at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit from P30 saw Jeremy stay out of trouble and then set about some overtaking… and some more overtaking!

“In tricky wet conditions, Jeremy relied on the excellent feel from the 91´«Ã½ setup and made up an incredible 25 places to finish 5th overall and 4th in class at the flag. In fact, Jeremy made up more places than any other driver!

“On to 2026 now and plans are already taking shape for another season with the Civic.”

Following a sensational 2024 season, with multiple accolades earned, we caught up with Jones towards the end of his 2025 campaign, fresh from the Oulton Park round, which proved to be another success story.

Read how the weekend panned out below in his own words…

“I’m very pleased to say I held the EBC flag high at the weekend, with most of my competitors asking ‘how the hell do I brake so late?!’

“We conducted a test day with the car and my long-term coach, Ben Clucas (also from Northampton) last week and found myself with a massive mountain to climb, being some 5.5 seconds off the lap time!

“By the end of a gruelling day, we got within 0.5 seconds of a decent lap time but I remained optimistic whether I could transfer that to race weekend. Well, the great news was, after subjecting myself to a couple of months of a strict fitness campaign and getting my car set up as best we could, it paid dividends with a hard-fought weekend.

“With just the Saturday at Oulton, Qualifying and 3 races in the Caterham 420R demanded all the fitness and endurance you could lay your hands on and fortunately, I felt good as did the car. Qualifying didn’t deliver any great results and my strategy didn’t work either, placing me down the grid in 9th for race one.â€

Race 1

“A great start off the line saw me up into 7th by turn one, but a car off at the same turn lap one initiated a re-start and a grid re-shuffle which didn’t play out good for me. Turn one again and I made up 3 places and on the back of the leading pack. The tyres coming up to temperature by lap 3 and the EBC brakes doing their magical stuff and me feeling good, I managed to start pushing through the pack and closing up to the leaders.

“A couple of the leading pack cars making some mistakes saw me take the advantage and pushing right to the chequered flag rewarded me with a 6th overall and a class podium, seeing me 3rd in class.â€

Race 2

“Only and hour and a half after the first race saw us lining up again for our second race of the day. A few tweaks to the setup and a new set of EBC RP-X™ front pads and we were ready. Another great start off the line saw me right on the back of the front pack again in 6th. A great battle ensued and the car and I were feeling awesome.

“By mid-race, we had made up another place into 5th and now starting to hunt down the leaders and whilst obtaining the fastest lap of the race. By the late second half of the race, a number of collisions occurred, ending the last few laps under the safety car. I was happy though, feeling great in myself and the car’s performance and together we were closing down fast on the leaders end only 0.3 seconds behind P5 though giving me a P2 in class and on the podium once again.â€

Race 3

“Directly after lunch, we lined up once again for our final race of the day. Now in P5 off the line, I could smell a win, or at least a top-3 overall finish. Again, I was feeling good and we did nothing with the car other than a subtle tyre pressure change.

“The red lights out and we fired off the line and putting us in 4th place by turn one. Staying in 4th and eyeing up the pack in front of me for the best and most suitable passing places, I started my move on the pack. A mistake by the leader saw the pack bunch up and also that of P5 and P6 cars who were now biting at my heels.

“With a hot pace still afoot, a number of ‘brave’ moves by the car behind me resulted in me having to protect my lines and disturbing my efforts for an attack on the cars in front of me, so some late braking moves into some of the main points on the track saw me back on the rear of P4 and the car behind me fading into the distance.

“With everything feeling good, I started to plan my move on the race leaders in front of me until one of these cars spun out in front of us at island Bend at well over 120mph and come back on track backwards directly in front of me and the car in front of me enabling the front leading pack to escape away and the car behind me to take the advantage and put me back to P5 though coming over the line with another podium finish with 3rd in class.â€
