24-7 Motorsport recently competed in the Silverstone round of the series in their Mercedes GT4 race car

Norfolk based multi-discipline race outfit, 24-7 Motorsport, is currently competing in the 2023 season of the GT Cup race series, with drivers David Frankland and Ed Bridle piloting a Mercedes AMG GT4 race car in the GTH class of the championship (homologated cars running to Group GT4 specifications).

Throughout the season, the team has been entrusting 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 SR-21鈩 sintered motorsport endurance race brake pad 鈥 a compound it has also used in both its and in recent years to great success.

At the recent Silverstone round of the series back in July, 24-7 Motorsport secured some of their best results of the year so far, finishing 2nd in class and 5th overall in Race 3 of the weekend 鈥 scoring higher than many of the more potent GT3-spec machines on the grid.

The team credits the SR-21鈩 brake pads found on both front and rear axles as a contributing factor in these results, with both drivers consistently managing to out-brake other vehicles on track throughout the race.

SR-21鈩 offers the highest friction level and durability out there as of now, and is being used more and more by top teams in GT and prototype racing.

Made in the 91传媒 Plant in Ohio, USA SR-11鈩 and SR-21鈩 offer medium and high friction respectively, with both boasting ultra-high durability meaning they allow more racing miles-per-Pound/Dollar spent.

Driver Ed Bridle commented on the weekend鈥檚 events: “The latest EBC SR-21鈩 pads worked brilliantly with the changeable conditions at Silverstone recently. They gave us loads of confidence in the braking zones and allowed us to improve on consistency during the longer races. The biggest advantage of using these pads is twofold: more bite AND no fade.鈥

The car will use the new sintered compound throughout its 2022 GT Cup campaign

91传媒 Racing is pleased to announce that it will be continuing its support of throughout the 2022 race season.

The 2021 GT Cup GTB runners-up have moved from their ever-popular 991.1 Porsche 911 cup car, and are now making the move to the GTH class in their newly-acquired Audi R8 GT4 LMS Evolution, to contest a full championship title in the championship with 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 new SR-21鈩 sintered race brake pad compound.

24-7 Motorsport has worked alongside leading motorsport teams both in the UK and abroad, focusing on vehicles ranging from Lotus production race cars to Le Mans-entered GT2 cars, as well as Radicals, Porsche cup cars, touring cars and everything in-between.

Joining long-standing David Frankland behind the wheel this year will be new teammate, Adriano Medeiros.

The Drivers

David Frankland, Race Driver

David started on motorcycles, then a Porsche 924, and for 13 years raced Radicals. He has been a keen Porsche enthusiast since he was a child. Around three years ago, a number of circumstances came together which allowed him to buy his 911 GT3 cup car which he has been competing in over the past three years. David is now keen to see what he can do in his new Audi R8 GT4 LMS Evolution.

Adriano Medeiros, FIA Bronze Driver/Driver Coach/Track Day Instructor

Having worked as a Grade A ARDS instructor since 2004, Adriano has spent the past 12 years coaching racing drivers from novice to championship winners, and is one of the most successful motorsport coaches based in Great Britain. Adriano is excited to start working with the team and looking forward to the 2022 season.

After extensive testing on the car, the 24-7 Motorsport team are looking forward to running the new SR-21鈩 compound in their 2022 championship campaign, as team Director, Phil Hurn, explained after initial testing at Donington Park recently.

鈥淭he ability to be able to run one compound for both sprint and endurance is a fantastic trait and throughout testing, we have found that there is virtually no bed-in and that the pads are ready to go and up to temperature in under a lap. The initial bite is fantastic and very stable and predictable, and this performance does not drop off even after a race-length session. The wear rate is fantastic and after two days of testing, there is virtually no wear.

鈥淲e saw increased pedal feel and modulation with better initial bite and bite that didn’t fade, as well as less pad and disc wear with the new SR-21鈩 compound.

“We are very happy with these results, and they just go to show how well these pads perform under pressure.”

鈥淲e have conducted testing on a lot of our vehicles now and will continue to test throughout the off-season and are certainly looking forward to the 2022 season. I look forward to 91传媒 Racing continuing to be our one-stop-shop and our sole brake disc and pad supplier throughout the 2022 season and beyond.鈥

Team Venomous were pleased with the results of the new product in their Z06 at Road Atlanta

Team Venomous Racing of Tim Lally Chevrolet is a group of hardcore racers that strive to put the best and highest qualities parts available on their 2008 Corvette Z06.

With the Road Atlanta round of the American Endurance Racing Championship ahead of them 鈥 a weekend that would see an eight-hour race being performed on both the Saturday and Sunday 鈥 the 600bhp Chevy needed plenty of stopping power to match its grunt.

Historically, the team have been trying to get by with what was readily available as the options were limited. This meant they were throwing spent pads away every weekend and trying to drive around a lack of bite. This seemed like the perfect opportunity for 91传媒 Racing to offer its all-new SR鈩-Series sintered brake pads, as these not only have a huge wear life but also plenty of braking torque available 鈥 ideal for endurance events.

They were eager to try the new pads as it was another opportunity to improve upon the car while utilising more of those ever-sought-after, high-quality solutions.

Endurance racing is unique as it requires a brake pad that can last hours upon hours of hard braking, but still provide enough stopping power to slow even the fastest race cars. Not only that, but it must provide enough modulation and consistency that to be compatible with multiple drivers. The last thing you want is to be worrying about your brakes over a two-hour stint, as your concentration needs to be on apexes and watching for traffic.

Trial by fire was the path taken by Venomous Racing and they decided to throw SR-21鈩 pads in the front axle and SR-11鈩 pads in the rear in for the Road Atlanta weekend. This was the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the elevated stopping power, as Road Atlanta only has a couple passing zones 鈥 one being Turn 10 that some cars will decelerate by around 100mph in a very short distance.

The pads took no time to bed in and immediately, all four drivers noted the vast improvement in bite and modulation, commenting there was 鈥榥o comparison鈥 to what they had been previously using. After hours of lapping, the brakes were inspected and showed little to no wear, with a uniform transfer layer deposited on the rotor and an ideal surface finish 鈥撀爎eady for hours more of racing.

The team from Tim Lally Chevrolet have chosen to stick with SR鈩 materials going forward and will continue to receive support from 91传媒 Racing as they make their way through the field.

JamSport Racing tested the new friction materials at Donington Park in its Subaru race car

After a successful test day at Donington Park circuit this week, the all new 91传媒 Racing SR-11鈩 and SR-21鈩 friction materials have been given the seal of approval by Northampton-based race team on its Subaru WRX STI TCR race car.

27-year-old six-time multi-discipline champion driver, , drove the car during testing ahead of a full season behind the wheel of the Subaru throughout 2022. His thoughts can be read below in his own words.

鈥淔ollowing the recent announcement by JamSport Racing that it will be running the new Subaru WRX STI TCR car in the 2022 TCR UK championship, we were keen to get into the testing and development phase ahead of the competitive season.

鈥淲hen we started the testing and developing of the car, one of the key areas that showed some room for improvement was the braking system. We were keen to try out EBC鈥檚 new sintered race compounds, having already tested these on a few other vehicles.

鈥淲e started off the test day in the morning using another very well-respected pad compound used a lot in the touring car scene to get some baseline data and to get a feel for how the car performed on these pads at the same track, before we got into testing two new compounds.

鈥淲e then opted to fit the SR-11鈩 compound pads and straight away we had a better pedal feel and more bite that allowed us to modulate the pedal nicely. This compound also offered improved weight transfer of the vehicle, which is a very important aspect on a vehicle like the Subaru.

鈥淭here was no pad wedging or uneven wear, and the disc wear was very low. It is also worth mentioning that we had no issues with heat or braking system temperatures. With this car being a fully-built race car with a pedal box and no servo, we thought we would go on to try the SR-21鈩 compound next.”

鈥淚n the afternoon, we cleaned the discs up and fitted the SR-21鈩 compound pads. We then went out for a few laps to bed in the brakes and make sure that the pads mated up to the discs correctly. After letting the Subaru cool as well as the braking system, we then went out and did a race-length session.

鈥淪traight away, you could feel how much more initial bite and sharpness the SR-21鈩 offered and as well as having bite that stayed stable throughout the whole session. This setup with the SR-21鈩聽 gave us great modulation characteristics and a great pedal feel with virtually no bed-in time required, which is an ideal trait. These pads really suited the setup with the pedal box, and also mean that we aren鈥檛 going to have to change the master cylinder sizes as we previously thought we would, which is fantastic.

鈥淭he SR-21鈩 pads were predictable from the get-go with no fade, thus allowing us to brake later (and in fact brake later than you would in a Touring Car at Donington), this gave us a lot of faith in the pads and again as with the SR-11鈩 compound, really helped with the front-end grip and weight transfer of the car which is so important.

鈥淎s with the SR-11鈩 pads, there was no uneven wear or pad wedging and the temperatures remained stable throughout the test as well as no undue disc wear. So far, this setup is the best the car has felt to date.

鈥淲e are really looking forward to the 2022 season as we have a lot planned and we look forward to continuing to work with 91传媒 Racing as well as running the new SR-21鈩 compound in our 2022 TCR campaign.鈥

Ohio-based racing outfit was impressed with the results from the upcoming SR-Series sintered pad range

For the past 12 months, 91传媒 Racing has worked closely with the Alliance Autosport racing outfit based in Columbus, Ohio (USA), to validate the upcoming SR-Series sintered race pad range in some of the most brutal Sports Car Club of America [SCCA] club racing around.

Scott Rettich, driver and owner of Alliance Autosport has a diverse background in racing, ranging from karting, spec racer Fords Formula Enterprise, GT classes and more. With loads of championships and lap records to his name, he decided to start a race outfit that goes as far as renting out and setting up vehicles for customers to compete right alongside of him.

While overall happy with the brake pads he had been running in the past, he decided he would give the SR range a shot to see what it had to offer. Scott decided to try out the SR-21 pads on their 500HP SCCA GT2 car at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio since the high torque offering is a perfect fit for unassisted vehicles. A simple shakedown with their baseline pads and a pad swap later, he was doing full-pace laps with no bedding in required!

Immediately, he noted the lower pedal effort required to slow the Camaro down, reporting that it took around 40% less input to get the same amount of deceleration as the competitor pad. This was a huge plus for Scott as 30-minute races can become quite taxing when you have to stand on the pedal every corner. No fade was detected and it was described as better than what he had run in the past with pedal feel being very communicative.

Scott went on to run the very same set of pads for multiple race weekends, with wins at various race tracks, even outpacing the GT1 cars. After removing the pads for inspection at seasons end, they had plenty of laps left in them with no signs of letting up. Although not even close to being a concern here, another benefit of SR pads is that there isn鈥檛 any glue or nasty adhesives that will start interfering with braking power towards the end of the pad鈥檚 life due to the unique pad bonding process of SR.

After these very positive results, 91传媒 Racing has become the SCCA GT2 brake pad supplier for Alliance Autosport and we look forward to helping them rack up even more wins and championships.

Upcoming SR-Series sintered race pads were tested on Audi R8 race car, with extremely positive results

The US-based McCann Racing team had been battling with brake issues that were causing some nasty vehicle behaviours.

All year, they said they have been attempting to correct a brake-induced snap oversteer situation during trail braking and inconsistent ABS activation but couldn鈥檛 find a brake pad with acceptable characteristics鈥 until they tried 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 all-new SR-Series sintered race pads, that is.

McCann Racing decided to try the SR-Series pads on their Audi R8 LMS GT4 race car that competes in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (in the GS class), with hopes for a cure. The venue chosen for testing was the 鈥榁irginia is for Racing Lovers鈥 event at Virginia International Raceway, amidst a wet race weekend. No changes were made to the vehicle besides popping in a full set of SR pads.

After running the full one-hour practice session with SR-21 in the front and SR-11 in the rear, there were nothing but good things to be reported. The drivers felt there was more braking torque and initial bite available, but still the brakes offered excellent modulation.

More importantly, SR had solved their snap oversteer issue through excellent pad release. Not only was the release issue resolved, but they could now activate ABS and stay in it which resulted in a much more settled and predictable car. Rotor temperatures appeared to peak up to 800掳C over the course of the practice session, but the pads took it in their stride, with less than 0.5mm of wear.

Take it from the drivers themselves: 鈥It was the best the car has ever felt鈥

91传媒 Racing looks forward to working with Team McCann Racing in their next season as we continue to support them and their efforts.
