Andy Howard, aka ‘Drift Across the World’, is aiming to drive his BMW from Australia to Ireland

Irish drifter, Andy Howard, is currently completing his epic ‘Drift Across the World’ journey across the globe.

Towards the end of 2025, Howard shipped his BMW 330i Touring over to Australia, with the aim of driving the car back to his homeland of Ireland whilst raising money for the Make-a-Wish foundation in the process.

He’s relying on 91´«Ã½ components for the stopping power on his trusty steed, as he drives, drifts and lives in the car over this huge journey. He’s running Bluestuff pads, USR discs and braided brake lines – a strong and reliable setup that should help him navigate the hugely varying and demanding terrain that lays ahead of him.

We caught up with Andy recently as he’d left Australia and entered Southeast Asia, with spirits high as he navigated his way through Malaysia and Thailand. You can read his update below…

“Wanted to send a quick update on the Drift Across the World project.

“The Australian leg is complete and I am currently in Malaysia, about to cross the border into Thailand. Which is crazy to think I am in Southeast Asia!Ìý

“The project has also generated over 200,000 followers and 20 million views on social media and continues to grow, while raising over $4,000 for much needed funds for Make-A-Wish International.”

“I’ve helped organise what will be one of the biggest car events in Malaysia called ‘Penang Autoshow’, happening on the 1–3 May. This will also raise funds for Make-a-wish Malaysia.

“Your support means a lot!â€

Rob Lewis entrusts EBC braking components in his Ford Focus ST170

For the 2025 season, Rob Lewis once again competed in the Modified Ford Series in his Mk1 Ford Focus ST170 (Class B).

Lewis has successfully campaigned within this championship for some years now, entrusting 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-Xâ„¢ motorsport brake pads for the front axle of his race car, and 91´«Ã½â€™ Bluestuff NDX pads on the rear axle throughout this time.

After catching up with Lewis after the first few rounds of the year, where car and driver had both been performing well and secured some class podiums, we next caught up with Rob after the final rounds of the season at Cadwell Park and Brands Hatch, where more podiums were clinched.

You can read how these two weekends panned out for Rob in his own words below…

Cadwell Park

“I arrived at Cadwell Park with a nervous energy; I had never set a tyre on the circuit before in any form, so it was always a case of learning and getting better. We also debuted a new greener look to the car to change it up slightly –Ìýit certainly was more noticeable!

“Qualifying saw some beautiful track conditions and, as I heading out, I felt at home almost instantly. Getting quicker, I managed to sneak in the top 15 overall and 5th in my class, the car itself felt superb and the stopping power of the RP-Xâ„¢ pads meant I had the confidence into the harder hairpin turns around the mountain. Game on!”

“Race 1: a good start on a tight grid meant the first few laps were a case of trying to find room to get into a flow and progress up the field. After the field had spread itself out more, the lap times quickly came tumbling down and I shaved a whopping two seconds off my qualifying time. The class podium was a realistic target and after dispatching the Mk1 Escort of Gary Johnson, I got my head down and worked on holding 3rd in class and a bank of points involved… My only problem was the turbo Puma catching me that wanted the same podium spot! Lap after lap of defensive driving in my most vulnerable areas and utilising my superior braking performance meant when the flag came it was a podium for me once again! 3rd in Class and 11th overall on my first race EVER at Cadwell Park.Ìý

“Race 2: after a driveshaft change overnight (a weak point on this setup this year) I started race 2 with even more confidence and quickly moved inside the top 10 and 2nd in class, Hot on the heels of Chris Baker, I got past on lap 3 and got my head down aiming for a class win into the 1:40.1 lap time. Then, it all came tumbling down: as I rode the kerb over Chris Curve, it ripped the boost pipe off and that was the race done. Gutted! We go again…â€

Brands Hatch

“Brands Hatch is always the highlight meeting for the year in the Modified Fords series, with crowds of 15,000 celebrating all things ‘blue oval’ as part of the Ford Power Live show. A grid walk allowed people to get close to the race cars and I had a lot of interest in my car in particular. Testing went okay but by the time we went out for qualifying, I knew the car was getting tired from a hard season’s racing: a failed connector pin had made sure I didn’t get a lap in qualifying which was really frustrating. Starting from the back of the grid, I made up a lot of spaces and was quickly battling my class competitors for the podium once again. Iain Blackley’s Puma was in 3rd and as he made a mistake coming out of McLaren, I looked to capitalise… Just as cylinder 4 dropped. Coil failure. Once again, a great result slipped through due to mechanical issue.”

“Then came race 2. Once again starting from the rear of the grid, I made my way through the field and onto the rear of Ian Blackley’s Puma once more. The handling characteristics of the cars are the same, but I found once again that under brakes, I had a significant advantage. The only problem with all of this was that Ian was driving a consummate defensive race. My final chance came on the last lap of the race. Using the superior braking advantage, I hung around the outside of the Puma at Druids and got the inside line for Graham Hill Bend… Podium once again! And retribution for a difficult start to the weekend.â€

Following a colourful 2024 season and some serious overhauls to the car over the winter, Lewis was back out in force for the first two rounds of 2025, held at Snetterton and Oulton Park respectively.

You can read how these two weekends panned out for Rob in his own words below…

“2025 has started off rather tough for the ‘EcobooST170’. During the opening round at Snetterton, I really fancied getting among my Class leaders after some changes to the car over the winter, including a full respray and chassis strengthening, as well as installing new versions of the superb RP-Xâ„¢ and Bluestuff brake pads.Ìý

“Qualifying was promising as I sat within reach of the podium. As Race 1 got underway, I battled with cars in classes well above mine and came off second best, damaging my car around Corum with a high-speed off. Eventually, I limped home to finish P5 in class and aimed to make up for lost places in Race 2. However, this was an early retirement due to hidden damage sustained during my off in Race 1 and my gearbox snapped a mount on Lap 1: gutting all round, but I never give up a good fight with the car under me.”

“Oulton Park was a very quick three weeks later, with a tight turnaround to repair the car from Snetterton. On a gloomy morning, I qualified the car P15 Overall and P4 in class.

“Staring as the class podium once again, the race started off with some close racing and positions gained. I sat P2 as the car headed towards the checkered flag. Then, as I headed to Deer Leap, it came… BANG! A driveline failure had ruined a chance of a P2 as I crawled over the timing line in the pitlane in P4 on the last lap.

“I genuinely thought that was game over for the weekend, but with a new driveshaft and associated parts sourced from other competitors and being willed on by the paddock, we got the car together and took the start for Race 2 at the rear of the grid. I drove from the back to P6 overall and P3 in class. FINALLY! A result worthy of the hard work. The best part about that result? It was the great brakes provided by EBC that allowed me to perform some of the overtaking on my competitors; the confidence in knowing that the braking performance is there when I need it the most.Ìý

“Now we look forward to Mallory with four races on the very fast circuit; this should suit the car perfectly as it’s a perfect equaliser to the higher-powered cars in my class. Let’s give it a go!â€

Hayden Renton uses Bluestuff pads and GD discs on his E36 BMW Compact

Hayden Renton has been competing in the Drift League GB championship throughout 2024, in his EBC-Equipped BMW E36 Compact.

The car proudly sports Bluestuff NDX pads (front), Bluestuff B pads (rear) and GD Sport discs (all-round).

Below, Renton gives us a summary of his season, following his finish on the top of the podium at the final round at Teesside Autodrome recently…

“What a weekend and what a way to show off to the home crowd! Qualifying 3rd on Saturday with a 90.7, then winning the event on Sunday, this is definitely an event that will last long in the memory.

“But not without any issues that is…

“Our Top 32 saw us take a by-run due to qualifying high enough to achieve one, then the Top 16 saw us face off against Callum Allonby. Perfect driving as always from Callum putting a near perfect run in and inviting me to get nice up close and personal too his door!Ìý

“Our Top 8 battle saw us face off against Nerijus Cickevicius in his monster of an E46! Once again putting down a lovely line for me to be able to put it to his door.”

“Then, Top 4 is when disaster struck, with the car shutting off in the holding area just before our battle against Ian Leggett. The car was just unresponsive to the start switch and power, but with a bit of perseverance and love, I managed to calm down and think through the issue. I tried bump starting, which didn’t work. Tried the ignition again, didn’t work. At this moment it seemed I had been stopped in my tracks by car issues but after a quick minute to let the car have its moment it fired back up and ran like nothing ever happened.

“We gave it our all in our battle against Ian, knowing he’s a fast driver sticking it to his door and even giving him a love tap. Once again, that saw me through to the final where I faced Kuba Kozlowski.”

“Wow. What a battle it was; Kuba giving me nudges on the first run made me know I had no other choice other than to risk it all.Ìý

“But risking it all is what I did and it paid off!Ìý

“Let me tell you: the 91´«Ã½ did some serious work with the amount of left-foot braking going on.Ìý

“Huge thankyou to all of my sponsors, friends and family for helping and allowing me to do these events!â€

Following a successful first half of the season, which included Lewis’ first podium finish, the latter part of the year was equally as successful, with the driver racing at multiple venues as well as showcasing his car at some popular shows.

Read how the last few months have panned out for Rob in his own words below.

Donington Park

“Following on from promising pace at Castle Combe, I headed to Donington Park with three races to do in one day and a lot of high hopes! After a reasonable Qualifying, the car made sure I got knocked down to earth in Race 1 with a bump: a two-race-old genuine ford Turbo solenoid hose failed, putting me to the back of a 40-car grid once again!

“In Races 2 and 3, I battled my way back through the pack to respectable finishes in Class (4th and 5th) and more lessons learned with the new turbo engine.â€

Snetterton

“We then headed to Snetterton with some confidence; it’s a circuit I always test at and one of my favourites to drive. Qualifying was awesome – I qualified 3rd in Class and 10th overall on a 41-car grid… and fastest FWD on the grid!Ìý

“Race 1 then produced some hard racing including a very bum-twitchy moment heading into Murrays – Neil Argrave lost his Escort on the gearbox oil dropped on the outside and made for some superb photos! Needless to say, I was rather happy to come out unscathed! 4th in class and 17th overall after some of the big power cars made it past, I was happy with that! Race 2 resulted in an early retirement after a driveshaft failed.â€

The British Motor Show

“I am both lucky and privileged enough to represent and be an ambassador for a brilliant mental health charity called Driven Minds, the car was on display at the British Motor. Show in the Motorsport area right next to Petrolheadonism! I had a great time over the show talking about the racing and spreading the word about Driven Minds and the superb 91´«Ã½.â€

Brands Hatch Ford Power Live

“This was the highlight event of the Modified Fords calendar, including a very busy grid walk! Both races were in front of a 20,000-strong crowd as part of the Ford Power Live show. After a reasonable qualifying putting me 14th overall and 7th in class, before working my way through in Race 1 and 2 to 10th/7th overall (and 5th/4th in class finishes). These results then earned me the overall Driver of the Day award presented by the series sponsor Scalextric. Really proud to earn that at the series highlight event.Ìý

“That rounds up my 2024 racing exploits. As for 2025… the plan is a full rebuild of the car with some fresh chassis work, some potential gearbox tweaks and of course… 91´«Ã½ stopping me!â€

The owner of this iconic Japanese sports car used Bluestuff NDX pads and two-piece floating discs

The owner of this Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-300 SST purchased the much-loved car a few months ago now, with the car coming equipped with some unknown plain discs and pads that were asking to be upgraded to match his fast-road driving style.

He soon found himself looking at 91´«Ã½ products, soon snapping up some Bluestuff NDX brake pads and a set of 91´«Ã½ Racing’s two-piece fully-floating discs.

Running this brake setup for a few months, it seems that it was the perfect solution to help him enjoy driving his new rally-bred machine.

Read his thoughts on his own words below…

“Having installed late last year, I carried out some light bed-in/surface mating and no noise was present, and the initial bite straight out of the box seemed very good and a vast improvement over the OE pads that had been fitted previously.

“I carried out 250 miles of mainly B-road driving around the countryside with some dual carriageway and motorway usage also (wet and approx. 4°C). From my initial thoughts, it seemed as though very minimal bed-in was required.

“The cold bite and initial friction level was a vast improvement over my previous experiences with other brands, and on a car like the Evo, this Bluestuff NDX actually seemed to be better suited due to the higher temperature working range, friction level, and initial bite.”

“These pads also sustain a nice amount of modulation and fade resistance with a very progressive friction level during both low and high pressure stops. I was unable to get the pads to fade on the street and I feel that these will continue to work well as a fast street pad.

“Feel: as stated above, the modulation and consistent friction of the pad is confidence inspiring and they provide a very positive pedal feel.

“Noise: as of yet, I have not had any issues with noise or squealing, not from high speed nor low speed crawling.â€

Update

“Bluestuff NDX in the Evo were a great upgrade and I put approximately 2-3000 miles on them, they still felt nice and progressive with a good level of initial bite and no fade. Very little noise was present from the pads on both high and slow speed stops. I had a chance to pull the pads out to inspect and check for wear and the wear on the pads was minimal and they still look like new!

“I fitted these as a premium fast-road/track pad, and I wasn’t disappointed! The performance was great on the road and when being pushed hard, furthermore there is enough cold bite there for them to be useable on the street without the need to warm them up. All in all, I am a big fan of them, and I would personally say a huge improvement over my previous setup.

“I enjoyed my experience with the two-piece floating discs/rotors and Bluestuff NDX so much so, that I have since upgraded to a 91´«Ã½ Racing 6-Piston Apollo Big Brake Kit with Bluestuff NDX pads fitted.â€

Rob Lewis entrusts EBC braking components in his Ford Focus ST170

For 2024, Rob Lewis is once again competing in the Modified Ford Series in his Mk1 Ford Focus ST170 (Class B).

It’s been a busy year so far for the racer, who carried out a number of substantial upgrades to his car over the winter period, including a whole-new engine setup with more power now on tap.

You can read how the first three rounds have gone in his own words below.

“It’s been full-on since my season started! The new Ecoboost engine setup is working wonders in the Modified Ford SeriesÌýso far.â€

Round 1 – Silverstone

“This was an unknown and a chance to see where my car now stood compared to the rest of the grid. I took home 8th and 7th in class positions out of 17 (16th & 12th Overall). I knew what was needed going to round 2 but overall felt the car had processed really well since 2023.Ìý

“The most important thing was how the brakes kept the fantastic performance with an extra 100hp and 200ft Ibs going to the wheels! Love the RP-Xâ„¢ ±è²¹»å²õ.â€

Round 2 – Oulton Park

“Once again going into this round, I was wondering if setup improvements and map tweaks since Silverstone would push me further up the grid! Well… race 1 certainly proved that! CLASS PODIUM for 3rd in class and 7th overallÌý– really chuffed and a testament to the car! The brakes were a huge part of this success.

“Race 2 gave me 5th in Class and 10th Overall after some scraps! Coming away with a podium really boosted my confidence heading to my ‘home’ round.â€

Round 3 – Castle Combe

“This round took place on May Bank Holiday, and was planned to be a hectic 3-race day! It was certainly hectic! After a gearbox mount sheared in qualifying, I didn’t set a time so was 41st and stone dead last.Ìý

“In race 1, I was passing cars to get to 21st overall and 8th in class before a safety car ended my charge. I geared up for a wet and shortened race 2 and went further through the grid to 19th Overall and 7th in Class. I needed more time!ÌýÌý

“Race 3 fell foul of curfew so only two races for the day!

“Overall I’m 4th in the class standings out of over 20 cars – consistency and finishes are paying off!Ìý

“The next round for me is Donington Park GP on June 22-23… once again I’m looking forward to more progress and hopefully some more podiums!â€

The two EBC-equipped cars achieved mid-pack results at Brands Hatch

Bedford-based Team Hamster Racing (also known as Porsche and German car specialist, TH Racing) have been competing in the 750MC BMW 116 Trophy for a few years now, entrusting 91´«Ã½â€™ Bluestuff brake pads from the start.

For 2024, the team has entered two cars into the series, both of which continue to sport Bluestuff pads.

The first round of the year took the roadshow to Kent’s Brands Hatch, where challenging weather conditions saw the cars achieve solid mid-pack results, and boasting plenty of potential for the season ahead.

You can read how the weekend panned out in the Team Manager’s own words below…

“The weekend started very damp and only got wetter. With two sprintÌýracesÌýon Saturday, we had a baptism of fire as the conditions got worse and worse.

“We didn’t let this put a dampener on things though, finding the cars to be very responsive in the wet. I was racing in the second sprint in car 83 and having qualified right in mid-field (14th out of 34), we fought hard, moving up the order, to finish 12th.”

Ìý“On Sunday we had the 90-minute enduranceÌýrace. This was fraught with incidents. One particular team, mentioning no names, appeared to have decided they could win by knocking everyone else off.

“Our customer’s car was hit on lap 1. Then, halfway through the first stint, #83 was hit so hard the airbox came off. With #82 finding its way into the gravel at the bottom of Paddock Hill in its second stint, unfortunately we weren’t going to be getting any trophies that day.

“Despite all this, and with both our cars having very long pit stops while they were repaired, both cars looked competitive and we still finished lower mid-field; not at the back as you would expect.

“Not the best start to the season, but definitely not the worst either. We all had a lot of fun and most importantly the brakes were great.â€
