The outfit runs a fleet of Mini rallycross cars, all of which sport a range of 91´«Ã½ products

The Bell Rallycross Team is once again taking on the BTRDA Rallycross Championship in a group of its race-prepared Mini cars.

This year, team founder, David Bell pilots his R60 Mini Countryman All4, which sports EBC’s Bluestuff front pads, Yellowstuff rear pads and GD discs/braided lines all-round.

There is also a group of R53 Mini Cooper S owner-driver cars that the Bell Rallycross Team maintains, all of which use EBC’s Bluestuff pads and GD discs (front), along with Ultimax 2 pads and Premium D discs (rear).

The first weekend on the calendar took the team to Lincolnshire’s Blyton Park. You can read how it all panned out in the team’s own words below.

“Last weekend saw the team’s first outing for this season at Blyton Park, for Round 1 of the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship.

“David is the only full team member this year, however we will be looking after a handful of R53 Mini owner-driver cars, three of which were out at this round – the two novice drivers, Michael Amlin and Gus Glass, and the more experienced Charley Moroney.

“The All4 Mini class is mixed with the production and modified 4×4 categories in the BTRDA Championship, so some of the opposition have a bit more power than the Mini, thus creating some interesting and close racing throughout the day. In the Final, David made a reasonable start and dropped into 4th spot, maintaining that position to the finish as the 2nd-place Mini.

“In the R53 Minis, the two novice drivers had a mixed day, but gained valuable seat time. Charley, on the other hand, had a better day and posted some quick times throughout the qualifying heats, making a blinding start in the final that put him out front ahead of the battling pack. He managed to hold off a late charge from the categories’ top qualifier to take the flag in 1st position.

“Our next event is at Lydden Hill Race Circuit for the Five Nations British Rallycross Championship, on the Saturday and Monday of the Easter weekend.â€

Class-leading Zac Blackwell performed an incredible comeback drive in the Kumho BMW Championship

Zac Blackwell is currently competing in the 2022 Kumho BMW Championship, piloting his Mini Cooper S in the ‘E’ Class of this series that accommodates these hot hatches.

Blackwell was leading his class as the fiercely fought series headed to its penultimate round at Derby’s Donington Park recently.

His Mini Cooper S has featured an 91´«Ã½ Racing Apollo Big Brake Kit with RP-Xâ„¢ pads throughout the year, which Blackwell has been impressed with so far.

Blackwell explains how his incredible weekend panned out in his words below.

“Coming into the Donington Park round, I was hoping to leave with the championship a sealed deal. It would require me to get at least two third-place finishes, with rival Rob Austin requiring to win both races to beat me. I therefore felt we could wrap up the championship providing we had no issues.

“Qualifying went well, bagging pole position by just under a second so I was happy with that and that fed the confidence going into race 1.

“In race 1, we got off to a slow start, initially being out-jumped by Rob. A quick decision into turn one left me with the class lead, only to be overtaken by Rob on the first lap. I managed to re-take the lead in the same turn on lap 2. There we lead comfortably until lap 6, where I got a front wheel puncture, ending with a DNF and only scoring three championship points and leaving us at the back of the grid for race 2.

“For race 2 we were starting in last place. I knew in the back of my head the championship was now to be decided at the final round, so a sensible drive was all that was needed and try to limit the damage as much as possible without causing a second DNF. I still had the devil on my shoulder telling a win would be awesome from last place! So, off the start, a few quick decisions had me making moves and into 5th and on the tail-end of the front pack. Taking a position each lap, I found myself in the lead by lap 5, where I controlled the race until the end. Some fantastic battles and some really enjoyable passes and clean racing were had! I can’t thank 91´«Ã½ Racing enough for giving me the extra braking power and control I had into turns with their new Apollo Big Brake Kit – they really have made the difference.

“A huge thank you to everyone involved helping me get to where I am this season – I wouldn’t be able to do it without you all.â€

The Autoworks Mini Challenge race car clinched the top spot at the final round in Barcelona

The Mini Challenge race car of the Autoworks Motorsport outfit has secured both D4 Division victory and Class victory (bringing Divisions D4, D5 and D6 together) in the 2021 Campeonato de España de Resistencia [Spanish Endurance Championship] series.

Piloted by drivers Héctor Hernández and Borja Hormigos throughout the year, the Mini sported 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-X motorsport brake pads throughout the season, following a successful 2020 campaign running RP-1 pads.

The impressive victories were confirmed at the fifth and final leg of the year; a two-hour race held at the prestigious Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 14-15 November.

Following successful free practice and qualifying sessions on the Saturday, the race started cautiously on the Sunday due to the cold and slippery conditions on the circuit.

This allowed Héctor to gain confidence and to take ground away from his rivals, giving him enough of a gap for the team to stay in first place even after the driver change for the second half of the race.

Borja was able to bring the car home in front, securing not only division but also class victory for the season. This adds another two titles to the duo’s belt, joining the win they obtained in their debutant 2019 season.

After the podium ceremony, Héctor and Borja declared “we are very excited: the team has worked very hard and with great enthusiasm during this 2021 season, so it was great to be able to put the finishing touch to an excellent season this weekend. We want to thank the support of 91´«Ã½ Racing throughout the season, as well as the rest of our sponsors.â€

Héctor and Borja already have their sights set on 2022, in which they will continue to compete in the Spanish Endurance Championship with some exciting updates that will be announced soon.
