High-performance road/track brake upgrade now available for front axles of these acclaimed British sports cars

91传媒 Racing is pleased to announce the launch of its popular fully-floating two-piece front brake discs for Lotus鈥 Evora and recently-launched Emira models.

These rewarding, lightweight sports cars have become known in recent years for their excellent driving dynamics, making them a common choice for track days and spirited road driving, meaning upgraded, lighter and more reliable brakes are of vital importance to owners.

The 370x32mm discs can be bolted directly onto the front axles of these vehicles, offering impressive braking performance and longevity, particularly when driven hard on and off the track.

– EBC鈥檚 370mmx32 (front) two-piece fully floating discs are a simple bolt-on upgrade that seamlessly replace the original brake discs without vehicle modification.

– EBC鈥檚 SG2F fully floating disc allows the outer cast-iron friction ring to expand freely with temperature, totally eliminating warping.

– Discs are grooved to allow the pad to vent without drilled holes, which can become epicentres for disc cracking.

– Race-derived G3500-grade high-carbon cast iron is used for the friction rings. This high-quality metallurgy possesses greater crack resistance and an increased ability to conduct and then dissipate heat.

– Aluminium bells are machined from aerospace-grade aluminium and then hard anodised for longevity, whereas the stock brake discs use uncoated cast aluminium bells.

– Cast iron friction rings feature 48 curved vanes and are handed for each side of the vehicle. This significantly improves the brake disc鈥檚 ability to dissipate heat, increasing brake system endurance and prolonging the onset of brake fade.

– Bobbins are machined from stainless steel which cannot rust, ensuring the disc continues to float freely throughout its entire life cycle on the vehicle, even on road cars.

– Spring clips ensure totally silent operation and eliminate off-brake disc rattle.

– Friction rings can be replaced individually after they have become worn, allowing the aluminium bell and stainless-steel bobbins to be re-used, leading to lower long-term operating costs.

– Now featuring the latest thermic black corrosion-resistant finish鈥搕he very latest in rust prevention.

Marko Baller tested the 91传媒 Racing motorsport friction material at the demanding Belgian circuit

In the autumn of 2021, track day regular Marko Baller took his trusty Lotus Elise S1 to Belgium鈥檚 much-loved Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for another full day鈥檚 track action.

Keen to try the new line of 91传媒 Racing motorsport friction materials, he installed a set of RP-X pads on all four corners of his roadster before the day began.

Following a successful day out on the intense 4.3-mile circuit, Marko gave us his thoughts on the product, which can be viewed below.

鈥淚 was at Spa recently with the 91传媒 Racing RP-X brake pads installed. The car uses standard Lotus calipers with 290mm front discs and 282mm grooved 91传媒 rear discs.

鈥淲hat can I say? They brake consistently and hard! Brake feel was very proportional to foot pressure, with no increase or decrease in friction while braking. This made it very easy to control. Want more? Press harder. Want less? press less.

鈥淔riction coefficient was high, but not excessive. In the non-servo assisted Lotus Elise, they were easy to use even while blipping the throttle the same time.

鈥淐old friction was pretty much the same as hot 鈥 as expected from a pad of this calibre. They squeal a little when cold, but when hot on track they were silent with a remote mechanical noise transmitted into the pedal from the slotted brake discs 鈥 all good and normal.

鈥淚 asked a friend who is a very experienced and fast driver to drive my car, first alone and then with me as a passenger. This was properly scary! He is a long-term user of a rival brake pad, but liked RP-X (and the rest of the car) very much.鈥

Northern Irish race veteran tried the high-performance friction material in his race/driver training vehicle

The name Martin Donnelly will be familiar to the majority of self-respecting motorsport enthusiasts in Britain, following the Northern Irish driver鈥檚 foray into Formula 1 back in 1990 in the distinct Camel-liveried Lotus. After his stint in F1, Donnelly continued to pursue a successful career in the industry, becoming a development driver for Lotus Cars, as well as racing in works Nissans and Jaguars for Le Mans.

More recently, Donnelly has focused on his driver training business,聽, where he shares his impressive skills with those hoping to develop their competitive driving careers.

He also occasionally competes in the Lotus Cup UK Speed Championship series, alongside his son, Stefan, as well as the MSVR Elise Trophy series.

Donnelly recently tested 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 RP-X鈩 track/race brake pad in his Lotus Elise 1800 championship race car and was very positive with his feedback.

RP-X鈩 possesses an extremely high friction level of 0.55mu between 0 鈥 850掳C and achieves 100% brake effect from cold. This makes it an excellent choice for everything from track days through to competitive sprint racing or hill climb events, where full brake performance is essential without requiring any 鈥榳arming up鈥.

Martin鈥檚 feedback can be read below in his own words.

鈥淭he bedding-in process was very good 鈥 it didn鈥檛 take more than a lap and a half for the brakes to be leaned on into the hairpins etc.

“I used a gradual progression of heat build-up on the straights, eventually applying into the corners too.

鈥淐ompared to other compounds I鈥檝e used on the car, these are simply the best. The wear rate is very good. The feeling and performance, especially in wet conditions at this circuit, were exactly what I was looking for.

鈥淕ood, progressive feel from the brake pedal allowed me to trail brake all the way into the apex of the corner without getting any grabbing or lock-up.

鈥淭he brakes now inspire confidence; braking later into corners especially in the wet conditions allows me to carry more speed from initial braking to the apex, thus gaining more time on our V-Box data system.

鈥淭he brakes produce no noise or judder when in use.鈥
