The teenage kart star showed off her incredible driving talent at the Oxfordshire circuit

Lizzy Mentier is a young female kart racer that is really making a name for herself, having secured no less than four Mini Max Championship victories in 2021.

This year, the Junior Rotax star displayed her unbeatable skills behind the wheel again at the early Shenington Kart Club round recently.

Mentier uses 91´«Ã½â€™ Green-Formula kart pads. You can read how she got on during the weekend of racing below.

“We entered this round as a last-minute decision as we had no other race meetings to attend that weekend. There were 24 drivers entered into my class. It was also a random grid position, so no qualifying took place.

“For Heat 1, I started in 20th position, but managed to secure a first-place finish with a lead of 5.8 seconds to boot!

“I also clawed some positions back in Heat 2, starting in 10th and getting taken out on the first lap to move to the back of the grid, but still finishing in 3rd.

“Heat 3 saw me starting in 2nd and moving up to finish first with a lead of 3.1 seconds.

“With these results, I started in pole position for the Final – a position which I managed to hold until the end of the race, winning with a lead of 2.7 seconds.

“A massive thank-you as always to my partners and sponsors!â€

Jensen Powers and Milo Manderson competed in the Junior Max class at Glan-y-Gors in Wales

Jensen Powers and Milo Manderson are both competing in the various kart championships throughout 2023, with their first outing in the Super One series taking them to North Wales’ Glan-y-Gors circuit in April.

Both drivers continue to entrust 91´«Ã½ pads in their karts, with varying weather conditions leading to some challenging drives across the weekend, as you can read below in the team’s own words.

Milo Manderson

“An amazing start to our Super One campaign in Junior Max for Milo. We have had to move from our usual #77 to #82 which was Milo’s granddad’s racing number and it has brought us some luck!

“Milo only went and put it on pole in timed qualifying! We did not quite have the pace in the heats or final to trouble the front two, but a 4th and a 3rd left us with P3 for the final. Milo’s side of the grid got away poorly and he dropped to 6th, only to fight back for P3.

“Milo drove his socks off and delivered some great results. One pole position, two third-place finishes, two seconds a DNF, Milo also drove from 16th to 6th in the Sunday final, leaving him P5 in the championship standings with not a mark on the bodywork all weekend! On to Rowrah at the end of the month for Rounds 3 and 4.â€

Jensen Powers

“And so this weekend, the Super One circus commenced with the opening rounds at the most picturesque Glan-y-Gors Kart Circuit in North Wales.

“Friday was practice day, and we yielded little really with rain on an off throughout the day. Saturday was Round 1, which was a far better day weather-wise and performance-wise.

“A lottery draw gifted Jensen only 23rd place to start on the grid for qualifying, not the greatest start to the day. Jensen drove well in the qualifying session and gained a further five positions. So, starting now in 18th for Heat 1, it was all systems go. Turn 3 and 4 have been very much Jensen’s Achilles heel at all previous outings at Glan-y-Gors, but today was different. Micro-modulating his 91´«Ã½, Jensen nailed several undertakes and at last finally was ‘giving as good as he had got’.

“Heat 2 saw much the same and as a result Jesnen gained 13th place on the grid for the final. A couple of places lost at the start but the with hard driving, JP picked off the drivers in front and crossed the line in 9th position. Alas though, a little over confidence attempting yet another undertake from just a wee bit too far back going into Turn 3 led to rubbing bumpers with a rival and afforded Jensen a five-place penalty.

“Sunday was another fine day weather-wise, and now 11th place in the new championship meant this would be Jens’ grid position for qualifying. Qualifying though not so fruitful as the previous days still awarded 15th place for the heats. A multi-kart battle in the first corner in Heat 1 pushed us down to 19th place, but again Turns 3 and 4 was the turn of choice to grab places back and Jensen finished in a well-deserved 12th.

“At this point, the weekend had been a bit of a cracker, but the proverbial kick in the wheel ‘nuts’ spoiled the party. An ill-fitting wheel ripped a stud from the front hub and a DNF was the reward for the ‘mighty minnows’ valiant efforts ALL weekend.â€

Jensen Powers and Milo Manderson both secured front-running finishes at Oxfordshire weekend

Jensen Powers and Milo Manderson are both competing in the various kart championships throughout 2023, with the latest race weekend taking them to Oxfordshire’s Shenington Kart Racing Club, where they competed in the Junior Max class.

Both continuing to entrust 91´«Ã½ pads in their karts, Powers and Manderson both put in fantastic drives throughout the weekend to gain some impressive results.

You can read more about how their weekends panned out in their team’s words below.

“This weekend’s high-octane journey took the team to a classic track: Shenington Kart Racing Club circuit near Banbury.

“Saturday’s practice sessions ran trouble-free for both Milo and Jensen, and all looked promising for the last run of the day in Heat 1. In particular for Milo, as his motor proved to be in fine tune, posting fastest laps in the earlier sessions.

“Our youngest pilot, Jensen, was to start Heat 1 in pole position and with his well-controlled formation lap, a green light start was in the offing. Milo made a strong start, holding position going into the first turn and Jensen gained a two-kart lead out of the Cafe Complex and continued to pull away from the pack.

“The usual ducking and diving ensued until the heavens opened with only three laps remaining. All drivers showed Senna-esque skills, keeping their machines on the rails in truly monsoon conditions and on slick tyres too!

“Jensen fought hard but was eventually overtaken and now down into third, but he was not to be beaten and recovered second place in the tightest of race finishes. Milo also drove with exceptional finesse in the same treacherous conditions, gaining some nine places and finishing in 6th position.”

“So it was onto Sunday – race day – and Heat 2 had a particularly questionable formation lap, but start they did. And it was to be young Milo’s day; simply in a class of his own, totally dominating both Heats 2 and 3 with the fastest laps in each to boot.

“Onto the Final, with Milo in a well-earned pole position and again with a well-disciplined start, he held the lead for 15 fully-charged laps until his pre-raced Kimbolton tyres could no longer provide the optimum grip and the chasing, more experienced driver on new tyres finally took the lead with just two laps to go. Alas, second place it was to be for Milo by just 0.05 of a second, what a race!

“Sadly, Jensen’s final was to be cut short by a unexplainable mechanical issue whilst he was making his way up the order.

“What a weekend – many, many positives for both Milo and Jensen and what a confident position to be in going into the next race which is the opening round of the much-coveted 2023 Super One Championship… good luck boys!â€

Final round at Whilton Mill helped secure rising star’s championship victory

Harry Hannam competed in his first British Kart Championship season throughout 2022, in the Junior Rotax Max Rookie category.

Supported by 91´«Ã½, Hannam used the firm’s brake pads on his high-performance kart, helping to eventually secure his class victory for the year after the final round at Northamptonshire’s Whilton Mill circuit recently.

You can read how the final weekend of the season unfolded in the team’s own words below.

“It was a double-header at Whilton Mill Circuit, meaning rounds 6 and 7 were on the same weekend.

“Friday was the official practice day for the preceding weekend of racing. Unfortunately, this resulted in a huge accident for Harry on a difficult, wet track. Harry injured his wrist and the team worked well into the evening to fix the kart.

Saturday – Round 6

“Struggling with the arm injury and the wet/drying conditions brought another disappointing qualification result, although somewhat expected. Harry finished 46th out of the 51 Junior drivers. In Heat 1, a brave drive from Harry saw him rise from a starting position of 31st up to 18th by the chequered flag. More of the same in Heat 2, where again, he drove through the back half of the field from 31st to 18th again. The final was a disappointment as Harry’s wrist injury started to affect his ability to put consistent fast laps together, finally finishing in 33rd place.”

Sunday – Round 7

“Now with an over-worked right arm from the previous day’s racing (overcompensating for the weak left arm) left us wondering how Harry was going to pull this off. During qualification, another difficult qualifying session with wet conditions made it even more difficult, with Harry finishing 42nd out of the 49 drivers. In Heat 1, starting 28th, the usual progress was made again, with 11 places being made, meaning Harry finished 17th in the 12-lap race, setting the fastest Sector 2 of the race. In Heat 2, Harry started from 28th place, again climbing his way to 19th. More importantly, there was another heat to go for the other drivers (every driver drives two out of the three heats), giving Harry’s arms more time to recover.

“In the final, Harry started 25th. A huge crash on the first corner caused chaos for the mid and rear pack drivers. Harry was spun around and ended up facing the wrong way yet managed to drive back up the field and finish a very creditable 13th place. He was the highest-scoring Rookie on the day and sealed the Junior Max Rookie Championship in the process.

“Overall, a fantastic first season in the British Kart Championship, huge thanks to 91´«Ã½ for their support throughout the season, Roll on the 2023 Championship.â€

The rising star had another successful weekend at Cambridgeshire’s Kimbolton Circuit

Following a rollercoaster of a season so far, kart racer Harry Hannam recently raced in the fifth round of the British Kart Championship at Hunts Kart Racing Club in Kimbolton, specifically in the Junior Rotax Rookie category.

It was here that Harry managed to achieve his first pole position in the national series, with some impressive racing allowing him to continue his lead in the Rookie championship.

Supported by 91´«Ã½, Hannam uses the firm’s brake pads on his high-performance kart. You can read how his weekend unfolded in his father Dan’s words below.

“This was our first visit to Kimbolton in Junior Max, which was compromised by the cancellation of the official test day, meaning Harry only had two eight-minute sessions to familiarise himself with the Cambridgeshire circuit against 50 other Junior Max drivers.

“Qualification: After a season of problems in qualifying, finally, it all came together with Harry putting it in pole position!

“Heat 1: Leading off of pole, it was a tough first heat and the inexperience showed as Harry fought hard to finish 9th.

“Heat 2: We had a better race in Heat 2. Rain affected the last few laps, resulting in a contact between multiple drivers as they battled to keep the slick tyre-shod karts on the wet track. Harry crossed the line in 5th, only to receive a harsh penalty, placing him down into 21st.

“Pre-Final: Decent Pre-Final, with Harry gaining 10 places (from 27th up to 17th), no penalties and finishing in 17th.

“Final: It was an exciting final, battling for the top 10 positions and ending up in 13th at the chequered flag.

“A weekend ruined by a harsh penalty in Heat 1, but we still sit 15th in the British Championship and more importantly, are still leading the Rookie Championship.â€

It was a mixed bag of results for EBC-equipped Hannam at Clay Pigeon Raceway

Harry Hannam recently headed to Dorchester-based Clay Pigeon Raceway for the fourth round of the 2022 British Kart Championship recently, where he is competing in the Junior Rotax class.

Supported by 91´«Ã½, Hannam uses the firm’s brake pads on his high-performance kart.

You can read how he got on across the weekend in his words below.

“The struggles in qualifying continued as they had done all season – we were only 0.3 seconds from pole position, but in the ultra-competitive championship, that translates into a 33rd place in the 47-kart grid.

“We started heat 1 in 22nd place, on a track that is very hard to overtake on, so could only make up four places to finish 18th.

“Heat 2 was no better. We were struggling with tyre pressures and could only make up two places and finish 20th.

“Very average results in the heats, but it did give us enough points to qualify directly into the pre-final in 27th place, avoiding having to qualify through the repechage.

“The pre-final went much better than the heats; the overnight set-up changes paid off. Starting 27th, we passed 14 karts to finish a respectable 13th

“For the final, we started in 13th and were involved in a race-long battle to get into the top 10, only to be knocked off the track by a competitor. Then the problems compounded by a nose cone penalty resulting in a five-second penalty pushing, us all the down to 25th.

“A frustrating weekend, but we still sit 15th in the British Championship and more importantly, are still leading the Rookie championship.â€

EBC-equipped kart racer headed to Scotland for the second round of the 2022 season

Following a , Harry Hannam recently headed to Larkhall Circuit in Scotland for the second round of the 2022 British Kart Championship (Junior Rotax class).

Supported by 91´«Ã½, Hannam uses the firm’s brake pads on his high-performance kart.

You can read how he got on across the weekend in his father Dan’s words below.

“This was a new track for Harry: Larkhall in the west of Scotland, and it took a while to get used to the 1140-metre track.

“Qualifying was tough: 0.4 seconds off pole put Harry back in 35th overall, meaning he would start the heat races in 18th place.

“The heats were very lively affairs; ultra-competitive as the Junior Rotax Class always is. Harry made his way forward in both heats, getting faster with every lap as he familiarised himself with the new circuit, finishing both heats in a respectable 14th and more importantly moving Harry straight through to the pre-final.

“Starting 24th in the pre-final, Harry drove well, setting fastest laps during the race, crossing the finishing line in 17th only to suffer a nose cone penalty adding five seconds to his overall time, thus pushing him down to 27th.

“Starting the final from 27th was always going to be difficult but with the confidence of finally feeling he was used to the circuit, Harry set numerous purple sectors fighting his way up to 13th and with three laps to go, another top 10 finish looked to be on the cards.

“Unfortunately, it was not meant to be as contact with another driver ended up in a hard hit into the wall. It took nearly 30 seconds for Harry to pull the kart out from under the fence, determined to finish but sadly resulting in crossing the line in 33rd.

“Harry now sits 20th overall in the championship but importantly still leads the Rookie championship.

“Onto Round 3 at Warden Law on July 22nd.â€

EBC-equipped kart racer put in some great drives at Lincolnshire’s PF International circuit

Following a stint of successful campaigns in the UAE in recent years, 13-year-old Harry Hannam is taking on the Rotax British Kart Championship for 2022.

Supported by 91´«Ã½, Hannam uses the firm’s brake pads on his high-performance kart.

The first round of the championship was held at the impressive PF International kart circuit in Lincolnshire recently.

Harry reports how testing went very well, with the teenage star securing easy top-10 finishes throughout the session.

Qualifying was a disappointment for the team, with Harry being held up from the pre-grid before even getting onto the track, then receiving contact from other drivers during the session meaning he eventually qualified 50th out of 60 drivers.

Hannam started 25th on the grid for heat 1, driving well to gain 15 places and get up to 10th place, only for a bumper penalty to push him back down to 16th by the end.

Starting in 25th again for heat 2, a fantastic drive helped Hannam gain 20 places in 12 laps, securing him 5th places by the end of the race.

The pre-final was a very messy affair, with Hannam starting 18th and moving up through the field, only to get pushed off the track on the fourth lap and re-joining in 32nd place. With some great driving, Harry climbed his way back up to 23rd, only to eventually be pushed down to 27th after a penalty.

Harry therefore started the final in 27th. A stunning first lap saw him take 10 places, gaining another seven during the rest of the races to get the top-10 result that had been the goal all weekend. From a poor qualifying to an excellent final, it was a weekend of ups and downs for the team.

Hannam now sits 17th in the British championship overall and leads the Rookie championship, ahead of the second round in Larkhall, Scotland in June.
