Marcus Hudson uses EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads as he competes in the British Championship class

Kart racer Marcus Hudson is once again campaigning in the Northern Karting Federation Super 4 British Championship for the 2026 season. Hudson relies on 91传媒鈥 Green kart pads for his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

Following some thrills and spills in his first round of the year at Fulbeck, Hudson has been back in the seat of his real-world machine for Round 2 of the championship at Forest Edge Kart Club. The weekend yielded a positive set of results, with the team rounding out the meeting with a hard-fought seventh-place finish in the final to back up a competitive set of heats.

Read on for Hudson鈥檚 account of the weekend in his own words鈥

Super 4 2026 British Championship Round 2: Forest Edge

Heat 1

鈥淪tarting from the second row, I got a strong launch and initially held position well. However, for the opening stages of the race I struggled badly with understeer, particularly through Midgets and Tilly鈥檚, which allowed a kart behind to get through and dropped me back to fifth place.

鈥淔rom there, the race became an intense battle for fourth. I spent virtually the entire heat tucked right under the rear bumper of the kart ahead, applying constant pressure and trying several different moves to find a way through. Despite a number of attempts, I just couldn鈥檛 make a pass stick and eventually crossed the line in fifth position.鈥

Heat 2

鈥淟ining up 20th on the grid, I made a monster start and immediately gained several places by avoiding a couple of slow starters. By the first corner I had already climbed to 15th.

鈥淥n lap two I picked off two more karts, moving up into 13th, and from there the race became incredibly close. At the halfway point, positions fourth through to fourteenth were covered by just 10 seconds, showing how competitive the field was.

鈥淥n lap seven, I passed a slow-moving kart that appeared to be struggling with an issue, promoting me to 12th place. With two laps remaining, the kart behind managed to get a stronger run down the back straight and I lost the position again. The racing remained tight right to the flag in another highly competitive heat.

鈥淥n the final lap, a kart a couple of positions ahead spun on his own water, which shuffled the order once more in another hectic finish to an extremely close race.鈥

Heat 3

鈥淚 made an immediate gain on lap one with a move at Haynes Loop, before pulling off another pass out of Midgets heading into Climate. Early on, we found ourselves in a long train of karts all being held up by fifth place.

鈥淟ater in the race, I lost two positions going into Midgets, dropping me back to 10th, but the pack remained tightly bunched behind the battling karts ahead. On the following lap, heading down into Winger鈥檚 Dip, sixth place made a move underneath fifth. That forced fifth place off-line and created an opening for several of us to get through, keeping us right in the middle of the battle.

鈥淔rom there I was fighting hard with the five karts ahead but, despite staying in the mix, I just couldn鈥檛 make a move stick.

鈥淭he race was eventually red-flagged with just under two minutes remaining after a kart went off entering Midgets 鈥 one of the fastest sections of the circuit, approached at around 95mph. Thankfully, the driver was okay.鈥

Final

鈥淥ur heat results put us eighth on the grid for the final.

鈥淚n the early laps the understeer issues returned, as we again struggled to get the tyres working quickly enough. On lap two I lost a place coming out of Midgets, but a retirement ahead soon promoted us back into eighth.

鈥淔rom there, the race became a long battle for seventh with kart 59. I was slightly quicker in places and stayed right with him throughout the race, but despite the pressure I couldn鈥檛 quite find a way past. Towards the closing stages my tyres began to fade, although the two of us had managed to build a six-second gap back to ninth place.

鈥淥n the final lap, the race leader retired, which promoted us up to seventh position at the flag to round out the weekend.鈥

Post-Race Analysis

鈥淚t was a solid weekend and the first in years where we had no issues on either Saturday or Sunday, with nothing to fix and the kart running well throughout.

鈥淎fter Round 2, the team sits 7th out of 24 in the championship standings.

Stay tuned to hear how Marcus gets on as the 2026 Super 4 British Championship season continues鈥

Marcus Hudson uses EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads as he competes in the British Championship class

Kart racer Marcus Hudson is campaigning in the听Super 4 British Championship听for the 2026 season.

EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid continues to be the brake setup of choice for Hudson and his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

Following positive results in 2025, we caught up with Hudson after the first round of the 2026 season at Fulbeck Kart Circuit, Lincolnshire, where technical issues did little to dampen his optimistic spirits.

You can read how the weekend panned out in his own words below鈥

Super 4 2026 British Championship Round 1 Fulbeck

“It was a challenging weekend at Fulbeck, where tricky conditions and engine management played a key role in the overall outcome.”

Heat 1 (Grid: 9th)

“The opening heat got off to a difficult start, dropping a position on the first lap. However, the pace quickly improved, gaining one place on lap two and another shortly after. Midway through the race, a position was lost again, resulting in a 9th place finish.

“Following the heat, changes were made to the kart to address a lack of power. The engine had been running on the rich side as a precaution, given previous reliability issues in the cold Fulbeck conditions. While this approach helped ensure engine longevity, it did compromise straight-line speed.”

Heat 2 (Grid: 5th)

“A strong start saw progress up to 3rd place in the early stages. Unfortunately, positions were lost during the middle phase of the race, eventually finishing in 6th. Despite this, the setup changes made after Heat 1 showed clear improvements, providing a positive step forward.”

Heat 3 (Grid: 12th)

“Starting from 12th on the grid, a solid opening lap gained two positions, moving up to 10th. From there, the race stabilised, maintaining position to the finish.”

Final

“Based on the heat results, we earnt a 10th place grid start out of 24 drivers. However, a grid issue meant starting from 12th, immediately putting the race on the back foot.

“At lights out, the kart lacked straight-line speed compared to earlier in the day, and two positions were lost heading into Turn 1. Settling into a tightly packed train of around seven karts, the race became highly competitive, especially while navigating backmarkers.

“With four laps remaining, drama unfolded ahead as two karts collided at the final corner. The kart directly ahead checked up to avoid the incident, resulting in slight contact, but both of us managed to exit the corner ahead of the incident without losing further positions鈥攃rucial given the poor run onto the main straight.

“In the closing stages, two more positions were gained, securing a 10th place finish after a hard-fought race.”

Post-Race Analysis

“Back in the paddock, it was discovered that only one side of the power valve was not functioning, costing an estimated 4bhp. Combined with the conservative rich engine setup, this explained the lack of straight-line performance throughout the day.

“Despite this, it was a positive outcome overall鈥攆inishing all races and, importantly, leaving Fulbeck with a reliable engine intact in notoriously difficult conditions.”

Championship Standings

“After Round 1, the team sits 8th out of 24 in the standings鈥攁 solid foundation to build on.”

Looking Ahead

“Next up is Forest Edge in Hampshire this May, a circuit not visited since 2017. With lessons learned from Fulbeck, there鈥檚 optimism heading into the next round.

Thanks to all my sponsors!”

Marcus Hudson has relied on EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads

Kart racer Marcus Hudson is campaigning in the Super 4 British Championship for the 2025 season.

EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid continues to be the brake setup of choice for Hudson and his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

Following more solid driving at Fulbeck recently, Hudson soon found himself at the final round of 2025, set at Hunts Kart Racing Club, Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire.

Read how the action panned out in the team鈥檚 own words below鈥

Heat 1 (Grid: 12th)

鈥淟ap 3 brought chaos out of Turn 3 onto the back straight; four karts tangled out of Turn 3 and suddenly I was threading my way through karts pointing all directions. Both me and Kart 27 had to back off to avoid the carnage, and I merged back into 8th. A few laps later, I tried to follow a couple of karts making a move on Kart 73 into the final corner. I dived up the inside too, but as he moved across, I clipped his rear tyre and ended up stuck on top of his kart for a few seconds.

That cost me two positions, dropping me to 10th with just two laps to go. I regrouped quickly, retook the two spots I had just lost, and crossed the line in 8th.鈥

Heat 2 (Grid: 18th)

鈥淕ot off to a lightning start, darting past three karts into Turn 1. It was elbows out and chaotic, but I emerged in 13th 鈥 up five positions in just a few hundred meters. On Lap 3, I sent it up the inside into Turn 1 to grab 12th. A few laps later, I out-braked Kart 14 into the last corner, had the inside line, and powered past down the start/finish straight to move up to 11th. I was 2.6 seconds behind 10th at that stage, and managed to close the gap down to 1.4 seconds by the chequered flag.鈥

Heat 3 (Grid: 4th)

鈥淭he weather turned just as we went onto the dummy grid 鈥 rain hammering down, forcing all 21 drivers to swap slicks for wets. We couldn鈥檛 touch the kart setup though, so it was wet tyres on a dry setup. On Lap 1, disaster nearly struck on the back straight: Kart 8 was stopped at 90 degrees across the track. As I approached, he crept forward slightly and I had to swerve onto the grass to avoid him. Another kart wasn鈥檛 so lucky and hit him square on, resulting in an ankle injury for that driver. From there, my kart was almost undriveable 鈥 no braking, no turn-in, and no traction out of the corners. I slipped backwards lap by lap, but wrestled it home in 10th.鈥

Final

鈥淏ack in the paddock we finally got the kart set up for the wet, with a fresh set of tyres bolted on. Starting 9th on the grid in pouring rain, the kart felt much stronger. I latched onto the back of 8th, looking for a way past. But on Lap 4, heading down the start/finish straight, I hit standing water and aquaplaned. The kart snapped sideways, spinning me 360 degrees into the tyre barriers, then another 360 back onto the track. Luckily, I kept the engine alive and stayed in 1st gear, flooring it immediately to avoid getting collected in the spray by the chasing pack. The Battenburg flag was thrown so the marshals could rebuild the barriers I鈥檇 demolished. My kart still drove, but the front bumper was scraping the floor and the engine wasn鈥檛 delivering power smoothly. I suspected a cracked rear engine mount from the impact, but decided to push on. Despite the damage, I only lost five spots in the crash and restarted 14th. I fought as best as I could with the wounded kart, clawing back three positions to finish 11th.

鈥淲e finished in 8th place in the 2025 standings out of 20 drivers. The year had some highs and sometimes we were at the wrong place at the wrong time. We will work in the off season to come back fighting.

鈥淟ooking forward to the presentation Awards Evening in January in Coventry.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support through this season and previous seasons as it is much appreciated and helps a lot.鈥

EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid continues to be the brake setup of choice for Hudson and his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

Following a very positive first half of the year, the roadshow took Hudson and the team back to Lincolnshire鈥檚 Fulbeck Kart Club recently, where more solid driving kept him in good overall championship stead.

Read how the action panned out in the team鈥檚 own words below鈥

Super 4 2025 British Championship Round 5 Fulbeck听

Heat 1 (Grid: 11th)

鈥淔rom the very start, the kart didn鈥檛 feel right 鈥 we were clearly down on power and it felt like we were standing still as karts streamed past. After lap 7, disaster struck as the engine nipped up going into Turn 1, forcing us to retire from the race. Thanks to some excellent teamwork in the paddock, we managed to replace the engine and get everything ready in time for Heat 2.鈥

Heat 2听(Grid: 7th)

鈥淥ff the grid and down into Turn 1, I made up four places straight away, but as the pack bunched up ahead, I was forced off onto the grass and rejoined down in 17th. By lap 3, I鈥檇 worked back up to 14th, joining a close battle with the karts in 11th 鈥 13th. For several laps, it was two-by-two down the start/finish straight, all of us fighting hard into Turn 1. After four laps of intense wheel-to-wheel action, I finally cleared the group to move into 11th. From there, I picked off another kart to reach 10th, and with two retirements ahead, I crossed the line in 8th. Given how the race started, it was a strong recovery.鈥

Heat 3听(Grid: 5th)

鈥淭he opening lap was physical, and I was shuffled around into Turn 1 but emerged in 7th place. I set about chasing down 6th and managed to out-brake them into Turn 1, moving up. With 5th place in my sights, I closed the gap but couldn鈥檛 quite get close enough to launch a move. Lapped traffic in the closing stages helped and hindered us, but ultimately, I brought it home in 6th; a solid result.鈥

Final (Grid: 10th)

鈥淲e lined up 10th for the main final. By lap 3, I鈥檇 gained a position at the Bus Stop and was part of a huge battle for 7th 鈥 12th, with all of us nose-to-tail. On lap 9, a kart ahead dropped water at the entry of the bus stop. The kart in 7th span on it, and with the pack running so close together, we all piled into the incident. Stuck for over 20 seconds, our race was effectively ruined. Once back on track I pushed hard to the flag, but could only manage 13th at the finish.

鈥淭he next round is the final round of the championship at Kimbolton in Cambridgeshire. Massive shoutout to Raymond and Jason for all the hard work over the weekend and getting the engine replaced between heats.鈥

EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid continues to be the brake setup of choice for Hudson and his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

Hudson has enjoyed a very positive first half of the season, accumulating points in the first few rounds, ahead of attending the most recent leg at Cumbria Kart Racing Club鈥檚 Rowrah Circuit.

Here, unseasonal weather played host to a mixed weekend, as you can read in the team鈥檚 own words below鈥

Super 4 2025 British Championship Round 6 Rowrah

鈥淚t was a challenging but eventful race day with highs, lows, and a strong finish that showed both pace and resilience.鈥

Heat 1 (Grid: 4th)

鈥淚 got a good launch and managed to drive up the inside of the #57 into the left-hand hairpin.

鈥淪oon after, the #27 retired, which promoted me to the lead. I held onto P1 for three laps, but was eventually passed and dropped to second. With two laps to go, #3 kart dived up the inside going down Lakeside Straight. This put me wide and onto the curb allowed another kart through, dropping me to 4th. Despite the late-race drama, the kart felt great throughout the session 鈥 especially impressive considering I only managed five wet laps in Saturday practice due to the weather.鈥

Heat 2 (Grid: 10th)

鈥淚 made a strong start and gained a few positions. Unfortunately, on the second lap, a crash unfolded right in front of me in the left-hand hairpin. I had nowhere to go and made heavy contact with one of the karts, which caused mine to stall. That ended our race early, which was especially frustrating given the strong pace we had shown in Heat 1 and the potential to climb further through the field.鈥

Heat 3 (Grid: 8th)

鈥淢id-way through the race, I had a run on the #59 going into the left-hand hairpin. He was struggling for pace, so I moved to the outside. As expected, he began to push me wide, so I switched strategies and cut back to try the undercut. Just as I did, another kart came over the top of mine, resulting in a dramatic incident. #59 and the kart that rolled were both out (thankfully, the driver was okay). I continued for another corner, but as I went to brake for the next right-hand hairpin, the kart shot straight off the circuit. The impact had snapped the steering wheel bolt, disconnecting it from the steering column and forcing us to retire.鈥

Final

鈥淒espite two DNFs, our P4 finish in Heat 1 helped salvage a mid-grid start鈥攍ining up 12th out of 20 for the final. At the chicane on Lap 1, chaos erupted with karts going in all directions. I managed to thread through the carnage cleanly and gained a few places, though I lost some in the melee that followed. I moved up two positions and was soon on the bumper of #41. He was a bit too eager on the throttle out of the final corner and spun, gifting me another place. On Lap 9, I was chasing #3 when he retired, promoting me to P8. For the remainder of the race, I was right on the tail of #34, attacking through the chicane, both hairpins, and into the final corner, but couldn鈥檛 quite make a move stick. We crossed the line in 8th place.

鈥淲hile two DNFs hampered our points haul, the 4th in Heat 1 and solid drive in the final to 8th salvaged a respectable result. The kart felt strong throughout the day, and with better luck, we would have been well inside the top 5. Plenty of positives to build on heading into the next round.

鈥淲e are currently sitting 7th in the championship with two rounds to go and next stop is Fulbeck in Lincolnshire in August.

鈥淭hanks to all my sponsors Maxview, Silkolene, Charmed Interiors, NGK Spark Plugs, 91传媒, HairStyles, Carter Haulage and Listers BMW.鈥

Read how the action panned out in the team鈥檚 own words below鈥

Super 4 2025 British Championship Round 3 Shenington

Heat 1 (Grid: 7th)

鈥淎 tough start saw me drop five positions off the line due to getting boxed in with nowhere to go. I managed to recover one spot immediately with a move into Turn 1. Later that lap, going into Stratford, 11th place collided with 10th from behind, sending them both off the circuit and promoting me further up the order. With two laps to go, another kart went off at Bruno, and on the final corner of the last lap, drama unfolded as a kart dropped water onto the track before retiring. Two others spun off as a result, while I kept it clean and crossed the line in a solid 6th place.鈥

Heat 2听(Grid: 15th)

鈥淥ff the start, there was an incident with a few karts and one kart rolled over bring out the red flags immediately. Thankfully the driver involved was ok and made it out for heat 3. On the full restart a strong opening lap saw me make a move at Caf茅 Corner and gain five more positions across the lap. Mid-race, I got a great exit out of Grandstand, allowing me to out-brake the kart ahead into Stratford and move into 9th. Two laps from the end, a retirement ahead bumped me up once more, and I finished the heat in 8th place.鈥

Heat 3听(Grid: 9th)

鈥淚 started well, making a pass exiting Grandstand onto the straight. Despite my pace, I got stuck behind another kart and just couldn’t find a way past. On the penultimate lap, chaos unfolded at the final corner when the kart in front of me misjudged his braking. He avoided the kart directly ahead but ended up hitting the one two places up, spinning him around. I capitalized on the incident and moved up two places, finishing 9th, exactly where I started.鈥

Final

鈥淢id-way through the race, I lost a position into Stratford. In the closing stages, the kart began to develop some issues, and I had to defend hard. On the last lap, I hugged the inside heading into Stratford, forcing the driver behind to attempt an outside move. He lost control and spun off on the inside of me, allowing me to maintain my position and finish the final in 9th place.

鈥淲e are at Rowrah in Cumbria for the next round of the British Championship at the end of June and we are running in 6th place in the championship.听

Super 4 2025 British Championship Round 2 Fulbeck听

鈥淪aturday was a productive day as we dialled in a solid setup on the kart. We found a good balance early, which gave us confidence heading into race day.鈥

Heat 1 (Grid: 10th)

In Heat 1, things started off promisingly as I moved up through the field. On lap 6, while making a move for 9th place, I ended up tangling with another kart. The contact broke my right steering arm and caused the tyre to come off the rim, forcing a DNF.鈥

Heat 2听(Grid: 20th)

鈥淗eat 2 saw a strong recovery. I gained 7 positions on the opening lap, jumping from 20th to 13th. I managed to pass a kart through the middle of the Boot Complex, and after another competitor retired, I was up another spot. A well-timed out-brake into Turn 1 gained me another position. Mid-race, I was stuck behind 6th and 7th but kept the pressure on. With a few laps left, 6th place had a poor exit out of the last corner, which also compromised 7th. I got a great run and managed to pass both on the straight, crossing the line in 6th place.鈥

Heat 3听(Grid: 3rd)

In Heat 3, I dropped to 8th, struggling particularly with traction onto the straight. The rising temperatures in the afternoon required us to lean out the engine, but we opted to play it safe to avoid a potential engine failure.鈥

Final

鈥淚 started the final in 9th and brought it home in 10th. It was a consistent run, and although we didn鈥檛 move forward, it was important to collect solid points.

鈥淎fter this round, we’ve moved up to 6th in the championship standings 鈥 a positive step forward with plenty of racing still to go. For the next round we head to Shenington Circuit in Oxfordshire. Massive shoutout to Raymond and Jason for all the hard work over the weekend.

Marcus Hudson uses EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads as he competes in the British Championship class

Following an overall 7th-place finish in the 2024 season of the Super 4 British Championship, kart racer Marcus Hudson is back campaigning in the 2025 series, with the first round taking the roadshow to Three Sisters Circuit in Wigan.

EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid is once again the brake setup of choice for Hudson and his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

Read how the action panned out in the team鈥檚 own words below鈥

Super 4 2025 British Championship Round 1 Three Sisters

鈥淪aturday practice didn’t go very well as the kart was not handling and to make matters worse the engine blew up after the second session, snapping a conrod. We replaced the engine and as we only now had one engine left, I went out for a few installation laps to check the engine was ok for race day. This gave us no time to set the kart up which wasn’t ideal.鈥

Heat 1 (Grid: 3rd)

鈥淲e lined up 3rd for the heat but weren’t really confident in the kart. Finished the heat in 9th out of 19. After the heat, we adjusted the kart鈥檚 setup to help with the handling.鈥

Heat 2 (Grid: 12th)

鈥淚 lost two places at the beginning but regained those two places back the following lap. The kart was feeling better which was good and we moved up another position on lap 3. A few laps later I had a good run around Lunar and down the straight, I sent it down the inside, out-braking the kart into the 1st corner which we haven’t been able to do for a while, and took 10th place. I was happy with the improvements we made and went a bit further for heat 3 on setup.鈥

Heat 3 (Grid: 15th)

鈥淪tarting from 15th on the grid, I knew I鈥檇 have to make some aggressive moves early on to climb through the field. As the lights went out, I got a solid start and by the end of lap 1, I鈥檇 already made up 6 positions. Two of those were from karts that didn鈥檛 get away cleanly off the grid, while the other four came through the Esses after the first corner. The kart鈥檚 handling felt much better compared to previous races, which made a huge difference in how confident I was pushing through corners. The improved setup allowed me to make decisive moves without losing stability. On lap 4, a key moment happened when a kart lost the rear and spun out, taking another kart with them. This incident moved me up to 7th place, and I managed to maintain that position through the remainder of the race. Despite the pressure from behind, I kept my focus and crossed the finish line in 7th, pleased with the progress I鈥檇 made during the race.鈥

Final

鈥淲e lined up 9th on the grid for the final after a solid set of heat results. I held position through the opening laps, but things took a hit on lap 5. Coming out of the fast right-left flick, I hit a bump that unsettled the kart and sent me off into the tyre wall. Managed to get going again and rejoined down in 16th. From there, it was all about the comeback. A retirement moved me up a spot, and I quickly closed in on the pack. A kart had an off at the Esses and rejoined slowly, leaving a gap to another kart 鈥 I saw the opportunity and dived through.

鈥淟ater that lap, I gained another position, and one more the following lap. Caught up to the next kart, who was clearly struggling. I managed a better exit from the pit corner and got the move done on the way out. On lap 14, #85 crashed out, giving me another place, and with just one lap to go, a kart spun, letting me through to finish 8th. I鈥檓 happy with that result, especially considering the off. The changes we made to the kart setup throughout the day really paid off and gave me the confidence to push back through the field. From where we were on Saturday, coming away with 8th in the final and strong heat results is a solid result for the team.鈥

鈥淩eally happy with the setup changes we made throughout the day 鈥 they made a big difference. Considering where we were on Saturday, finishing 8th in the final and putting in solid heat results was a strong outcome for the team. Looking forward to carrying this momentum into the next round. Massive shout out to Raymond for all the hard work over the weekend. Next up: Fulbeck, our home circuit.鈥

鈥淏ig thanks to all my sponsors.鈥

Marcus Hudson uses EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads in the real world

Kart Racer, Marcus Hudson, competes in the Super 4 British Championship, using EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid in his ABKC 250cc National kart.

During the off-season, he kept his eye in by competing in various sim racing championships, not least the gruelling with the Offline Racing team in a GT3-class Porsche.

With 49 teams entering, Offline Racing secured impressive results after the endurance stint, as you can find out below in Marcus鈥 own words鈥

鈥淥ffline Racing competed in the iracing Bathurst 12 Hour race. Phil Lvov started the race on a damp, greasy circuit and got up to 5th in his first stint.

鈥淢arcus Hudson then took over for his first stint and moved from 26th to 11th in torrential rain, but the rain stop half-way through his stint and the circuit was getting drier and drier.

鈥淎ndrew Caskey took over and had a moment coming out of The Chase and went off. Luckily, he had no damage and came into the pits and changed to slicks as the circuit was drying 鈥 he was one of the first to do this.”

鈥淗e made great progress up to 4th in his triple stint (3 hours non-stop). Unfortunately, the rain fell again and we pitted one lap later than we should and lot just over 40 seconds due to being on slicks on a wet circuit.

鈥淧hil started another stint (over half the race gone and he hadn’t seen a dry circuit). It did dry out for the end of his stint and Marcus did the final stint and the team finished in 11th place out of 49 teams.鈥

Stay tuned to hear how Marcus gets on in his real-world racing as the season starts again soon鈥

Marcus Hudson uses EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads as he competes in this British Championship class

Young kart racer, Marcus Hudson once again competed in the Super 4 British Championship for 2024.

EBC鈥檚 Green kart pads and BF005.1 silicone fluid is the brake setup of choice for Hudson and his fiery ABKC 250cc National kart.

The final race of 2024 took the roadshow to Cambridgeshire鈥檚 Hunts Kart Racing Club in Kimbolton, where he fought off technical issues across the weekend to finish his championship in a respectable 7th position.

Find out how this round went down in Marcus鈥 own words below鈥

Heat 1 (Grid: 9th)

鈥淎s I headed into lap 2 going into Stow, I sent it up the inside of number 34. Later in the same lap as we entered Dan Weldon Corner, I slid up the inside of 53, I was gaining on 27 and a few laps later passed him out of Kestrel and finished in 7th.鈥

Heat 2听(Grid: 2nd)

鈥淭here was a crash between two karts in the first corner on the first lap and the circuit had a virtual safety car for the incident that happened in the Willows. This took 2 laps to clear up, I used the time to try and keep some heat in the tyres. On the restart, I had no traction out of the last corner and was a sitting duck going into the first corner. During the race I was struggling with traction out of the slow corners and slipped back to 6th.听We changed the setup for the next heat to help with the traction issue.鈥

Heat 3听(Grid: 14th)

鈥淢ade a good start, but was 5-wide and couldn’t get any room for a manoeuvre, I had no space anywhere to capitalise on the good start but I made up a position going into the first corner. 59 in the Willows slid under me, I knew he was carrying too much speed and he slid wide and I managed to cut back underneath. On lap 8, number 2 had a water hose issue which put water onto the circuit as we entered Dan Weldon Corner, which we approach at 98mph, 7 of us were following very close and had no time to do anything and all 7 span off. As I was spinning, I managed to control it so I kept the kart on the circuit, however I was facing the wrong way! I thought if I can spin it back around quicker than the other guys that have gone off that’s 7 places I can make up, I did a 180 spin and off I went and gained 6 places moving me up to 8th.听 The alterations we made to the setup didn’t help improve the traction issue.鈥

Final

鈥淲e lined up 7th on the grid for the final and, with the issues we had over the weekend, this wasn’t bad. Unfortunately, as we set off the grid, I knew I still had the traction issue. I fought as best I could with what I had underneath me but dropped to 10th halfway through the race. I was pushing 9th and trying everything to pass him but on entry to some slow corners I was all over him but lost the advantage on the exit. It was frustrating that the main passing place going into Stow I couldn’t utilise as coming out of the last corner I couldn’t get the power down and lost ground on him meaning I was too far back to send it in Stow. It was frustrating that we couldn’t sort the traction issue out and this meant we couldn’t move forward. This was the last round of the British Championship and with the final standings announced we finished the season in 7th place just missing out on 6th by just a single point.

鈥淟ooking forward to the presentation Awards Evening in January in Coventry.听

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my sponsors for your support through this season and previous seasons as it is much appreciated and helps a lot.鈥
