EBC-equipped Lower is racing in the Caterham 310R Championship

Caterham racer Charlie Lower has been using 91´«Ă˝ Racing components for many years now, predominantly in the 270R category and more recently dabbling in some rounds of the 420R Championship last year.

For 2025, he’s campaigning in the fiercely-fought 310R Championship, continuing to utilise RP-X™ race pads (front axle) and Bluestuff pads (rear axle) of his Team Perry Motorsport machine.

Following some extremely promising results in the first few rounds, not least at the most recent round at Thruxton, Lower was next found at the scenic Anglesey Circuit, where a stormy backdrop played host to more impeccable driving.

You can read how the weekend unfolded in his team’s own words below…

“The third round of the Caterham 310R Championship brought the grid to the stunning but brutal Anglesey Circuit in North Wales; a track known for its dramatic scenery, changing conditions, and intense technical challenge. It was a weekend of highs, heartbreak for Charlie Lower and Team Perrys Motorsport.”

Testing: Finding Grip in the Gusts

“Testing got underway in typically Welsh weather, with strong coastal winds sweeping across the circuit. But Charlie and the team got down to business quickly, working through setup changes and finding a balance that gave him real confidence, especially under braking with his EBC brakes into the notorious Rocket complex. The signs were good heading into qualifying.”

Qualifying: Strategy Gamble, Solid Result

“With strong winds and an evolving track, Charlie opted to go out late in qualifying with a clean gap to run solo. But as the conditions shifted, it became clear that a tow was critical. He made the smart call to come into the pits and rejoin at the back of the pack for one last push lap, and it paid off. Despite limited time and a tough strategy call, Charlie clocked in P4 for both Race 1 and Race 2. A strong result under the circumstances.”

A Setback Before the Start: Tyre Drama and Grid Penalties

“Unfortunately, a fault with Charlie’s tyre logging app meant his tyres weren’t correctly registered before Race 1 – a strict procedural issue that resulted in a major penalty: starting from the back of the grid in both Race 1 and Race 2, plus a 10-second time penalty in Race 1. It wasn’t how Charlie wanted to start the weekend.”

Race 1: Brake Late, Push Hard

“With a mountain to climb, Charlie did what he does best: attacked. Starting dead last and carrying a time penalty, he charged through the field with relentless pace and clinical overtakes. Once again, his confidence in the 91´«Ă˝ shone through, consistently out-braking rivals into Rocket with total commitment. Despite the odds, Charlie battled up to P7.”

Race 2: Pure Determination and Fastest Lap

“Race 2 demanded early aggression, and Charlie delivered. Determined not to let the leaders escape, he tore through the field, overtaking 13 drivers in just three laps, dominating the race in the early stages and once again making Rocket his personal passing zone.

“His pace was undeniable, clocking the fastest lap of the race and setting himself up for a potential victory. But with just a few laps to go, a rival attempted an over-ambitious move into Turn 1, knocking Charlie wide and down to P3. Undeterred, he came roaring back, pulling off a brave late-braking move into the uphill Rocket section to reclaim P2with fastest lap.”

Race 3: Tyres Fading, Spirit Strong

“With a reverse grid putting Charlie in P5 for Race 3, he knew it was going to be a battle. Early laps were intense, with multiple drivers swapping positions in the top six. But as the race wore on, Charlie’s tyres began to drop off, leaving him without the same grip he’d relied on all weekend.

“Even so, he fought hard to defend his position, driving smart and clean to bring it home in P4.”

Weekend Recap

“Anglesey threw plenty of challenges Charlie’s way, from penalties to on-track contact, but he turned it into a weekend of real progress. With two standout drives from the back of the grid, a fastest lap, and a return to the podium, Charlie showed just how much he’s grown in the 310R Championship. Backed by Team Perry Motorsport and confident in the brakes thanks to EBC, the momentum is building.”

After a successful first round at Snetterton, Lower was back for the second leg at Thruxton, where more podiums were secured in another successful weekend’s racing.

You can read how the weekend unfolded in his team’s own words below…

“This weekend, the fastest circuit in the UK, Thruxton, played host to the second round of the Caterham 310R Championship, and it delivered high-speed chaos, drama, and brilliance in equal measure. For Charlie Lower and Team Perry Motorsport, it was a weekend to remember, filled with bold moves, breakout performances, and hard-earned podiums.”

Qualifying: A Tactical Approach Pays Off

“Heading into qualifying, Charlie made the smart call to keep track time to a minimum. With Thruxton’s abrasive surface chewing through rubber, he kept his cool and executed just three push laps, and that was all he needed. Charlie secured P5 for Race 1 and an even stronger P4 for Race 2. A confident and calculated start to the weekend.”

Race 1: Brave on the Brakes, First Podium Secured

“Race 1 was a classic Thruxton scrap: drivers constantly swapping positions, with barely a tenth separating them in the slipstream battles. But Charlie showed he wasn’t just there to follow. With supreme confidence and pinpoint braking on his EBC brakes, he pulled off the move of the weekend. going later and harder into the corner to sweep past his competitors and snatch the lead.

“It was a gutsy move that turned heads. With more wheel-to-wheel action to follow, Charlie fought hard for the rest of the race, ultimately crossing the line in P3 – his first podium of the weekend.”

Race 2: Grit, Control, and a Tough Blow

“Race 2 was always going to be tougher. The aggression levels rose, and several drivers pushed the limits and in some cases, crossed them. Charlie had to call on his racecraft and awareness more than ever, avoiding dangerous moves and taking evasive action through the chicane multiple times to protect both himself and his competitors.

“He crossed the finish line in an impressive P2, but the result was later stripped after a protest over one of the chicane cuts, judged to have offered an advantage. A frustrating outcome that left Charlie classified P6, but it didn’t dull the fire heading into the final race.”

Race 3: Raw Talent on Full Display

“With the reverse grid format putting Charlie in P3 for the start of Race 3, it was time to attack. From the lights out, he showed blistering pace, out-braking his rivals and charging toward the front. For a time, it looked like victory was in his grasp.

“But motorsport can be cruel. Contact from another driver forced part of Charlie’s wheel arch into his tyre, sapping speed and putting him on the defensive. Despite the damage, he held off faster cars to secure another hard-fought P3 finish and his second weekend podium.”

Final Thoughts: Momentum Builds

“Thruxton tested everything: pace, patience, bravery, and resilience, and Charlie Lower rose to the occasion. With two podiums, a race lead, and more valuable championship points, this weekend was a breakthrough.

“Team Perry Motorsport continues to give Charlie the tools to shine, and as the season moves forward, it’s clear he’s becoming a real force in the 310R Championship.

“Next stop: Anglesey, and Charlie is more ready than ever.”

You can read how the first round went at Snetterton in his team’s own words below…

“The 2025 Caterham 310R Championship kicked off in sunshine at Snetterton, with Charlie Lower making his debut in the Caterham 310R category and his return to Team Perry Motorsport. With a mix of learning, fighting drives, and breakthrough results, Charlie wasted no time proving he’s a serious contender in this year’s title race.”

Thursday & Friday – Finding Pace and Confidence

“Charlie hit the track on Thursday for pre-event testing, using the day to get up to speed with the 310R machinery and dial in a setup that suited his style. Each session brought gains, and by the end of the day, Charlie was feeling confident, particularly with the performance of his 91´«Ă˝, which gave him the stopping power to push deeper into corners.

“Friday’s test sessions continued to build momentum, with Charlie putting in competitive lap times even on worn tyres, setting the stage for an exciting weekend ahead.”

Saturday – Tricky Qualifying, Strong Recovery in Race 1

“Saturday brought the first real test: qualifying under a new two time format to determine grid positions for races 1 and 2. The session quickly became chaotic, with drivers reluctant to return the tow leaving Charlie unable to string together a clean lap at full pace. Despite the setback, he managed P7 for Race 1 and P4 for Race 2.

“In Race 1, Charlie was determined to stay clear of first-lap drama and he did just that. Making a clean getaway and navigating through the pack, he was up to P4 by the end of lap one, consistently making moves under braking thanks to the confidence his EBC setup gave him. After a thrilling battle to the line, he narrowly missed out on P4 by just 0.07 seconds, finishing a strong P5.”

Sunday – Breakthrough Performances

“Ahead of Sunday’s races, the TPM mechanics discovered a few underlying issues with the car that had been holding Charlie back on Saturday. With those addressed, the car was finally performing at its full potential and so was Charlie.

“In Race 2, he launched off the line and immediately made ground, finding himself in P2 by turn two. It was a tense, hard-fought race from there, but Charlie showcased both pace and racecraft to finish P3 on the road, later promoted to P2 after a track limits penalty for a rival ahead.

“The final race featured a partial reverse grid, placing Charlie in P9. But once again, he nailed the start and pulled off a stunning move around the outside at turn one, jumping straight up to P2. In what became a race-long fight, he battled hard with some of the top drivers in the field and came home with his second podium of the weekend, finishing P3.”

Championship Intentions Set

“With two podiums, a haul of points, and serious pace shown across all conditions, Charlie and Team Perry Motorsport leave Snetterton full of confidence. The combination is already looking like one to watch in this year’s 310R championship, and with more seat time and momentum on their side, they’ll be gunning for even more at the next round.”

Charlie Lower uses RP-X™ and Bluestuff pads in the Caterham 420R Championship

Race driver Charlie Lower competed in the Caterham Seven 270R Championship , with countless podiums and race wins to his name.

For 2024, he has stepped out of his 270R race car and into a ferocious Caterham 420R as he campaigned in the Caterham 420R Championship – a move which has proven extremely successful so far.

Lower recently took a break from his new series to return for a guest round of the Caterham Seven 270R Championship at Donington Park, where he unsurprisingly excelled across the weekend.

Both Lower’s cars are proudly equipped with 91´«Ă˝ Racing’s RP-X™ (front) and 91´«Ă˝â€™ Bluestuff NDX (rear) brake pads.

Read how it all panned out in his team’s own words below…

“In an exciting return to the Caterham 270R Championship, Charlie Lower represented TPM in the final round at Donington Park, facing one of the largest grids of the season. After finishing as the championship runner-up last year, Charlie rejoined the series for its thrilling climax, with TPM and 91´«Ă˝ backing him. The task wasn’t without its challenges, however, as Charlie also had to navigate a new tyre compound and shifting weather conditions at Donington.”

Thursday – Dialling in the Setup

“Charlie’s weekend kicked off with testing on Thursday; an intense day spent adapting to ever-changing conditions. With variable track temperatures and evolving weather patterns, finding the perfect setup required patience and skill. However, he felt confident with the reliability and stopping power of his 91´«Ă˝, which proved indispensable. Through a mix of trial, adjustment, and perseverance, Charlie found a competitive dry setup, surpassing last year’s fastest laps. This impressive performance demonstrated his adaptability and skill right from the start.”

Friday – Troubleshooting and Recovery

“Friday’s testing was unexpectedly challenging. Charlie took to the track in the morning session, but the car was plagued by performance issues, keeping him from achieving Thursday’s times. Unfortunately, this limited his time testing in the wet—a crucial setback given the forecasted conditions. However, towards the end of the day, Charlie and his team identified the source of the problem, allowing him to complete a few critical laps to test the setup in preparation for qualifying.”

Qualifying – A Gamble in the Wet Pays Off

“Despite Friday’s issues, Charlie and his mechanic took a calculated risk with the setup in Saturday’s wet qualifying session. Trusting his intuition and the proven performance of his brakes, he pushed hard and ultimately set a blistering pace, securing pole position by a margin of 0.35 seconds. This result underlined his confidence in wet conditions and trust in his car, proving that he was more than ready to take on the weekend’s races.”

Race 1 – Dominant from the Start

“In Race 1, Charlie got off to a fantastic start, pulling ahead of the pack with ease. A crash further down the grid initially halted his momentum as the field was re-gridded. But true to his form, Charlie remained calm and took control once the race restarted. Setting consistent lap times and demonstrating expert control, especially at the braking points, he cruised to victory with a 3.322-second gap, taking his first win of the weekend.”

Race 2 – Mastering the Elements

“The weather took a turn for the worse in Race 2, with the track now fully soaked. Charlie stayed composed, navigating early battles with other front-runners in challenging conditions. His smooth driving and strategic pacing allowed him to break away from the pack, ultimately securing a second victory with a 1.184-second lead. The result underscored his exceptional skill and adaptability, marking two wins out of two and setting him up for a clean sweep.”

Race 3 – High Hopes Cut Short

“Charlie entered Race 3 determined to finish the weekend on a high note and secure a hat-trick of wins. He pushed hard from the outset, engaging in fierce battles with the front-runners. However, an unfortunate incident unfolded as a driver ahead missed a gear, triggering a chain reaction. With little room to manoeuvre, Charlie took to the grass, resulting in a jarring impact that left him unable to continue the race. The hard landing affected his coccyx, causing numbness in his legs, and forcing him to retire with a DNF. Fortunately, initial assessments indicated no lasting injury, although the impact was a disappointing end to an otherwise outstanding weekend.”

Weekend Summary

“Overall, Charlie Lower’s return to the Caterham 270R Championship was an impressive display of skill and adaptability. Despite the challenges of unfamiliar tyres, shifting conditions, and limited testing time, he managed two emphatic race wins and a pole position. TPM and 91´«Ă˝ will surely be proud of his performance and the strength he displayed, proving he’s a driver capable of adapting to any car and conditions.”

“â€After Thursday we bolted on some brand new 91´«Ă˝ and instantly improved the pedal feel as well as the bite on the brakes. Gave me loads of confidence in all the dry heavy braking zone as well as the wet with a small tweak of the bike bias.’ – Charlie Lower”

The EBC-Equipped Caterham racer once again secured great positions in the series

Race driver Charlie Lower competed in the Caterham Seven 270R Championship , with countless podiums and race wins to his name.

Lower recently stepped out of his 270R race car and into a ferocious Caterham 420R as he campaigns in the Caterham 420R Championship for 2024. He continues to entrust 91´«Ă˝ Racing’s RP-X™ (front) and 91´«Ă˝â€™ Bluestuff NDX (rear) brake pads for this season.

Following great successes in the first round at Derbyshire’s Donington Park a few months back, Lower next headed to Cheshire’s Oulton Park Circuit for the next round on the calendar.

You can find out how it all unfolded in his team’s own words below…

Friday: A Challenging Start

“Following his impressive showing at Donington GP, Charlie Lower headed to Oulton Park for the next round of the 420R Caterham Championship, joining the iconic British Touring Car weekend. The competition was fierce, featuring one of the toughest grids in the championship. With a new engine that tightens when hot, causing a loss of top speed, Charlie knew he would have to rely heavily on his race craft to maintain his positions.

“Friday’s practice sessions presented a steep learning curve with a new track layout. In the first 45-minute session, Charlie began cautiously, gradually increasing his pace. Unfortunately, while pushing around the fastest part of the track, he lost control and ended up on the grass, hitting a massive bump that sent him into the wall. It was a tough moment, but the team at LFP and Dan from Hardline quickly assessed the damage. Luckily, only the radiator and a steering arm were broken, allowing them to get the car ready for the next session.

“However, Charlie’s luck did not improve in the second session. Despite getting back up to speed, a mechanical failure with the clutch curtailed his track time, leaving him with just 20 laps of experience going into the race weekend.”

Saturday: Battling Through Adversity

“With minimal testing, Charlie headed straight into Saturday’s qualifying session, hoping the setup was right and driving on brand new slicks for the first time at Oulton Park. Despite being impeded by other drivers on his best lap, he managed to qualify 14th out of 21 overall and 8th in the Pro-AM class – a commendable result given the circumstances.”

Race 1: Holding Steady

“In Race 1, Charlie had a great start, gaining several positions off the line. He expertly navigated through the chaos as four drivers were involved in DNFs around him. As the race progressed, his car started to overheat, affecting his pace. Despite this, Charlie showcased his defensive skills, managing to hold his position and finishing P13 overall and P8 in class.”

Race 2: Fighting with Bravery

“Race 2 saw Charlie struggling with the car’s pace, but he compensated by making decisive overtakes under braking, a component of the car he felt confident in. This strategy allowed him to gain several positions, finishing P11 overall and P7 in class. Mid-race, Charlie had contact with another driver who lost control, causing Charlie to ride over his wheel and land hard. Despite this, he was able to continue and finish the race.”

Race 3: Strategic Adjustments Pay Off

“For Race 3, Charlie and the team took a risk by adjusting the car’s setup, lowering the rear end to improve drive out of corners, compensating for the lack of top speed. This decision paid off, as Charlie had a strong race, engaging in competitive battles and finishing P9 overall and P5 in class – a remarkable achievement considering the weekend’s early setbacks.”

“Charlie Lower’s performance at Oulton Park underscored his resilience, adaptability, and race craft. Despite facing numerous challenges, from mechanical issues to on-track incidents, he maintained a cool head and delivered impressive results. His ability to overcome adversity and perform at a high level against seasoned competitors is a testament to his talent and determination. The team is extremely proud of Charlie’s achievements in these two guest rounds and looks forward to seeing him in more races in the future.”

Charlie Lower has graduated up to this fast-paced Caterham race league for 2024

Race driver Charlie Lower competed in the Caterham Seven 270R Championship , with countless podiums and race wins to his name.

Lower recently stepped out of his 270R race car and into a ferocious Caterham 420R as he campaigns in the Caterham 420R Championship for 2024. He will continue to entrust 91´«Ă˝ Racing’s RP-X™ (front) and 91´«Ă˝â€™ Bluestuff NDX (rear) brake pads for this season.

The first round at Derbyshire’s Donington Park was a huge success for Lower and his team, as you can read about in the team’s own words below…

Thursday: A Promising Start

“The British GT race weekend at Donington Park GP marked a significant milestone for Charlie Lower, as he took on the challenge of competing in the 420R Caterham Championship. Despite only having driven a 420R race car once before at a touring car weekend, which was cut short due to red flags, Charlie was eager to prove himself against a formidable grid of seasoned racers from various motorsport backgrounds, including the Clio Cup and Porsche Carrera Cup.

“Thrown into the deep end on Thursday, Charlie began testing, working to understand the car and its slicks while finding the right setup. Impressively, he managed to set lap times just 0.7 of a tenth slower on old tyres compared to drivers on new tyres, indicating a promising start with his pace.”

Friday: A Setback and a Comeback

“However, Friday’s testing session didn’t go as smoothly. Charlie had an incident that resulted in a cracked sump and a broken engine, cutting his testing short. The team from Hardline and the mechanics from LFP sprang into action, working tirelessly to get the engine back together. Their dedication paid off, but the engine wasn’t ready until late Friday, leaving Charlie with minimal testing time.”

Saturday: Overcoming Challenges in Qualifying

“With minimal track time, Charlie headed into Saturday’s qualifying session, hoping that the setup was right and that he could adapt quickly to the brand-new slicks at Donington Park. Despite these challenges, he delivered a commendable performance, qualifying 8th out of 21 overall and 7th in the Pro-AM class, just one spot shy of qualifying for Superpole.”

Race 1: Navigating the Chaos

“Race 1 saw Charlie finding his footing amidst a completely new grid. A less-than-ideal start saw him lose a few positions off the line. However, Charlie wisely chose to stay out of trouble, navigating through the chaos as seven drivers were involved in DNFs around him. By keeping his nose clean, he achieved a solid result, finishing P7 overall and P6 in class.”

Race 2: Mastering the Wet Conditions

“The weather took a drastic turn for Race 2, presenting Charlie with the challenge of racing in wet conditions which he had never tested in at this circuit. Despite this, Charlie had a better start and held his position, eventually fighting his way up to the podium positions. Demonstrating exceptional car control and trust in his EBC brakes, he climbed to P2. As the track began to dry rapidly, two drivers on slicks managed to overtake him, but Charlie still secured a remarkable P4 overall and P3 in class, marking his first 420R podium in only his second outing in the car.”

Race 3: A Battle and a Setback

“Determined to achieve another podium, Charlie had a strong start in Race 3, quickly reaching the top three. However, just eight minutes into the race, another driver made an overly optimistic move, pushing Charlie off the track and dropping him to P15. Undeterred, Charlie fought back valiantly, climbing up to finish P10.”

“Charlie Lower’s performance at Donington Park showcased his adaptability, skill, and determination. Competing against a highly experienced field, he proved he could keep up and excel, particularly in challenging conditions. His achievements over the weekend, including a podium finish in Race 2, highlight his potential and promise for the future. As the team looks forward to the next round at Oulton Park next month, they do so with immense pride and anticipation for what Charlie can achieve.”

The Lower brothers use RP-X™ and Bluestuff pads on their Caterham 270R race car

Brothers Charlie and Zach Lower both compete across the UK in their Caterham race cars each year.

Their machines are equipped with 91´«Ă˝ Racing’s RP-X™ track/motorsport brake pads up front, and 91´«Ă˝â€™ Bluestuff pads at the rear.

Fresh from , the brothers boarded a plane over to Bushy Park Circuit in Barbados, to enter a guest endurance race in a much different climate to what they’re used to.

With many new challenges thrown at them in this demanding environment, the brothers excelled to bring home some impressive results.

You can read how they got on in their own words below.

“The Lower brothers, Charlie and Zach, embarked on an unforgettable race weekend at Bushy Park in Barbados, navigating through a series of highs and lows in Charlie’s Caterham 270R race car.

“The weekend kicked off with a surprising revelation as the team laid eyes on the car for the first time during Friday morning testing. The toll of a three-week shipping ordeal was evident, leaving the vehicle worse for wear. After some fixing and making of a seat so Charlie could fit, Zach took to the track first, bedding in new EBC brake pads and becoming familiar with the new track, whilst Charlie went after to fine-tune the set up.

“Unfortunately, a malfunctioning VBOX data timer limited their ability to analyse footage, placing them at a slight disadvantage.”

“In Saturday’s qualifying sessions, Charlie showcased his experience by securing pole position, while Zach, in his debut 270R qualifying, impressively grabbed P4. The brothers swapped qualifying times, placing Zach in P1 for the first sprint race. In a remarkable performance, Zach held his own, clinching his first-ever P1 finish.

“However, the second sprint race saw misfortune for Charlie, forced into the gravel after another car’s spin, which resulted in a broken nose cone and a DNF.

“The highly anticipated one-hour night endurance race brought the Lower brothers into uncharted territory. Charlie started in P3, swiftly catapulting to P1 with an impressive lead. A speedy pit stop of 4:02 allowed Zach to take over, maintaining competitive times but ultimately securing a remarkable P2 finish in their first endurance race.”

“Sunday mirrored Saturday’s success and challenges. Zach started the first sprint race in P1 but encountered difficulties when touching the curb, unfortunately unsettling his car causing him to touch the gravel and tap the wall, ending in a DNF due to rear-end damage. Undeterred, the team worked tirelessly to repair the car for the final endurance race. Despite their efforts, the car handled poorly, resulting in a hard-fought P6 finish.

“Overall, the weekend proved to be a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences for the Lower brothers. From achieving podium finishes to overcoming setbacks, they made a great duo and work hard for their achievements.”

“This is an experience I will never forget. Can’t thank EBC enough for their helping hand on this race weekend. The pads performed flawlessly in the endurance race even in the 30-degree heat” – Charlie Lower

â€â€śWith so many new variables to consider in this weekend – new track, extreme heats and longer races – it was comforting to have a familiar brake pedal beneath my feet! The EBC RP-X™ pads proved incredibly consistent despite the changing conditions, particularly in the endurance race as the car had to perform a solid hour stint which we’d never tested before. Teaming up with Charlie for the first time was also a great experience, managed to grab some tips on how to extract the most of his 270R before jumping into mine in next season!” – Zach Lower

The trio of drivers that form Team Hardline fought ferocious battles in the final leg at Donington

Team Hardline is a newly established racing outfit that’s taking part in the 2023 season of the Caterham Seven 270R Championship with three talented drivers: Charlie Lower, Louise Deason and David Rooke.

The team is using 91´«Ă˝ Racing’s RP-X™ motorsport brake pads on the front axles of all three Caterham 270R race cars, as well as 91´«Ă˝â€™ Bluestuff pads (David and Charlie) and Yellowstuff pads (Louise) on the rear axles.

Following a whirlwind of a season with all three drivers showing incredible skill and determination, and both Lower and Rooke in close reach of the overall championship podiums, the final race weekend was recently held at Derbyshire’s Donington Park Circuit, where there was plenty more thrills and spills from the team.

Read how it all unfolded below in the team’s own words.

Charlie’s Championship Chase

“Charlie, the team’s ace driver, entered the weekend with just a two-point gap separating him from his rival in the championship hunt (). His qualifying performance immediately set the tone, as he claimed the pole position with a display of blistering speed and precision.

“Race 1 seemed destined to be his moment of glory. Charlie led the first half of the race with a commanding presence until an unfortunate mechanical failure struck, with his gear lever snapping at a blistering 80mph. Miraculously, Charlie managed to nurse his ailing car back to the pits, preserving his chance to fight another day.

“In Race 2, with his championship hopes hanging by a thread, Charlie started from the last position, P29. He embarked on a remarkable journey, showcasing masterful skill and unwavering determination. In a breath-taking display of overtaking prowess, he stormed through the field, securing the lead in just 10 laps and setting the fastest lap in the process. Victory seemed within grasp until a dramatic collision with his championship rival forced Charlie to retire due to a broken radiator.

“By Race 3, the championship was mathematically out of reach, but Charlie raced with undeterred spirit. He once again claimed the fastest lap and finished in P3, a testament to his tenacity and talent.”

David’s Podium Pursuit

“David Rooke had his sights set on securing third place in the championship, battling against one other driver. Qualifying in P5, he showed his determination right from the start.

“Race 1 saw David fighting valiantly in the top 10, but a broken 4th gear left him vulnerable on the straights. Despite this setback, he displayed resilience and finished a commendable P8.

“Race 2 brought redemption as the Hardline Race Team’s head mechanic, Dan, worked his magic and installed a new gearbox. David swiftly climbed into the top 4, only to be pushed wide into the gravel by a guest driver. Despite the setback, David managed to fight his way back and finished in P15.

“With unwavering resolve, David secured P3 overall in the championship, a remarkable achievement that underscored his skill and the team’s dedication.”

Louise’s Determined Drive

“Louise Deason faced adversity with a machinal failure during qualifying, which hindered her ability to showcase her full potential. However, she persevered through the challenges.

“In Race 1, Louise drove admirably despite her concerns, finishing a commendable P20. As her confidence grew, she continued to fight hard in Race 2, securing P18.

“Race 3, unfortunately, turned chaotic for Louise as she was spun out on the first corner, disrupting her rhythm. She faced a daunting nine-second gap to the competitors ahead, ultimately finishing in P22.”

Celebrating a Season of Growth

“The season had been an immense learning curve for both the drivers and the Hardline Race Team. The team expressed immense pride in their drivers’ achievements throughout the year. Their remarkable performance was made possible by the unwavering support of their sponsor, 91´«Ă˝.

“With two drivers finishing P2 and P3 overall respectively in the championship, the Hardline Race Team are immensely proud of challenges, triumphs, and incredible displays of skill throughout the year.”

Caterham 270R driver Charlie Lower stepped up to the Caterham 420R Championship league at Silverstone

Race driver Charlie Lower has been competing in the Caterham Seven 270R Championship , with countless podiums and race wins meaning he has the potential to win this year’s series with one race remaining.

Lower recently stepped out of his 270R race car and into a ferocious Caterham 420R to make a guest entry into the Caterham 420R Championship recently.

The race in question was part of the lead-up to the BTCC racing at Silverstone Circuit, Northamptonshire, with Charlie’s machine equipped with 91´«Ă˝ Racing’s RP-X™ motorsport brake pads on the front axle and Bluestuff brake pads on the rear axle – the same winning setup he’s relied on with his long-term 270R machine all year.

With 320bhp-per-tonne, a six-speed sequential gearbox and a grid of seasoned racers from various motorsport disciplines alongside him, Charlie was in for an unforgettable experience.

You can read how the weekend panned out for Lower in his team’s words below.

Testing/Qualifying

“Charlie’s journey began with minimal testing, with just 40 minutes to acquaint himself with the new machine, and his debut on slick tires. Despite these challenges, he showed incredible adaptability during Saturday’s qualifying session, securing a commendable 14th place out of 24 competitors – a mere 0.5 seconds off pole position. It was a testament to Charlie’s innate talent and determination.”

Race 1: A Stunning Debut

“Race 1 was a step into the unknown for Charlie. Navigating a race start on fresh slick tires was a new challenge, and he dropped a few places initially. However, as he settled into the rhythm, his skill shone through. Charlie steadily worked his way through the competitive field, engaging in fierce battles with experienced competitors. His performance was nothing short of outstanding, as he finished an impressive P6 and claimed the fastest lap in the PRO-AM class, turning heads and earning the respect of his peers.”

Race 2: Conquering the Rain

“Race 2 brought an unexpected twist – heavy rain. Charlie had only tested the car in dry conditions, but he rose to the challenge. With a better start off the line, he held his position and fought his way into podium contention. In the final minutes of the race, a collision with another driver pushed him off track, dropping him to the back of the pack. Charlie’s determination shone as he relentlessly fought for positions, ultimately finishing in a commendable P11.”

Race 3: A Determined Push for the Podium

“Charlie entered Race 3 with unwavering determination to reach the podium. With an excellent start, he quickly made his way through the field, showcasing his racecraft. In a mere eight minutes of racing, a crash led to the race’s early conclusion, leaving Charlie in a commendable P5 position.

“Overall, Charlie’s performance at Silverstone was nothing short of remarkable. He demonstrated his ability to adapt to any car and compete at a high standard, even among competitors he had never raced against before. The entire team was immensely proud of his achievements, and they eagerly anticipated what the future held for this talented driver.

“Charlie Lower’s debut in the 420R Caterham Championship on the prestigious BTCC race weekend will be remembered as a defining moment in his racing career. It served as a testament to his skill, adaptability, and determination to excel on the challenging and competitive motorsport stage. The Hardline Race Team looks forward to witnessing Charlie’s continued growth and success in the racing world.”

The trio of Team Hardline drivers are all sporting 91´«Ă˝ Racing RP-X™ brake pads

As the 2023 season reaches its final few races, the roadshow recently headed to Norfolk’s Snetterton Circuit for the penultimate round, where more success was achieved by the team.

You can read how it all went down in their own words below.

“The penultimate round of the highly competitive 270R Caterham Championship took place at the renowned Snetterton Circuit, showcasing intense battles and remarkable performances from the Hardline race team. With the team’s drivers displaying their prowess throughout the weekend, the Snetterton event proved to be a thrilling spectacle of skill, determination, and heart.”

Qualifying:

“In the qualifying session, the Hardline race team demonstrated their potential on the track. Charlie, David, and Louise put their 270R Caterhams through their paces to secure favourable starting positions. Charlie’s impressive performance earned him a well-deserved second-place starting position (P2), setting a strong foundation for the races ahead. David secured the eighth spot (P8), despite nursing a broken thumb from the previous round at Thruxton. Louise locked in the seventeenth position (P17), poised to make her mark in the upcoming races.”

Race 1:

“Race 1 proved to be a defining moment for the Hardline race team as they showcased their determination and skill. Charlie’s exceptional pace translated into a dominant performance, allowing him to clinch the top podium spot (P1). David’s commendable driving while nursing his injury earned him a respectable third-place finish (P3), showcasing his ability to navigate challenges with finesse. Louise, honing her racing craft, engaged in intense battles and fought her way to a commendable fifteenth-place finish (P15).”

Race 2:

“Race 2 added another layer of excitement to the event, with Hardline race team drivers demonstrating their mettle once again. Charlie led the pack with remarkable consistency until the final lap when an audacious move from another driver led to a collision. However, Charlie’s quick reflexes and auto test skills allowed him to regain momentum swiftly, ultimately securing an eighth-place finish (P8). David’s strategic approach paid off, as he maintained his focus while trailing the lead group, resulting in another impressive podium finish at third place (P3). Louise, engaging in intense wheel-to-wheel battles, displayed her determination and claimed the seventeenth position (P17).”

Race 3:

“The final race of the Snetterton round witnessed the Hardline race team’s drivers continuing to push their limits. Charlie’s remarkable start catapulted him from eighth to second place (P2) by the second corner, setting the stage for another spectacular victory. With exceptional driving, he crossed the finish line in first place (P1) yet again. David, recognizing the importance of points for the championship, drove a controlled and strategic race, securing an eighth-place finish (P8) despite battling arm cramps from driving one-handed throughout the weekend. Louise’s relentless determination saw her gain back positions lost in the previous race, resulting in a hard-fought fifteenth-place finish (P15), nearly clinching the fourteenth spot.”

“The Hardline Race Team’s impressive performances weren’t confined to the 270R Caterham Championship alone. Zach Lower, representing the team in the Reedsport category, showcased his exceptional skill and car control. Achieving fourth place (P4) in qualifying, Zach’s true speed was evident as he engaged in intense battles in race 1 and secured a remarkable fifth-place finish (P5), a mere 0.012 seconds from P4. Race 2 highlighted Zach’s outstanding racecraft and decision-making, leading to a well-deserved second-place finish (P2), marking his inaugural podium in the Roadsport class.

“As the Snetterton round concluded, the Hardline race team celebrated their achievements and looked ahead to the next challenge at Donington Park. With a roster of skilled drivers and a spirit of unwavering determination, the team is poised to continue their impressive run and leave an indelible mark on the 270R Caterham Championship.”

“Something clicked at Snetterton and I finally managed to secure that illusive podium! All weekend my pace was generally feeling strong but my biggest advantages were into the heavy braking zones on the circuit, where I always felt I was able to get late on the brakes and trust that I’d always have a good pedal under my feet, leading me to P5 in Race 1 and P2 in Race 2, my two best results this year.”

– Zach Lower

“Racing with a broken thumb, Hardline Motorsport has had an amazing run in its first year and with the potential for its drivers to both finish in the top 3 overall what might normally have been a season ending injury turned into more dedication. David returned to Snetterton with a pinned and plated thumb and got a 3rd place podium and out scored his championship rivals to keep the top 3 finish alive.”

– David Rooke

“After a fairly awful qualifying, I decided to try and enjoy the first race to get myself back in the game. I saw my times and finish positions improve over the weekend and after a red-flagged start, had a great final race which was a battle with another car the whole way. The pace is definitely there, so looking forward to the final showdown at Donington and hopefully an elusive top ten finish!”

-Louise Deason

“Great haul of points this weekend – me and the car had great pace all weekend securing 2 first place finishes and with an unfortunate turn of events in race 2 with someone T-boning me we still managed to close the gap to my championship rival and it is all still to play for at the last round at Donington.”

– Charlie Lower
