Craig Cotton鈥檚 modified Evo 6 now features a raft of 91传媒 Racing components

Craig Cotton is currently competing within the Club 4WD class of the fiercely fought Time Attack UK series in his heavily modified Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6.

Cotton has this year upgraded to an 91传媒 Racing 4-Piston Apollo Big Brake Kit, complete with SR-11鈩 sintered endurance race pads, to help his car stop as fast as it goes.

The latest round took the series to Kent鈥檚 Brands Hatch. You can read how Cotton fared over the weekend, as well as hear his overall thoughts on the brake upgrade, in his own words below.

鈥淏it of a wet one at Brands Hatch last Sunday, but I did get a half-decent session in the afternoon with a drying line on the track.

鈥淚 managed to get a 2nd聽in qualifying due to the heavens opening up and putting my class on a relatively level playing field.聽

鈥淯nfortunately for me, in the final session the weather cleared and a dry line appeared on the track and that snatched a podium finish for me 鈥 1.6 seconds away from an Evo with 800bhp that had turned up!

鈥淭he Apollo-series 4-piston caliper has been a significant upgrade over the standard Evo Brembo caliper. This also has the benefit of being lighter than the OEM equivalent, saving 0.4kg per corner of unsprung weight.

鈥淧rogressing from the RP-X鈩 to SR-11鈩 and on to the SR-21鈩 race pad compound, this setup is very effective at stopping a relatively heavy (1400kg) car quickly. Coupled with the 91传媒 Racing BF307+ brake fluid, I can confidently say there has been absolutely zero brake fade and really does inspire confidence coming up to Paddock Hill Bend at around 125mph, or at Snetterton approaching Brundle at 135+mph.

鈥淭he energy the brakes are coping with is incredible; so much so that the wheels have changed colour due to the heat, but the brakes have stopped the car every time without a fuss.

鈥淪ince fitting the RP-X鈩 & SR-11鈩 pads, almost every event I have been beating my personal best times, this Is due to the confidence I have in the brakes.鈥

鈥淎s the cars lined up on the grid to take to the super-fast Cadwell circuit, again the fog came down before they could be released onto the green flag lap. MSVR organisers did everything they could to get the day flowing but unfortunately, it was just in the hands of the gods, with no other decision but to abandon the meeting.

鈥淛ustin said 鈥榓fter watching back a couple of qualifying laps, I can鈥檛 actually believe we were driving in those conditions; visibility was desperate and dangerous but you鈥檙e just trying to put a very fast time in no matter what. Nicole and I were extremely gutted the race didn鈥檛 go ahead as we were very hopeful of a strong result, but the MSV made the correct decision.鈥

鈥淭he duo next head off to Spain for the penultimate round, taking with them a strong 20-point championship lead. Circuito de Navarra will see several English championships head out there for the October meeting.鈥

The owner of this iconic Japanese sports car used Bluestuff NDX pads and two-piece floating discs

The owner of this Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-300 SST purchased the much-loved car a few months ago now, with the car coming equipped with some unknown plain discs and pads that were asking to be upgraded to match his fast-road driving style.

He soon found himself looking at 91传媒 products, soon snapping up some Bluestuff NDX brake pads and a set of 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 two-piece fully-floating discs.

Running this brake setup for a few months, it seems that it was the perfect solution to help him enjoy driving his new rally-bred machine.

Read his thoughts on his own words below鈥

鈥淗aving installed late last year, I carried out some light bed-in/surface mating and no noise was present, and the initial bite straight out of the box seemed very good and a vast improvement over the OE pads that had been fitted previously.

鈥淚 carried out 250 miles of mainly B-road driving around the countryside with some dual carriageway and motorway usage also (wet and approx. 4掳C). From my initial thoughts, it seemed as though very minimal bed-in was required.

鈥淭he cold bite and initial friction level was a vast improvement over my previous experiences with other brands, and on a car like the Evo, this Bluestuff NDX actually seemed to be better suited due to the higher temperature working range, friction level, and initial bite.”

鈥淭hese pads also sustain a nice amount of modulation and fade resistance with a very progressive friction level during both low and high pressure stops. I was unable to get the pads to fade on the street and I feel that these will continue to work well as a fast street pad.

鈥淔eel: as stated above, the modulation and consistent friction of the pad is confidence inspiring and they provide a very positive pedal feel.

鈥淣oise: as of yet, I have not had any issues with noise or squealing, not from high speed nor low speed crawling.鈥

Update

鈥淏luestuff NDX in the Evo were a great upgrade and I put approximately 2-3000 miles on them, they still felt nice and progressive with a good level of initial bite and no fade. Very little noise was present from the pads on both high and slow speed stops. I had a chance to pull the pads out to inspect and check for wear and the wear on the pads was minimal and they still look like new!

鈥淚 fitted these as a premium fast-road/track pad, and I wasn鈥檛 disappointed! The performance was great on the road and when being pushed hard, furthermore there is enough cold bite there for them to be useable on the street without the need to warm them up. All in all, I am a big fan of them, and I would personally say a huge improvement over my previous setup.

鈥淚 enjoyed my experience with the two-piece floating discs/rotors and Bluestuff NDX so much so, that I have since upgraded to a 91传媒 Racing 6-Piston Apollo Big Brake Kit with Bluestuff NDX pads fitted.鈥

24-7 Motorsport recently competed in the Silverstone round of the series in their Mercedes GT4 race car

Norfolk based multi-discipline race outfit, 24-7 Motorsport, is currently competing in the 2023 season of the GT Cup race series, with drivers David Frankland and Ed Bridle piloting a Mercedes AMG GT4 race car in the GTH class of the championship (homologated cars running to Group GT4 specifications).

Throughout the season, the team has been entrusting 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 SR-21鈩 sintered motorsport endurance race brake pad 鈥 a compound it has also used in both its and in recent years to great success.

At the recent Silverstone round of the series back in July, 24-7 Motorsport secured some of their best results of the year so far, finishing 2nd in class and 5th overall in Race 3 of the weekend 鈥 scoring higher than many of the more potent GT3-spec machines on the grid.

The team credits the SR-21鈩 brake pads found on both front and rear axles as a contributing factor in these results, with both drivers consistently managing to out-brake other vehicles on track throughout the race.

The car will use the new sintered compound throughout its 2022 GT Cup campaign

91传媒 Racing is pleased to announce that it will be continuing its support of throughout the 2022 race season.

The 2021 GT Cup GTB runners-up have moved from their ever-popular 991.1 Porsche 911 cup car, and are now making the move to the GTH class in their newly-acquired Audi R8 GT4 LMS Evolution, to contest a full championship title in the championship with 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 new SR-21鈩 sintered race brake pad compound.

24-7 Motorsport has worked alongside leading motorsport teams both in the UK and abroad, focusing on vehicles ranging from Lotus production race cars to Le Mans-entered GT2 cars, as well as Radicals, Porsche cup cars, touring cars and everything in-between.

Joining long-standing David Frankland behind the wheel this year will be new teammate, Adriano Medeiros.

The Drivers

David Frankland, Race Driver

David started on motorcycles, then a Porsche 924, and for 13 years raced Radicals. He has been a keen Porsche enthusiast since he was a child. Around three years ago, a number of circumstances came together which allowed him to buy his 911 GT3 cup car which he has been competing in over the past three years. David is now keen to see what he can do in his new Audi R8 GT4 LMS Evolution.

Adriano Medeiros, FIA Bronze Driver/Driver Coach/Track Day Instructor

Having worked as a Grade A ARDS instructor since 2004, Adriano has spent the past 12 years coaching racing drivers from novice to championship winners, and is one of the most successful motorsport coaches based in Great Britain. Adriano is excited to start working with the team and looking forward to the 2022 season.

After extensive testing on the car, the 24-7 Motorsport team are looking forward to running the new SR-21鈩 compound in their 2022 championship campaign, as team Director, Phil Hurn, explained after initial testing at Donington Park recently.

鈥淭he ability to be able to run one compound for both sprint and endurance is a fantastic trait and throughout testing, we have found that there is virtually no bed-in and that the pads are ready to go and up to temperature in under a lap. The initial bite is fantastic and very stable and predictable, and this performance does not drop off even after a race-length session. The wear rate is fantastic and after two days of testing, there is virtually no wear.

鈥淲e saw increased pedal feel and modulation with better initial bite and bite that didn’t fade, as well as less pad and disc wear with the new SR-21鈩 compound.

“We are very happy with these results, and they just go to show how well these pads perform under pressure.”

鈥淲e have conducted testing on a lot of our vehicles now and will continue to test throughout the off-season and are certainly looking forward to the 2022 season. I look forward to 91传媒 Racing continuing to be our one-stop-shop and our sole brake disc and pad supplier throughout the 2022 season and beyond.鈥
