Hayden Renton uses Bluestuff pads and GD discs on his E36 BMW Compact

Hayden Renton has been competing in the Drift League GB championship throughout 2024, in his EBC-Equipped BMW E36 Compact.

The car proudly sports Bluestuff NDX pads (front), Bluestuff B pads (rear) and GD Sport discs (all-round).

Below, Renton gives us a summary of his season, following his finish on the top of the podium at the final round at Teesside Autodrome recently…

“What a weekend and what a way to show off to the home crowd! Qualifying 3rd on Saturday with a 90.7, then winning the event on Sunday, this is definitely an event that will last long in the memory.

“But not without any issues that is…

“Our Top 32 saw us take a by-run due to qualifying high enough to achieve one, then the Top 16 saw us face off against Callum Allonby. Perfect driving as always from Callum putting a near perfect run in and inviting me to get nice up close and personal too his door! 

“Our Top 8 battle saw us face off against Nerijus Cickevicius in his monster of an E46! Once again putting down a lovely line for me to be able to put it to his door.”

“Then, Top 4 is when disaster struck, with the car shutting off in the holding area just before our battle against Ian Leggett. The car was just unresponsive to the start switch and power, but with a bit of perseverance and love, I managed to calm down and think through the issue. I tried bump starting, which didn’t work. Tried the ignition again, didn’t work. At this moment it seemed I had been stopped in my tracks by car issues but after a quick minute to let the car have its moment it fired back up and ran like nothing ever happened.

“We gave it our all in our battle against Ian, knowing he’s a fast driver sticking it to his door and even giving him a love tap. Once again, that saw me through to the final where I faced Kuba Kozlowski.”

“Wow. What a battle it was; Kuba giving me nudges on the first run made me know I had no other choice other than to risk it all. 

“But risking it all is what I did and it paid off! 

“Let me tell you: the 91´«Ã½ did some serious work with the amount of left-foot braking going on. 

“Huge thankyou to all of my sponsors, friends and family for helping and allowing me to do these events!â€

Adrián Cabanillas and Rebeca Aramburu are competing in DriftSpain for the 2024 season

91´«Ã½ is proud to support a large number of professional drifters across the globe in various series – many of which are performing at the very top of the grids they find themselves in.

For 2024, the company is supporting 16-year-old Adrián Cabanillas and Rebeca Aramburu as they compete in the fiercely fought DriftSpain series.

The duo, part of the Team Find4u, will pilot their E36 BMW at various circuits across Spain throughout the year. Their cars both boast EBC’s Bluestuff pads and GD discs on both front and rear axles.

Following an exciting first round at Jarama Circuit for Cabanillas, the team next headed to Circuito Miranda de Ebro for the second round of the series.

“Last weekend saw Round 2 of the Spanish Drift Championship, DriftSpain, held at the Miranda de Ebro circuit.

“With an estimated attendance of 35,000 people over the weekend, we had the opportunity to share the latest advances and innovations of our brand with fans, while our sponsored drivers, Adrian Cabanillas and Rebeca Aramburu, showcased their skills behind the wheel in a thrilling competition.”

“An outstanding performance by our driver Adrian Cabanillas, driving one of the lowest-spec vehicles on the grid, ensured he reached the qualifying rounds, standing out as one of the favourites for the Spanish championship. His skill and control in every pass not only impressed the audience but also reaffirmed his potential to lead the competition.

“Rebeca Aramburu, debuting a new car, displayed her unique style and impeccable passes that captivated the spectators. However, she had to face several electronic issues with the vehicle, affecting her performance in the qualifying rounds. Despite her team’s hard work to resolve these problems, it was not enough to advance to the final battles.

“Her determination and competitive spirit were applauded by all present.

“We hope to continue the excitement at the next DriftSpain round, which will be held on 27-28 September at the Navarra Circuit. See you at the track!â€

Pro drifter, Zack Parker, is currently competing in the 2024 Drift Pro championship. For this season, Parker has opted to upgrade the braking system on his 550bhp E36 BMW 3-Series, which now boasts 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-Xâ„¢ brake pads, GD discs and braided brake lines all-round.

Adrián Cabanillas is competing in DriftSpain for the 2024 season

“In mid-April, Jarama Circuit was not only the scene of exciting competitions, but also the impressive debut of Adrián Cabanillas in the Spanish drifting championship, DriftSpain. Adrián, at only 16 years old, demonstrated his skill and mastery driving his BMW E36 with a 220bhp V8 engine, and stood out on a track considered complex for lower-powered vehicles, with more than 25,000 attendees making the stands shake.

“On Saturday, Adrián secured a position among the 16 qualifiers out of a total of 40 drivers, achieving an impressive ninth place in the past qualifiers. Throughout the weekend, Adrián and his car were also a central part of our official event sponsor stand. This presence provided an excellent opportunity to bring the world of competition closer to attendees of all ages and highlight the latest innovations from the brands.”

“On Sunday, the atmosphere was even more electrified with the start of the Spanish Truck Championship, whose engines of more than 1000bhp complemented the excitement of the battles in the Semi Pro and Pro category. Adrián Cabanillas shone throughout the day, showing great skill in each battle, both in chase and lead positions. His excellent performance took him to the final, where he was crowned champion of the Semi Pro category, becoming the youngest driver to win a DriftSpain event.

The race team used the firm’s Apollo Big Brake Kit and SR-Series sintered pads in their BMW M3

To say Lally Chevrolet’s in-house racing team, Venomous Racing, builds extreme race cars wouldn’t be doing them justice. Not only are their vehicles fast, but attention to every detail is also taken to ensure podium-clinching performance along with reliability. No opportunity to improve driver confidence, comfort, and lap times is overlooked; this objective is made even harder when it needs to last hours upon hours in an endurance race.

91´«Ã½ Racing has been working with US-based Venomous Racing for a couple of years now, helping them reach that goal by building systems that meet this demanding environment. EBC-equipped driver missed first 2021 round thanks to pre-season shakedown incident

Spencer Peacock, a well-known name in the Formula G gymkhana championship, secured some impressive results at the second 2021 round of the series.

Some damage to his EBC-equipped Mazda MX-5 obtained in a pre-season shakedown meant that he sadly had to miss round one, but was back with a bang as the series carried out its second leg at Santa Pod Raceway in mid-May.

Spencer uses Yellowstuff pads and GD discs on his modified Mazda, and his thoughts on how the weekend panned out can be viewed below in his team’s words.

Round two of the Formula G championship saw the return of Spencer Peacock’s gymkhana-spec Mazda MX-5.

Spencer recently had a pre-season shakedown incident which meant his car wasn’t able to be driven at the first round. With the return of the rebuilt car, Spencer had some new alignment setups under his sleeve ready to be tested for the first time at the Gymkhana event.

Spencer spent the morning testing his new setup, gaining more and more traction after every run and suspension tweak. After eight practice runs, Spencer had the car fully set up to his preferred preference and was then able to really start getting the track under his belt.

After a few hard practice runs of getting the track right, Spencer was 100% happy with how his car was working and decided to sit some practice out to save his tyres for qualifying and battles.

The event includes yard games with the ‘Circle of Death’ being the highlighted race towards the end of the day across the Sonoran Desert-type terrain. The two classes are Swingarm and the Rigid (no suspension). Zen Pro Racing opted to race the rigid class with our newly built, EBC-equipped custom bobber.

Zen Pro Racing and its team support members disembarked from their headquarters with a four-hour journey across the desert. Upon arrival and settling in, they prepped accordingly for the next day’s race event.

RACE DAY – The Swingarm class went first, followed by the Rigid class. Number 15 was assigned by request in commemoration of a fallen team member who lost his life racing the Baja 500 in June of 2013.

START LINE – With the green flag dropping, Zen Pro Racing lead the pack with a huge lead between the second rider, for approximately a half lap until the fuel valve was hit by their racer’s leg ripping the fuel line clean off the carburettor thus, calling marking the end as other riders by-passed the now inoperable race bike. But that’s racing for you!
