Fabio Ferrinho tested the 91��ý Racing pads on his modified SEAT

Portugal-based Fabio Ferrinho has recently been competing in the Mogadouro Drag Race series in his modified 270+bhp SEAT Ibiza Bocanegra.

For this, he entrusted 91��ý’ Bluestuff pads, to great effect.

More recently, he’s decided to take his versatile and capable steed on some track days, which has put even more strain on his car’s braking system. Because of this, he decided to upgrade to 91��ý Racing’s RP-X track/race brake pads ahead of a demanding track day on the vast Portimão Circuit – an upgrade which provided great results.

Read how it panned out in his own words below.

“Last weekend, we were at the track in Portimão. The RP-X brake pads are amazing; the brakes are so nice with my 8-piston calipers.”

“I’ve already installed the high-pressure fuel injectors, but am yet to perform a remap, but I still made a good lap time of 2:40 on a rainy day – the track was so wet.”

EBC-Equipped Drag Racer Takes Podium Finish in Mogadouro Drag Race 2025

Fabio Ferrinho uses Bluestuff pads on his modified SEAT Ibiza Bocanegra

Portugal-based Fabio Ferrinho currently competes in the Mogadouro Drag Race series in his home country.

His steed of choice is a SEAT Ibiza Bocanegra – sporting 180bhp from the factory, but with substantial modifications seeing that figure rise to 270bhp on his vehicle.

Another crucial modification is the EBC Bluestuff brake pads that he’s applied – helping him to scrub off speed fast once he’s hit the finish line.

Part of the 402 Clube Portugal, Ferrinho competes in the E-Street Petrol Turbo/Compressor 1500cc class in his 1.4-litre TSI hot hatch.

With the recent big annual race event taking place, he was pleased to achieve third-in-class.

“We achieved 3^rd place in my category. I’m really pleased but am already planning to upgrade, aiming to add water/methanol, a high fuel pump and bigger injectors, so next it will better much faster to compete in the drag race league. I’m hoping to win more trophies then.”

EBC-Equipped Drag Bike Racer Steve Johnson Wins NHRA Event

Johnson achieved a class win in the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals on his Hayabusa drag bike

Birmingham, AL-based Steve Johnson recently stormed to victory with his drag-prepped Suzuki Hayabusa in the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals event based at Bristol Motor Speedway, Tennessee.

Johnson uses EBC’s SRK clutch kit which includes a set of aramid-lined friction plates and heavy-duty clutch springs for the ultimate launch every time.

You can hear how the event panned out in his team’s own words below.

“The Steve Johnson Racing team debuted a new look at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, with the latest Gen-3 Suzuki Hayabusa body and new wrap.

“We qualified in the #6 position with a 6.875 @195mph. The bike made consistent runs in the first three rounds of eliminations at 6.880, 6.899, and 6.894. In Round 2, Steve posted a holeshot win with a 0.028 reaction time.

“In the final round, Steve was able to coast to victory after seeing the undefeated Gaige Herrera go red on the starting line. Steve also crossed a landmark 750 rounds of NHRA competition in the first round of the day.

“Looking Ahead…

– We currently sit at #3 in NHRA Camping World Championship Series points.

– The next race will be the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, OH on June 22-25, 2023. Steve will also compete in the Mission 2Fast 2Tasty Challenge.”

EBC-Equipped 700bhp Drag Bike Back in Action at Santa Pod

Mark Hope was back on his modified Hayabusa for the Main Event show recently

Mark Hope of Hope Racing pilots a heavily modified Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle in the Super Street Bike class of various drag racing events held at Santa Pod Raceway, Northamptonshire.

With the bike able to launch itself to speeds of over 200mph within the quarter-mile strip, brakes are clearly a huge priority for this setup, with Hope entrusting 91��ý’ VR discs and Double-H pads to help him slow down almost as fast as he accelerates.

The outfit returned to Santa Pod recently for the highly anticipated Main Event, with Mark explaining how the weekend went down in his own words below.

“It was great to be back at the track for the Main Event at Santa Pod. The show quickly reminded me how drag racing is a rollercoaster – what a weekend it was!

“We ran a nice 7.07-second pass at 205mph in Q3 to show promise. Unfortunately, we suffered what appears to be a blown head gasket, which finally let go in E1.

“We managed to swap the engine and make E2, but against Alan Morrison Jr, I pushed the tree a little and went red. He was flying all weekend so I had to try my luck!

“It was great to see the racing family again and have my family around me for support!

“Thanks to Chris Hope , and Bob Smith for always mucking in, Carrie Hope for always supporting my passion and everyone else involved. We’ll get this thing figured out sooner or later!”

Hope Racing proudly uses the firm’s VR discs and Double-H pads in the Super Street Bike class

91��ý has recently signed Mark Hope of Hope Racing to be an EBC ambassador on his Super Street Bike Hayabusa drag bike, which is currently running nearly 700bhp and passing the quarter-mile gantry under eight seconds at over 200mph.

The Super Street Bike class consists of highly modified vehicles, which feature a purpose-built tube chassis and a lightweight, aerodynamically enhanced replica of original bodywork. The class features a wide variety of makes, models, and engines, including V-Twin entries and inline four-cylinder-equipped models with turbochargers and superchargers adding to the overall power.

During the Summer Nationals event recently, the 91��ý UK team visited Santa Pod Raceway to meet Mark, taking with them a support pack including new VR rotors and EBC Double H pads.

Mark has been using 91��ý on the Super Street Bike Hayabusa for several years now and has always trusted them to stop him from over a quarter of the speed of sound!

It’s worth considering that, at the start line, the brakes are stone cold. The bike is then accelerated to over 200mph in under eight seconds before the brakes are squeezed hard to stop Mark at the top end of the track, meaning they need to be incredibly reliable and fast-acting to be up to the job.

Zen Pro Racing Achieve Class Win in Mexico’s La Mision Sand Drags Event

EBC-equipped racers battle it out on custom Yamaha R1 in sand-based drag racing competition

In Mexico, one of the final significant motorsport dates on the calendar is always the second instalment of the popular bi-annual Sand Drags event, held at the Pista La Mision race track in Baja California.

A drag racing competition held on sand, the challenging event attracts competitors from around the globe. The latest instalment, held on 18 December, saw no less than 300 national and international entrants taking part in cars, bikes and ATVs.

EBC-equipped Zen Pro Racing were in attendance once again, this time on a modified Yamaha R1 drag bike equipped with 91��ý’ floating discs and GPFAX sintered pads – helping to supply impressive stopping performance on the 300-foot short track.

The chilly weather conditions helped all machines present run at their best, meaning the competition was tighter than ever.

Zen Pro Racing had a fantastic weekend, walking away with gold in the Moto class with a time of 5:41 ET, as well as silver in the Open class with 5.43 ET (narrowly missing out to a nitrous-equipped Chevrolet truck).

Steve Johnson Wins Pro Stock Motorcycle Drag Race in NHRA Nationals

Johnson proudly uses an 91��ý SRK clutch kit on his modified drag bike

Birmingham, AL-based Steve Johnson took home gold in the Pro Stock Motorcycle category of the 2021 National Hot Rod Association [NHRA] Nationals, held at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, PA on 13 September.

Johnson uses EBC’s SRK clutch kit which includes a set of aramid-lined friction plates and heavy-duty clutch springs for the ultimate launch every time.

The weekend was the start of the six-race ‘Countdown to the Championship’ – NHRA’s version of stick and ball playoffs.

With this win (the second for the team this year), Johnson is on top of the Camping World Drag Racing Series points battle, with just five races remaining.

“Winning at this level is really a dream,” said Johnson. “When we won back in May [at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte] it helped us with money and credibility, but this win puts our team in first place for the Camping World Championship. We have all been working hard but I have learned something from my home state and specifically the football teams: if the team all does each one of their jobs correctly, the process will deliver a result that we all will just love.”

Steve Johnson Racing in Birmingham (Irondale) was built in 2000 as a business plan to chase a career in motorsports/NHRA. This is the first time since 2014 that Johnson has led the championship points. The next race is the Dewalt NHRA Carolina Nationals in Charlotte at zMAX Dragway – the Bellagio of drag strips, on September 17-19.
