The driver duo uses a raft of 91´«Ã½ Racing components on their Mk5 VW Golf GTI

The Clubracer racing outfit – made up of drivers Henry Wright and Kevin Glover – has relied on 91´«Ã½ components as it has made its way up the ranks through the MSVR Trackday Championship classes.

This all culminated in an outright championship win in 2025 – a fantastic result for the team. Riding off this success, they’ve decided to move onto pastures new for the 2026 season, entering the 750MC Roadsports Championship in their modified Mk5 VW Golf GTI.

With a string of further upgrades applied over the winter, and retaining their winning Apollo Big Brake Kit/RP-Xâ„¢ brake pad setup, the team approached the first round at Croft Circuit with an optimistic mindset.

Find out how it all panned out in their own words below…

“With the success of 2025 behind us, winning the MSVR Trackday Championship overall, we set our sights on a different goal for 2026: the Roadsports Championship hosted by 750MC would be where we plan to do battle. With a very similar format, but slightly higher power categories and faster pit stops, it sets a very different challenge.Ìý

“Over the winter, the car has received a slight power hike with a bigger turbo and supporting mods, along with some other minor upgrades. Rear brakes have been upgraded to factory Mk5 Golf R32 vented EBC plain discs, and Ultimax2 pads with slightly larger diameter; not necessarily for more brake force, but a more consistent temperature window, as the rears are worked quite hard with the OEM ABS system. This, matched with the now tried-and-tested EBC Apollo 6 pot 355x32mm front big brake kit, and our ‘go-to’ RP-Xâ„¢ compound pads.”

“Round 1 was held at the Croft circuit near Darlington, with the weather looking to be mixed to say the least. Qualifying started in wet conditions. We readied the car with a known good wet setup and Kev rolled out to see where we were pace wise.

“Having no previous running against the new field of competitors (26 in our Class B!), it was a complete unknown at this stage. As Kev pulled in after his stint, we were sat in P2 initially – a great start! Henry jumped in for the final few laps with the track conditions improving quickly, but unfortunately a combination of traffic, an odd red flag due to a circuit electrical glitch, and various other racing driver excuses!, we ended the session in P5.

“Still a very respectable start to the campaign. It’s always been a bit of a disadvantage having 2 drivers in a sprint enduro format, as you lose half the session changing drivers and getting back up to speed, whilst single driver entrants keep lapping. Especially in changeable conditions.

Ìý“The new brake setup was proving a vast improvement in terms of feel and temperature consistency, so we were very happy with the confidence that was giving us in the bumpy braking zones.”

“The race was full of excitement, the weather constantly changing throughout. The rolling start went without issue and first five cars including us started to pull away from the remaining pack. With contact up ahead from a bold move into the Complex saw us take advantage and up to P3, using our normal measured approach. A lap later the leader went off going into the Complex too! P2.

“A few laps went by before the previous leading car of Packer was back on our rear bumper, he went through on the inside into the Complex, allowing all 3 leading cars to bunch up nicely heading down into Tower corner the following lap, where Packer re-took the lead. I ceased the opportunity to follow him through with a late brake manoeuvre both going past the leading Mk7 Golf back into P2.”

“On the way into the pits, a lapped Porsche Boxster held us up for half a lap, unfortunately meaning Kev came out the pits now in P4. Soon after Kev’s pit exit, there was a safety car due to a crashed Vauxhall Corsa, meaning it would be a 3-lap sprint to the end. The 3rdÌýplaced BMW Z4 seemed a long way ahead on the penultimate lap, with the added hassle of a lapped VW Scirocco in-between Kev and his target. A very committed move past the backmarker through the left hander of the Esses, subsequently forcing the BMW to out brake himself into Sunny-in. Kev lined up the move into the harpin after getting right up under the bumper through the Complex. taking the P3 spot!

“A podium first time out! Couldn’t be happier with that, especially with the quality of the machinery we were up against. The car was faultless through all the different conditions. Ultimate confidence on the middle pedal making the difference for us once again.ÌýÌý

“Next round – Brands Hatch GPÌýon May 3rd! Bring it on…â€

The NLR racer uses XC-Series discs and GPFAX pads on his race bikes

Motorcycle racer Russell Brook, from Brook Built Racing, is currently competing in the 2024 No Limits Racing (NLR) SuperTwins race series on an Aprilia RS660.

Following a crash mid-way through the season, we catch up with Brook during his return to the 2024 series at the final race at Derbyshire’s Donington Park, where a ferocious comeback ride saw him end the year on a high.

Brook entrusts 91´«Ã½ Racing’s XC-Series discs and GPFAX pads on his race bikes. You can read how he get on across the weekend in his own words below.

“Round 8 of the No Limits Racing championship returned to Donington GP for the final round of the championship. Returning to racing after recovering sufficiently to race since my Round 6 incident, I was pleased with performance. The weather was mainly good for an October meeting and ended the season strong with a 5th place in the SuperTwins Championship.

Thursday – Testing

“Round 8 had no official test day, so I booked onto a track day a couple of days before. The main goal was to find out if I would be able to race at the weekend. I was pleased after seven 20-minute sessions on our R6 I was able to race, and go some way to being ‘bike fit’ for the weekend.â€

SaturdayÌý–ÌýSuperTwins Qualifying

“We went straight into our 10-minute qualifying practice on Saturday morning at 9:02am in cold, but dry conditions. While building pace throughout the session I managed to qualify in 5th position, In the middle of Row 2. Having not raced since mid-August, and some riders fresh from the previous week BSB meeting and a strong field I was happy with this.â€

SuperTwins – Race 1

“Due to No Limits Racing holding the ACU Endurance Championship, many sprint race classes only do one race on Saturday. The first race began just after lunch, conditions were a little warmer I got a reasonable start in the 8-lap race and managed to hold 8th at the finish line. Normally I would expect to be nearer qualifying, but happy this time after the layoff.â€

Sunday –ÌýSuperTwins Race 2

“I got a reasonable start, holding 7th on track. The leading four riders made a gap to the group of racers I was in 4th – 7th. ÌýWe swapped places a few times during the race but entering the last lap I was in 7th place. I felt I had the pace to be in this group all race, and may need to make any moves on the last lap to move up the results. ÌýI made a pass at the Melbourne Loop for 6th, and as luck had it, 5th place had made a pass on me under a yellow flag earlier in the race and given a 10-second penalty, promoting me to 5th.â€

SuperTwins – Race 3

“A couple of hours later saw my best start yet, exiting the second corner in 4th place. However, rain started to spit on Lap 1 and got a bit heavier at one section from Melbourne Loop to Goddards, resulting in the race being red flagged. Some confusion getting the grid back together resulted in tyres colling down too much. The restart was a 5-lap dash with a single warm-up lap. Going down Craner Curves on the warm-up, I could feel the bike slide, and the wooden feeling in the steering that comes with cold tyres. I decided to give the tyres time to warm up and push later in the race. This dropped me to 7th in class, where I remained to the chequered flag.”

Race 4

“Rain came and temperatures dropped before the final race, as I could no longer gain in championship position, and with nothing to gain, I decided to sit out the race.â€

Summary

“All in all, 2024 has been a good season, but missing rounds and races at Cadwell (3 races), Anglesey (1) and Oulton (2), hindered defending a Top 3 in the championship.

“Special thanks to our sponsors and supporters who make going racing easier.â€

The NLR racer uses XC-Series discs and GPFAX pads on his race bikes

Motorcycle racer Russell Brook, from Brook Built Racing, is currently competing in the 2024 No Limits Racing (NLR) race series on an Aprilia RS660 and Yamaha R6.

Another impressive year of racing has seen Brook sit in the top five overall standings – a position he managed to maintain following another successful round at North Wales’ Anglesey Circuit recently (with some spills thrown in for good measure along the way).

Brook entrusts 91´«Ã½ Racing’s XC-Series discs and GPFAX pads on his race bikes. You can read how his weekend went down in his own words below.

“Round 6 of the No Limits Racing championship took us to the coastal circuit of Anglesey. Blessed with good weather throughout the weekend, we experienced solid results, improvements to the bike and a costly off-track excursion.

“Friday was a general testing day. I’d found in the last few rounds I could hit a pace and then plateau. TW Suspension were in the paddock and I paid a visit to check the bike’s geometry. It’s been changed and tweaked for the short circuits and road racing and errors can creep in. Over the last three seasons, it turned out to be quite large from when I initially got the Aprilia RS660.

“Saturday – Qualifying. The 10-minute qualifying practice began on Saturday morning without incident, and the bike felt instantly better. While building pace throughout the session, I managed to qualify in 7th spot, on the outside of row 3. Not a bad position.”

“Saturday –ÌýRace 1. A few hours later, I got a reasonable start in the 7-lap race and didn’t lose any places, by mid race I had settled up into 7th place with the top 8 all lapping within a second a lap. Being a short start-finish straight, I missed the last lap flag. Hitting some lapped riders, I did not ride as defensive as I could have and lost position on the last few corners to finish 8th and qualify 8th for the next race. Lap time from the previous race is used to provide grid slot for next race. Also, as NLR run the endurance championship, there were no further solo races on Saturday.

“Sunday – Race 2. I got a reasonable start, finishing the last lap in 7th, making another position up to 6th a lap later I had a clear track and able to close the gap on 5th position. The 10-lap race ended and I finished in 6th place, I had managed to do the 3rd fastest time of the race which gave me P3 for the next race.

“Sunday – Race 3. A couple of hours later saw my best start yet, exiting the second corner in 3rd place. I dropped back to 5th by the chequered flag, but still my best result of the weekend.

“Sunday – Race 4. The last race of the weekend didn’t end so well. I got a good start with the leading pack, but near the end of the lap another rider from behind tried an ambitious move and ran into the side of me in the fast downhill section before the corkscrew. There wasn’t time to separate, myself and the bike went down hard, aggravating old shoulder, chest and neck injuries, writing off my leathers, gloves and helmet and bursting the petrol tank, as well as the usual crash damage to bodywork, handlebars and switchgear.

“It’s been a costly weekend to come away from, but will do our best to be out at the next round at Oulton Park in just over a week. Recovery and bike parts permitting. Big shout out to Tuet from TW suspension, and Chris Hayes for supporting me all weekend. Also, big shout to the Froggatt Racing team for all your help and support, and the many well-wishers who’ve been in touch. I leave the meeting 5th in the championship, and two rounds remaining.

“Special thanks to our sponsors and supporters who make going racing easier.â€

Russell Brook entered the demanding Isle of Man-based road race

Motorcycle racer Russell Brook, from Brook Built Racing, is currently competing in the 2024 No Limits Racing (NLR) race series on an Aprilia RS660 and Yamaha R6.

Brook entrusts 91´«Ã½ Racing’s XC-Series discs and GPFAX pads on his race bikes.

Brook took a break from the NLR recently, to enter the gruelling Southern 100 road race on the Isle of Man, with guest team-mate, Adrian Harrison.

Between them, the pair secured some fantastic results, as you can read in Russell’s own words below…

“The Southern 100 Road Races are one of the highlight meetings. As with most other road races, I entered the lightweight (Super Twins) on the Brook Built Aprilia RS660, and SuperSport races on the Yamaha YZF R6. The meeting was hampered by some incidents on track, Nobel’s hospital capacity and poor weather, but racing took place.

“After mediocre qualifying due to taking no risks in poor conditions, I managed to get satisfactory results, enjoyed the racing immensely, and my team-mate (Adrian Harrison) made the podium on the second Brook Built Racing Yamaha R6.â€

Monday Eve Practice and Qualifying

“The weather over the weekend and Monday had been bright and sunny; perfect conditions and everyone was looking forward to a good start to the weeks racing. I had two practice and qualifying sessions for the lightweight and the first Super Sport practice in the schedule. Unfortunately, after a serious incident during the newcomer sighting laps, the evening got delayed and due to no capacity at Nobel’s Hospital, the race had to be cancelled. This was a big blow to everyone.â€

Tuesday Evening practice, qualifying and lightweight race

“Having lost the first night, we were straight into Lightweight qualifying, then Super Sport, followed by the first Lightweight race. Weather conditions were poor with rain and the occasional dry spell meaning the track never dried fully.

“We had three laps in the Lightweight to qualify, being my first outing on track I rode safely to refamiliarise myself with the circuit and conditions; others were more willing to take more risk, or just adapted to the conditions better, but I managed to qualify 29th in second last grid slot.

“With a few laps completed, the Super Sport qualifying was a little better, and in four laps I managed Row 5 in the B final – the first race planned to run next day.

“Next up, we were heading out of the paddock to line up for the first Lightweight race. Conditions had deteriorated to heavy rain, and the dark clouds made visibility poor, especially for us further down the grid. Right from the start, visibility was poor from the spray coming from other bikes, the rain and poor light. I made a few places off the line and decided to play safe and get to the finish line in the reduced (to 5 laps) race. I managed to complete the first race in 24th ±è´Ç²õ¾±³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô.â€

Wednesday Racing

“We all passed scrutineering and waited in parc ferme for racing to begin. It rained all day and didn’t stop for the evenings racing; the day was cancelled with no racing taking place.â€

Thursday Racing

“With the delays and cancelled sessions, I had a Super Sport race (one got cancelled) in the morning and the second Lightweight race in the afternoon. Without any rain, the track got better as the day went on, being fully dry after only a handful of races.

“In the Super Sport race, conditions were mostly dry. I opted for a front wet tyre combined with a dry rear as it was difficult to fully judge the conditions. I had qualified on row 5 while Adrian, my team-mate, had made pole position. I made a good start and made my way to 9th position for most of the race, until I out-braked myself on the last corner going into the last lap and lost three places. We all seemed to be running the same pace as we stayed together without swapping places on the last lap. I finished 12th and thoroughly enjoyed racing at the Billown circuit for the first time this meeting. A nice bonus was learning my team mate had made second place on the podium.

“For the second Lightweight race, we started from our original qualifying position, middle of the back row for me. I managed a great start, making several positions and passed more during the first lap. I caught the next group at the end of lap 2 and getting set to make a pass when the red flag came out near the end of lap 3 after an incident at Stadium Corner and the race was called a result. I’d made it to 15th from 29th and have to say it felt like the best two laps I’ve done at the S100, leaving the circuit with a big smile.

“Although it was a challenging S100 this year for everyone including the organisers, who I must commend for making tough decisions and keeping the meeting going, the new start procedure gets a big thumbs up from me; I didn’t hear any negative comments about it, it was a good meeting. Seeing old friends and making new ones I left the meeting in great spirits.

“I’d like to thank my personal helpers: Grahame Collinge and Chris Haynes for getting me out on track each evening, also the second half of the Brook Built Racing team helping Adrian Harrison. His dad Conrad, Nick Colley and son, Mucky Al, and Steve Hebden.

“Also, a special thanks to our sponsors and supporters who make going racing easier.”

Russell Brook and Tom Collinge scored well across the demanding weekend

Motorcycle racer Russell Brook, from Brook Built Racing, is currently competing in the 2024 No Limits Racing (NLR) race series on a Aprilia RS660 and Yamaha R6.

Brook entrusts 91´«Ã½ Racing’s XC-Series discs and GPFAX pads on his race bikes.

The most recent round saw him entering a SuperTwins endurance race at Darlington’s Croft Circuit, with the help of teammate Tom Collinge.

You can read how his weekend went down in his own words below.

“Croft is one of my favourite circuits; fast and flowing. And in perfect-condition racing, it doesn’t get much better. It’s been a long time since not having to roll out the wet tyres for a race meeting, and sunny conditions were very welcome.

“This round, I entered the Aprilia RS660 in the SuperTwins and partnered with Tom Collinge in the 3-hour endurance race.

“SuperTwins qualifying: in the 10-minute qualifying session, I got out of the holding area quickly to get a clear few laps, qualifying on the front of the second row in 4th position on lap 4.

“Endurance qualifying is done over a 40-minute timed session, where all riders have to complete more than three laps; the fastest rider’s time in the team is used to qualify us. As the first SuperTwin race was straight after this session, I went out first on the Yamaha R6. I took about 15 mins of the session before handing over to Tom. Tom’s time qualified the team in 18th overall and 8th overall in the National 600 class.

“Day one racing started with the SuperTwins. I got a bad start and completed lap 1 in about 7th position. I managed to claw back to 4th, but got slowed passing lapped riders and got pipped on the last corner, finishing 5th.

“A couple of hours later saw the beginning of the three-hour endurance race. Teamwork and strategy play a big part in endurance racing. As Tom was returning from injury and not raced this year, we decided to do three 30-minute stints each instead of two 45-minute sessions. Tom started the race and we finished his session in 7th place. We alternated the sessions for the rest of the three hours, fluctuating between 7th and 9th in class and 13-15 overall.

“The team did a fantastic job preparing the bikes, pit signals and getting myself and Tom ready to ride and get out on track during the rider changeover. The race went as smoothly as is possible and I took the chequered flag in 7th position. Being a national championship, there is a strict Pirelli tyre rule and a team two places higher were disqualified, leaving us in 6th in class and 12th overall.

“I’d like to thank the support team Grahame Collinge (pit board and wall man), Chris Hayes (fuel and support), Anthony Froggart (fuel and bike prep), as well as Steve and Jim Weatherhold for looking after timing and riders during changeover. Day 1 complete!

“Day 2 started at 12 pm due to local noise rules on Sundays. The SuperTwins was the first race of the day’s program. I made a good start, running in 2nd before dropping to 4th after four laps before the red flag. In the five-lap restart held 3rd into the first corner and dropped top 4th by the end of the first lap. I had a good second or so on 5th but caught a lapped rider at the tight chicane and lost the advantage, again leaving myself open for an attack on the last corner, losing 4th and crossing the line in 5th.

“The last race of the day also ran well, running in 3rd spot for a couple of laps before dropping to 4th. This time the lapped riders did not affect the outcome, and crossed the line in 4th place.

“A great weekend and who could complain, racing in fantastic sunny conditions at one of my favourite circuits. Next the team and I will be traveling to the Isle of Man for the Southern 100 road races in-between NLR RND 5 at Brands Hatch GP circuit.â€

The regular NLR racer uses XC-Series discs and GPFAX pads on his race bikes

Motorcycle racer Russell Brook, from Brook Built Racing, is currently competing in the 2024 No Limits Racing (NLR) race series on a Aprilia RS660 and Yamaha R6.

During a short gap between races, Brook decided to keep his eye in by entering a guest North East Motorcycle Racing Club (NEMRC) race at Darlington’s Croft Circuit.

Brook entrusts 91´«Ã½ Racing’s XC-Series discs and GPFAX pads on his race bikes. You can read how his weekend went down in his own words below.

“Between the Snetterton and Donington rounds with NLR, I decided to race with NEMRC in their season-opening round at Croft coming home with a second and three thirds.Ìý

“Testing started OK, but it rained in the next session, so getting familiar with the bike and track didn’t go forward as planned, but any seat time is good.

“Just before qualifying, a fuel spillage most of the way around the track happened in the previous session. Qualifying got underway after a short delay.

“Qualifying didn’t go too well; the fuel spillage was at the top of my mind, and I could only manage 25th position.

“A few hours later, Race 1 was mainly dry, and I managed to get up to 9th on track (5th in class) before the chequered flag. This set me up much higher on the grid for Race 2.”

“Race 2 was again in good weather conditions. Coming from the 3rd row, I managed to end the first lap in 3rd; I stayed in this position until the finish. However, something must have happened to one of the first two riders as they didn’t finish, and I got 2nd on track and 2nd in class.

“Race 3 the following day was dry but much more windy. Starting 2nd on the grid, I held 2nd on track until about mid-race; I got passed by the rider who retired from Race 2, who must have had a poor grid. I understand he went on to win, while I finished 3rd on track and 3rd in class.

“Race 4 was a dry start, but mental rain spots mid-race meant I didn’t push as hard in some areas, and my pace dropped off a bit; I finished 3rd on track and 3rd in class.

“This was a nice meeting run by a great club, and it set me up well for NLR round 2 at Donington next weekend.â€

Daniel Livingstone secured gold following thrilling drives at Croft and Donington Park

Caterham racer, Daniel Livingstone, is currently racing in the Sigmax class of the Caterham Graduates race series.

This class hosts Caterhams up to 140bhp, with various modifications allowed, meaning Livingstone has opted for 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-Xâ„¢ track/race brake pad (front axle), and 91´«Ã½â€™ Bluestuff road/track brake pad (rear axle).

Following an incredibly successful year, including three podium finishes at Croft Circuit earlier in the summer, Livingstone most recently took to Derbyshire’s Donington Park Circuit where more strong results ensured he secured gold in the series before the final race had even taken place.

You can read how he clinched the championship at Donington in his own words below.

“Dreams can come true!

“The penultimate round of the championship arrived at Donington Park. Going into the weekend I knew I had to outscore second-place driver Arnell to secure the title. I put myself under too much pressure on Saturday – the race started, I made a silly mistake and ended up in the gravel on the first corner – somehow managing to drive out and continue. Running RP-X™ pads means I can brake extremely late and this enabled me to make up the places fighting my way back to 3rd place!

“Sunday arrived and I probably had my best race all year since Brands Hatch. Great overtakes, great pace and I came across the line in 2nd place, with the fastest lap. This was later upgraded to 1st place following the leader being disqualified for being underweight. The above secured me the championship!”

“It’s been a brilliant year! I’ve learnt so much on and off track. Having 91´«Ã½â€™ support has been a dream and I attribute some of my championship win to being backed by them. If anyone is sat on the fence deciding whether to buy these pads – go and get yourself some now!â€

Chris Jones achieved two silvers and one gold finish at the Croft round of the championship

Using 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-Xâ„¢ motorsport brake pads for the latter half of the 2021 season helped Chris Jones to propel his Ford Fiesta ST150 to anÌý, beating all faster classes in the process.

This year, he’s enjoyed similar successes using the same brake pad setup, with wins at both and over the summer.

Jones most recently headed to the North Yorkshire-based Croft Circuit for the latest round, where a podium finish was waiting for him in all three races of the triple-header held across the weekend.

Jones explains how it all panned out below in his own words.

“We were back out again in the 91´«Ã½ Racing-supported Fiesta ST Challenge car, equipped with RP-Xâ„¢ pads for a triple header at Croft Circuit.

“With testing on the Friday going well and going over 1.2 seconds quicker than last year, I was looking forward to qualifying and the races.

“With times swapping between myself and the eventual pole sitter, I finished qualifying in 2nd, but still on the front row.”

“During Race 1, a good start got me in the lead but running side-by-side through the chicane I dropped to second and a safety car disrupted the race, meaning I finished 2nd.

“Race 2 was much better; with another brilliant start, I got my head down and tried to make a break from the pack. Holding the lead for the entire race and taking another 1st place for the year.

“Race 3 was 20 minutes long and was epic – going side-by-side off the start, the race-long battle ended with me in a close 2nd place but with the fastest lap and a large gap to 3rd place while still racing hard. The RP-X™ pads were still as good as ever.

“The brakes are still performing brilliantly as they have all year. We go into the final round in a few weeks’ time, so watch this space…â€

Mark Dicken piloted his Honda Civic Type R to second place at Croft Circuit

Racer Mark Dicken switched from another brand to 91´«Ã½ Racing’s RP-1â„¢ motorsport brake pads in the latter half of the 2021 season of the 750MC Type R Trophy series.

Pleased with how the component performed in his race-prepared EP3 Honda Civic Type R, Dicken plans to run the RP-Xâ„¢ pad for the duration of the 2022 season, securing great results in the first round held at North Yorkshire-based Croft Circuit recently.

You can read how the weekend of action unfolded for Dicken in his own words below.

“Before the racing began, we had a Friday test day. The first session was all about bedding in the new tyres and brakes.

“Last year, for the last few rounds, I started running EBC’s RP-1™ pads and found these to be on-par with the other brand of pad I was using, but lasting a lot better and not suffering with fade towards the end of the race.

“During some testing over last few months, I switched to the RP-X™ pad and wow – they are next level again, with so much stopping power compared to other pads. I have tried a number of brake pads, but no matter how hard you use these, they don’t suffer from the fade other pads seem to.

“One issue I had in pre-season testing was the rears locking up due to not running ABS. This is something that’s always going to be an issue, but it was like a handbrake being applied. I was running another company’s rear pad, so after a quick chat with the experts over at EBC, a new batch of RP-X™ front pads and some EBC rears were ordered and arrived the next day, top service guys!

“Once they were all bedded in, I did three race simulation runs during the Friday test day and a few qualifying hot lap-style runs. The brake balance was really good. Into sections of the track like Sunny In, Tower and Complex, where you’re scrubbing speeds of around 130mph down to 40-70mph, I could now trail brake without the risk of it going around on me as the rear snagged like before. Only now and again some smoke would come of the rears, but this was as the outside rear wheel was getting airborne.

“Race 1: after qualifying, it was clear that Christopher Nylan and Jake Hewlett had about half a second on the rest of us, with 3rd to 10th all separated by hardly anything.

“Luckily for me, a good start and a nice move around the first few corners got me up to 2nd, where a race-long defence was in order to keep this position. Jake had a good run at one point and showed his nose ahead of me into turn one, but luckily, I had the inside line and my EBC brakes were working amazing so we held onto it. I finally crossed the line 0.10 seconds ahead of him, getting second place and my first ever Type R Trophy podium.

“Race 2: starting 9th as they reverse the top 10 of Race 1, the start was a messy one for most due to some creeping at the start and some slow starters. I went down the back straight in 7th behind Ash Moor who was showing good pace and it took me a good two or three laps to finally get past him on the brakes into Tower bend.

“Ash then followed me for a few laps until he tried a move at the same place. Luckily for mem he didn’t get it stopped enough and ran a little wide on the grass, giving me a gap. By this time the leading five cars were well up the road and with some free track space I got my head down and was matching their pace, but just couldn’t claw enough back. I crossed the line in 6th, but after a few penalties, I got promoted up to 4th.

“A massive thanks the team at 91´«Ã½ Racing team – just by listening to a few issues I was having over a quick email chat, they have resolved my issues I was having. I’m looking forward to the year ahead running EBC brakes and I know at any point I can ask any questions and receive a professional and top reply and service.â€

EP3 Civic Type R driver tried out 91´«Ã½ Racing’s friction material in Snetterton leg of the race series

A few weeks ago, Type R Trophy racer, Luke Rosewell, tested 91´«Ã½ Racing’s high-performance RP-1 brake pads in his EP3 Honda Civic Type R during the Croft Circuit round of the series.

The weekend was meant to be a chance to try out the firm’s equally-as-competent RP-X pads, too, but some misfortune in the form of a blown engine unfortunately put an end to that plan.

The next leg of the championship took Luke to Snetterton, where this time luck was on his side, meaning both variants of the ‘RP’ pads could be given a try back-to-back across the weekend in his hot hatch.

Luke’s thoughts on the weekend and how the brake pads fared can be viewed below in his own words.

“I finally got to try the RP-X pads at the weekend in the Civic and I’ve only got one word to describe them… WOW!

“I started the Friday test day on the RP-1s from the last round, but with some extra cooling, and we were instantly on the pace. There was also absolutely no fade after 20-25 minutes of running, so the cooling helped hugely for the pads.

“Towards the end of the day, I was to bed in the RP-X front pads ready for qualifying on Saturday morning. After following the bedding-in instructions for a couple of laps, we left them to cool for five minutes before trying to push. Wow; the stopping power of the RP-X was unbelievable – I was able to effortlessly brake 10 metres later at all the big braking zones. I was in P2 at the end of the day and we were certainly not being out-braked by anyone with this setup!

“Qualifying went well as we secured P3, albeit with some struggles to get the car’s balance right with the high track temperatures. The brakes were fantastic and the car was so stable under heavy braking for the whole 15-minute session.â€

“In Race 1, we lost a place off the line, but we had such an advantage under brakes, we pressured the P3 driver into a mistake trying to brake later into a corner than they could. By this time, 2ndÌýwas out of reach so we settled for 3rd.

“In Race 2, we held P3 off the line and went with the front two drivers. Unfortunately, the safety car came out halfway around the first lap so we didn’t have a chance to make a move. Under the safety car, we lost ABS due to a failed sensor. This meant we had a large rear brake bias which made the car quite on edge.

“After the restart, we went with the leaders but a slight rear lock up into a hairpin dropped us back a couple of car lengths. With only two laps after the safety car, there wasn’t enough time to make any of the gap back.

“Overall, I would say the RP-X pad had a better initial bite than the RP-1, but we have yet to see how the life of them stands up in comparison. The weekend was very hot (over 30°C), yet we had no pad fade whatsoever, even following cars closely.

“With no ABS in Race 2, I was expecting the brakes to be a bit too grabby for a standard system, but quite the opposite! You could stand on the brakes and the car was very stable, up until the point you started trailing into the corner and the rear would just snatch slightly. I felt as though we were never lacking on brakes throughout the weekend, compared to the others around us, all the 91´«Ã½ products I have tried so far have been a huge step forward in performance!

“I’ll certainly be getting another set of RP-X to use at the next round at Silverstone!â€
