Max Symonds uses 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs

Wiltshire-based motorcycle racer, Max Symonds has been competing in the British Superbike Championship鈥檚 National Superstock category for a number of years.

The rider, who also聽won Castle Combe Circuit鈥檚 NG Road Racing 鈥楰ing of Combe鈥 race in 2025, switched from his Yamaha R1 to a Honda CBR 1000RR Fireblade last year, continuing to use this bike and its 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs setup for the 2026 season.

Following some聽extensive testing at the start of the year across Europe and an NG Road Racing outing at Brands Hatch earlier in the year, we next caught up with Symonds after a stint of testing and another NG Road Racing weekend across April.

Read how the month panned out in his own words below鈥

Snetterton Test Day

鈥淲e started the month with a test day at Snetterton 鈥 my first laps of the circuit on the Fireblade. The main aim was to establish a solid base setting on the bike and get back up to speed around the track having not raced here last year.

鈥淪trict noise limits on the day, combined with some changeable weather, meant we didn’t get as much time on track as we’d have liked. However, as the conditions improved towards the end of the afternoon we managed to put some good laps together and came away with a good setting for the race event back here later in the year.鈥

Cadwell Park 鈥 NG Road Racing Round 2

鈥淎fter taking four wins and setting a new lap record at round one, we decided to enter the second event of the NG Road Racing Season at Cadwell Park.

鈥淪aturday was a solid start, qualifying second in both the Powerbike and Open classes and taking a pair of second-place finishes in the races. Overnight, we made some changes to the bike set-up and I worked on a few adjustments to my riding style. This made big improvements for Sunday as we went on to take two wins after some really close races and fast, consistent lap times.鈥

Oulton Park 鈥 BSB Pre-Season Test

鈥淥ur first official BSB event of the year. Two full days on track gave us the chance to run through a wide range of set-up options and really get the bike working the way we want it to.

鈥淚 was happy to put in a new personal best lap time and to be lapping with pretty consistent pace throughout. The test was a lot of hard work with a total of 90 laps logged over the two days which was all worth it as the bike is starting to feel exactly how I want it and we left Oulton Park with a big smile on our faces.鈥

Donington Park 鈥 Test Day

鈥淗aving missed the official BSB test there earlier in the month, it was important to get some laps in round here ahead of the race later in the season.

鈥淐old temperatures and high winds made the morning session tricky, but as the weather improved through the afternoon I was able to put in some strong lap times. We finished the day happy with the progress made and confident going into the start of the BSB season.鈥

Wiltshire-based motorcycle racer, Max Symonds has been competing in the British Superbike Championship鈥檚 National Superstock category for a number of years.

Following some extensive testing at the start of the year across Europe, we next caught up with Symonds after his first race of the year 鈥 an NG Road Racing outing at Brands Hatch 鈥 ahead of his BSB season start.

Here, Symonds dominated in the Powerbike and Open classes, as you can read below in his team鈥檚 own words鈥

鈥淪ymonds Racing enjoyed a highly successful outing at the NG Road Racing season opener at Brands Hatch, delivering a dominant performance across both the Powerbike and Open classes.

鈥淢ax qualified on pole position in both categories, went on to win all four races he entered, and broke both class lap records including setting a new outright NG lap record at Brands Hatch Indy in the process,鈥 his team explains.

鈥淲ith the British Superbike season still a few weeks away, we decided to enter round one of the NG Road Racing championship to gain valuable track time.

鈥淔riday鈥檚 test day was especially useful, with lots of track sessions allowing us to test new rear suspension components and a find a good direction for the season ahead.

鈥淪aturday started with qualifying sessions for both classes, where I was able to put the bike on pole in each with some strong laps.

鈥淯nfortunately, due to some work that needed doing on the bike between sessions, we decided to sit out the first Open race to make sure everything was 100% ready. With no championship points on the line, it made sense not to take any unnecessary risks.

鈥淚 got back out in the first Powerbike race and managed to take a lights to flag victory, setting a new lap record of 47.2 seconds along the way.”

鈥淪unday morning鈥檚 second Open race was a bit more of a challenge, starting from the back of the grid after missing Saturday鈥檚 race. This meant a pretty hectic start to the race as I worked my way through from 34th to the lead by lap eight. Once I hit the front I was then able to pull out a gap and take the win by a couple of seconds.

鈥淪tarting from pole again in the next Powerbike race, I made the most of the clear track ahead and really pushed on putting together a strong run of laps under my previous best. By lap 5 I had set a new lap record of 46.7 seconds 鈥 half a second quicker than the day before.

鈥淚n the final Open race of the weekend, I had a bit of a moment coming out of turn one, but was able to regroup and control the race from the front to take another win, along with a new class lap record of 47.0 seconds.

鈥淗aving achieved everything we wanted from the weekend, we decided to sit out the final Powerbike race, saving tyres and ending the weekend on a high.

鈥淥verall, the weekend couldn鈥檛 have gone better, we made lots of progress with the bike set-up and came away with a load of wins and laps records!鈥

Following some great rides towards the back end of 2025, Symonds has since been busy testing for another busy summer of racing ahead, laying down rubber at three tracks across Europe recently.

Read his thoughts on testing and the year ahead in his own words below鈥

鈥淭he 2026 pre-season has been all about putting in lots of laps, learning as much as possible, and building momentum for the year ahead. Lots of time on track at 笔辞谤迟颈尘茫辞, Almer铆a and Castle Combe 鈥 three totally different tracks 鈥 have all helped me and the team step things up in different ways.鈥

笔辞谤迟颈尘茫辞

鈥淲e kicked things off at the awesome 笔辞谤迟颈尘茫辞 circuit that has everything from blind crests and heavy braking sections to big drops super high speed corners. To go fast here you鈥檝e got to commit everywhere.

鈥淚t ended up being a really fun and productive weekend from the first session right through to the last. From the first session out, things just started clicking and we kept building from there. Being away from a race event meant I could enjoy riding the bike without any pressure and have the opportunity to try different things with my riding style and position on the bike that I would not normally have the time to do.

鈥淚 managed to put in a new PB too, which was a bonus but the bigger win was the progress made with my riding.鈥

Almeria

鈥淣ext up was Almeria. A tight, technical track with not much time to breathe. With five days on track, this one was all about getting my head down and putting the laps in.

鈥淚 had a plan in mind to make the most of the track time we had which started out with just doing lots and lots on laps using hard tyres that would last the distance. This allowed me to learn the track, understand how to ride around the lack of grip that came with harder compound tyres, and work more on my riding style on the bike. The second half of the test was all about starting to try different electronic settings to understand what different changes felt like, what suited my riding style and what didn鈥檛, and what I would need to test further back in the UK. The Final runs of the test were about putting in some real fast laps, despite some high winds I improved my lap time by almost a second to be the fastest rider in the test out of about 135 people.鈥

Castle Combe

鈥淟ast stop was Castle Combe Circuit. It was bright and sunny, but absolutely freezing. Even so, we managed to get some really solid laps in and worked through a busy program of electronic setups with the traction control, anti-wheel, power modes, and engine braking.

鈥淒espite the colder weather it felt great to be back at Combe. There鈥檚 something about riding at my home track that hits a bit different, especially right before the season starts. We ended the day and finished off this run of testing with lots more learnt about the bike 鈥ot quite time to go BSB racing just yet as for some extra testing in March I will be joining NG Road Racing, my old club, for their pre-season test day at Castle Combe and first round of racing at Brands Hatch.鈥

The Armed Forces race team uses 91传媒 Racing components

True Heroes Racing is a motorcycle racing outfit supporting riders in various race series across the UK.

Priding itself on being the UK’s first and only not-for-profit motorcycle race team dedicated to supporting wounded, injured and sick UK Armed Forces personnel and veterans, the team helps to engage, empower and inspire.

All riders are currently using 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 GPFAX race pads and XC floating discs, and you can read a season round-up in the team鈥檚 own words below鈥

鈥淎s the 2025 season draws to a close, we鈥檙e proud to share a look back at what has been a transformative and inspiring year for True Heroes Racing 鈥 a season filled with growth and gratitude.

鈥淲e began the 2025 season with a bold and symbolic shift 鈥 moving away from Ducati machinery after a decade-long partnership and stepping into a new era with Honda. This transition wasn鈥檛 just about changing bikes; it was about embracing a fresh challenge and continuing to evolve as a team.

鈥淎t the same time, our presence in the ROKiT OFF BMW F900R Cup also evolved with Leon Wilton, who had previously represented us on the Ducati platform, took on a new challenge with a totally different type of machine. We were proud to welcome Corporal Kenny Macleod to the team 鈥 an active RAF serviceman and passionate racer 鈥 who joined us through our ongoing collaboration with military motorsport associations. His arrival not only strengthened our rider lineup but also reinforced our mission to provide meaningful opportunities for our beneficiaries.”

鈥淯nfortunately, early in the season, we experienced a change of rider in our Superstock line-up. While this could have left us without a rider at a critical point in the year, the strength and depth of our team 鈥 both past and present 鈥 quickly came to the fore.

鈥淩ather than scrambling for external replacements, two of our former riders stepped up without hesitation. Dave 鈥淪alty鈥 Sellers and Dave 鈥楽crawn鈥 Mackay, both of whom had previously raced for us on the Ducati and Suzuki platforms, returned to the fold as wildcards. Their willingness to jump back in and represent the team not only ensured we remained competitive but also demonstrated the enduring loyalty and camaraderie that defines True Heroes Racing.”

鈥淟ater in the year, when both Daves were unavailable, we welcomed Paul Cunvin, a Royal Airforce veteran, who took on the Honda ride. Initially joining us to get a feel for the team environment, Paul quickly proved himself a capable and聽committed addition, stepping into the role with confidence and professionalism.

鈥淟ooking ahead to the 2026 season, True Heroes Racing is proud to continue growing as more people reach out for support and opportunities to be part of our mission. The team has confirmed its rider line-up for the season, and it reflects both continuity and exciting new chapters.”

鈥淚n the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship, we鈥檒l see Charlie White return to the grid, now joined by Paul Cunvin, a Royal Airforce veteran who made his debut with us in 2025.

鈥淚n the ROKiT OFF BMW F900R Cup, both Leon Wilton and Cpl Kenny Macleod will return to the grid, bringing consistency, experience and a shared commitment to pushing themselves and the team forward.

鈥淏ut perhaps the most powerful story of the season will be that of Chris, our inaugural Grassroots Pathway rider and a veteran of the Parachute Regiment. After competing in the Clubman 600 and Phoenix Open classes, Chris is now stepping up to the British Superbike Championship grid in the ROKiT OFF BMW F900R Cup 鈥 a remarkable achievement in itself.鈥

With great results achieved at聽the most recent Cadwell Park round of BSB聽(after Symonds returned to the saddle following an ankle injury which put him out of action over the summer months), Symonds ended the year on a high at the final round at Kent鈥檚 Brands Hatch Circuit.

Read more about the weekend in his team鈥檚 own words below鈥

鈥淪ymonds Racing wrapped up the BSB season on a high, securing multiple points finishes, continuing the momentum since my return from injury. The team鈥檚 hard work throughout the season culminated in a strong performance at the final round at Brands Hatch.

鈥淭he Donington and Oulton Park rounds proved challenging for me, as I鈥檇 missed both the pre-season test and the early-season races at those circuits. Despite the limited track time, we quickly found a competitive setup and showed impressive pace. Unfortunately, being forced off track during the race at Donington Park and then failing to complete a lap in qualifying at Oulton Park 鈥 due to bike issues and the session being cut short 鈥 meant I had to start from the back of the grid, which ended any real chance of standout results.”

鈥淏rands Hatch was a completely different story. Having visited the circuit earlier in the season for my first ride back after injury, we arrived with a solid base setup and I had valuable recent on-track experience. That allowed us to hit the ground running and show strong pace throughout practice and qualifying.

鈥淪aturday featured two 12-lap races where I delivered solid performances, finishing 14th and 15th. My best lap of 1:27.6 was over a second quicker than my previous personal best at the circuit.

鈥淚 felt great on the bike all weekend and was really pleased we were able to make the most of riding here earlier in the year. Both races were great results and could have been even better if not for a safety car in the first race and a red flag in the second, which slowed my progress further up the results sheet.”

鈥淪unday brought new challenges, with heavy rain and strong winds making for tricky conditions. Starting from P14, I was pushed back on the opening lap and then took a few laps to adjust to the wet conditions with it being my first rain race in a couple of years. Once I found my rhythm, I started picking riders off one by one to finish 16th, just narrowly missing out on a third consecutive points result.

鈥淥verall, Brands Hatch was the strongest round of the BSB season for me and the team. It really showcased the pace we would have been capable of throughout the year, had it not been for the extended injury layoff at the start of the season. With the season now concluded, we鈥檒l take a short break to rest and reset before heading to 笔辞谤迟颈尘茫辞 at the end of November for pre-season testing ahead of 2026.鈥

With great results achieved at the most recent Cadwell Park round of BSB (after Symonds returned to the saddle following an ankle injury which put him out of action over the summer months), Max took a break from the series to return to his home circuit of Castle Combe for a very special one-off race weekend.

Here, he was pleased to once again secure 鈥楰ing of Combe鈥 status after some fantastic riding across the two days.

Read more about the weekend in his team鈥檚 own words below鈥

鈥淢ax Symonds and his team rose to the challenge at the recent Motorcycle National by NG Road Racing event at Castle Combe Circuit, claiming the coveted 鈥楰ing of Combe鈥 title for the third time, following previous wins in 2022 and 2023.

鈥淭he 鈥楰ing of Combe鈥 crown is decided over a single weekend, consisting of one qualifying session and three races. The rider with the best overall results across the races takes home the title.

鈥淎s a local favourite and previous two-time winner of the event, Max entered the weekend as the rider to beat. However, the competition was fierce, with several British Superbike Championship riders also in contention.”

鈥淢ax made an impressive start, securing pole position and winning Race 1 on Saturday by more than six seconds.”

Max Symonds: 鈥淚 made the most of starting at the front, got away well, and put in some fast laps to build up a gap to the riders behind,鈥 Max said. 鈥淎fter that, I kept an eye on my pit board to manage the gap and bring it home. Despite being able to build up a good lead, the bike felt quite hard to ride with the rear tyre sliding a lot under acceleration so we had some work to do overnight to improve the set-up for Sunday.鈥

鈥淪unday brought new challenges, with temperatures dropping sharply and the colder track reducing grip levels.

鈥淚n Sunday鈥檚 first race, Max made another strong start, immediately pulling a gap from the pack. Unfortunately, the race was red-flagged due to a crash, forcing a restart. In the rerun, Max faced closer pressure from the chasing riders, but once his tyres reached temperature, he delivered a series of fast laps to stretch his lead and take his second win of the weekend.”

鈥淗eading into the final race, Max stuck to his proven strategy: warm up the tyres, push hard early to build a gap, then manage the pace to the finish. The plan worked perfectly and he once again pulled away from the field and took the win.

鈥淲ith that, Max was crowned King of Combe for the third time in dominant style with pole position, three wins out of three, and the fastest lap of the weekend.鈥

Rob Lewis entrusts EBC braking components in his Ford Focus ST170

For 2024, Rob Lewis is once again competing in the Modified Ford Series in his Mk1 Ford Focus ST170 (Class B).

Lewis has successfully campaigned within this championship for some years now, entrusting 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 RP-X鈩 motorsport brake pads for the front axle of his race car, and 91传媒鈥 Bluestuff NDX pads on the rear axle throughout this time.

It鈥檚 been a busy year so far for the racer, who carried out a number of substantial upgrades to his car over the winter period, including a whole-new engine setup with more power now on tap.

You can read how the first three rounds have gone in his own words below.

鈥淚t’s been full-on since my season started! The new Ecoboost engine setup is working wonders in the Modified Ford Series聽so far.鈥

Round 1 鈥 Silverstone

鈥淭his was an unknown and a chance to see where my car now stood compared to the rest of the grid. I took home 8th and 7th in class positions out of 17 (16th & 12th Overall). I knew what was needed going to round 2 but overall felt the car had processed really well since 2023.听

鈥淭he most important thing was how the brakes kept the fantastic performance with an extra 100hp and 200ft Ibs going to the wheels! Love the RP-X鈩 辫补诲蝉.鈥

Round 2 鈥 Oulton Park

鈥淥nce again going into this round, I was wondering if setup improvements and map tweaks since Silverstone would push me further up the grid! Well… race 1 certainly proved that! CLASS PODIUM for 3rd in class and 7th overall聽鈥 really chuffed and a testament to the car! The brakes were a huge part of this success.

鈥淩ace 2 gave me 5th in Class and 10th Overall after some scraps! Coming away with a podium really boosted my confidence heading to my 鈥榟ome鈥 round.鈥

Round 3 鈥 Castle Combe

鈥淭his round took place on May Bank Holiday, and was planned to be a hectic 3-race day! It was certainly hectic! After a gearbox mount sheared in qualifying, I didn’t set a time so was 41st and stone dead last.听

鈥淚n race 1, I was passing cars to get to 21st overall and 8th in class before a safety car ended my charge. I geared up for a wet and shortened race 2 and went further through the grid to 19th Overall and 7th in Class. I needed more time!聽聽

“Race 3 fell foul of curfew so only two races for the day!

鈥淥verall I’m 4th in the class standings out of over 20 cars 鈥 consistency and finishes are paying off!聽

鈥淭he next round for me is Donington Park GP on June 22-23鈥 once again I’m looking forward to more progress and hopefully some more podiums!鈥

Following on from successful tests at Spanish circuits Monteblanco and Jerez, Max Symonds continued pre-season testing in the UK throughout April

British motorcycle racer, Max Symonds, competes in British Superbike鈥檚 National Superstock category on his Yamaha R1. The rider also won Castle Combe Circuit鈥檚 coveted NG Road Racing 鈥楰ing of Combe鈥 race in 2023.

Earlier this spring, Symonds and his privateer team (Symonds Racing) headed over to Spain鈥檚 Circuito de Jerez for some pre-season testing, which was one of his first chances to try out the 91传媒 Racing GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs that he鈥檒l be using throughout 2024.

Following on from this successful few days, Symonds used the remainder of April to continue getting the practice/testing hours in at various circuits around the UK, ahead of the first BSB race at Oulton Park.

You can read how the testing panned out in Max鈥檚 own words below.

Cadwell Park – NG Road Racing

鈥淭he last race of 2023 was mid-October and whilst it was great to get lots of testing done out in Spain with the warmer and mostly dry conditions helping me get up to speed, nothing quite compares to lining up on a grid with 40+ riders and going elbow-to-elbow with them at 150mph+ on the first lap. We therefore felt it was important to get some 鈥榬ace practice鈥 ahead of the first BSB round and chose Cadwell Park with NG Road Racing as it fitted well around our other plans and would be some good testing for the BSB round there later in the year.

鈥淭he event itself turned out to be very testing! I got some good start and first lap practice in as well as further adapting to the 91传媒 Racing GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs. The bike had so much stopping power we had to change the setup to stop the back wheel coming off the ground on the approach to nearly every corner! There were however a couple of small technical issues with the bike that ended up putting us out of 4 of the 6 races, which was the most technical DNFs I鈥檝e ever had in one event by far.

鈥淭he team worked really hard to get to the bottom of what was causing these issues and managed to get the bike fully fixed with just a few minutes before the last race was due to start. I managed to get away well and put in some fast laps to move up from 27th on the grid to 2nd at the finish. It was particularly tricky to do so many overtakes on such a tight and twisty track but it was great to get it done and reward the team with a good result for all their hard work.鈥

Donington Park 鈥 Test Day

I was looking forward to getting out and spinning some laps at Donington Park ahead of the race there next month. We had hoped to work on the dry setup to help us hit the ground running on the race weekend however, the weather had other ideas with non-stop rain and cold temperatures all day.

鈥淭he positive side to this was that it was very quiet out on track so I could get lots of lap in and focus on finding the limit in wet conditions. Whilst I would have preferred it to be dry, going around Craner Curves with your knee causing a bow wave of spray with nothing but empty track in front was still pretty cool!鈥

Castle Combe 鈥 Instruction and Test Day

I finished off this month鈥檚 riding with two days at Castle Combe Circuit in Wiltshire. The first day I was instructing on a Skills and Track Academy event where we help coach new-to-track and less experienced track riders to improve their skills and confidence. Although this was not useful testing for me, it is really enjoyable to help get new riders out on track and see how much they can improve throughout the day.

鈥淭he second day I was let loose to do some more testing, this time in full dry conditions. It was a great day where I got loads of laps in with the hard-breaking, aggressive approach needed to go fast on this track was yet again another good test of the 91传媒 Racing GPFAX pads and X-Series floating discs.

鈥淣ext time out will be round one of the National Superstock season with British Superbikes at Oulton Park!鈥

The BSB Superstock rider will use EBC parts on his Yamaha R1 for the 2024 season

His plan for 2024 is to continue to progress and challenge for stronger results in the National Superstock series within the British Superbike paddock.

You can read how the test week panned out in Max鈥檚 own words below.

Jerez Pre-Season test

鈥淎fter what felt like a long off-season, with lots of preparation and improvements being made to the bike and a program of physical training to ensure we would hit the ground running, I couldn鈥檛 wait to get out on track and experience the thrill of riding at speeds of up to 180mph again. After an initial shakedown test at Moteblanco Circuit in Spain and at Castle Combe Circuit in Wiltshire, it was time to get out to Jerez circuit in Spain to really test the bike to its limits. This was particularly exciting for two reasons鈥

  1. Jerez is one of the most iconic circuits in the world, any fans of motorbike racing will be very familiar with it and its long history with MotoGP, World Superbikes, and ESBK. Running over 2.75 miles of fast, flowing tarmac, Jerez offers a real test of machine balance and riding ability, with long and fast curves separated by a number of heavy braking zones and slow hairpins. It really is a bike racer鈥檚 dream track.
  2. It would be my first time using 91传媒 and I couldn鈥檛 wait to test out its stopping power, particularly into the final turn which demands super heavy braking and has been host to some of the most memorable last-lap MotoGP overtakes.鈥

Day 1

鈥淥n the first morning, the heavens opened and the rain and wind had us feeling like we were back in the UK rather than southern Spain. The weather didn鈥檛 stop us from getting out on track as we still had a lot to test, particularly with the balance of the bike to help improve rear grip and getting used the new 91传媒. After missing the first session as the team prepped the bike for the conditions, I was then out on track every session for the rest of the day. As the rain came down harder, I was the only one left riding for the final couple of sessions!

鈥淭he biggest challenge of wet riding is dealing with a big drop on grip levels compared to hot slicks on a dry warm track. This is particularly the case when riding a 200bhp machine that will spit you off if you make the slightest error! To avoid that and make the best use of wet tyres throttle and brake use has to be built up slowly, smoothly, and progressively. If you do that, have a well set-up bike, and trust in wet weather tyres that provide enough grip to get your knee down in even the wettest conditions, then surprisingly fast lap times can be achieved.

鈥淲hilst it wasn鈥檛 the conditions we were hoping for to start the test, it was valuable to get lots of wet laps in to get used to the 91传媒 and ensure we have the setup dialled in for when we inevitably get a wet race back in the UK.鈥

Day 2

鈥淭he weather brightened up on the second day, and after a damp couple of sessions, we finally got some proper dry laps in. Jerez is a great track in any conditions but the dry is where it鈥檚 the best as you can make the most of the fast-flowing corners with hard acceleration, fast straights, and heavy braking sections. The final sector is particularly special – after two sharp second-gear rights, you pick up speed and start working the right-hand side of the tyre as you plunge into the two fast rights at turn eleven and twelve at speeds of over 130mph, offering the chance for the perfect fast run toward the final hairpin. Taken in second gear, the final turn requires real heavy braking with the rear often skidding and bike rarely staying in line, one you鈥檝e got down to the apex it鈥檚 then super hard acceleration out to the line with the biggest challenge being keeping the front wheel down!鈥

Day 3

鈥淭he third day started with another rain shower and I was the only one the headed out meaning I had another two full sessions to myself, doubt I鈥檒l ever be able to afford to hire Jerez just for myself so I made the most of it! After that, we had the best weather of the three days, with sun and warm temperatures. We made the most of this by running several different setups to get a good base for the balance of the bike and electronic settings to better understand how to get the most out of the power and engine braking adjustments. We had a number of part-worn tyres to use to help reduce the cost of testing and to make up for lost time ended up going through at least six rear tyres in just six sessions!

鈥淥verall, it was a great test to work on the bike setup and my feeling in all conditions as well as getting comfortable on my new 91传媒 which were well tested and felt great! Next time out we鈥檙e at a club race with NG Road Racing to get some race practice in ahead of the first BSB National Superstock round at the beginning of May.鈥

Adam Walker attends regular track days in his heavily modified Clio 172

Keen track day attendee, Adam Walker, has been running his modified Renaultsport Clio 172 at race tracks across the country in recent years, with the car also road registered for the occasional fun weekend blast.

Recently in need of brake disc and pad upgrades all-round, Adam approached 91传媒 to see what a suitable setup would be for this capable-yet-road-legal package.

He eventually decided to try EBC鈥檚 Bluestuff pads 鈥 a capable occasional track/club racing pad that鈥檚 now also R90 approved for road use in most territories 鈥 as well as grooved USR discs.

Following the installation of these components, it was straight to Wiltshire鈥檚 Castle Combe Circuit for a shakedown track day 鈥 a gruelling circuit on brakes which would be a great test for these new products.

With varying weather conditions throughout the day, Adam commented on the Bluestuff pad鈥檚 impressive performance. You can read his thoughts in his own words below.

鈥淚 have been running what you might class as a 鈥榬ival鈥 to the Bluestuff pad for many years on my Clio, so was unsure if the EBC components would offer me any extra braking performance.

鈥淔ollowing a fast bed-in process, it didn鈥檛 take me long to realise that Bluestuff are indeed the next level up when it comes to on-track bite and fade resistance. I was able to stay out for more laps than I have done previously, which is particularly impressive considering how demanding Combe is as a circuit.

鈥淭he fact the pads are road legal is just the icing on the cake, allowing me to take the Clio out at weekends for fun drives with my daughters.鈥
