The EBC-equipped driver competes in the Caterham Seven Championship UK

British Caterham racer, Carl Jones, is undertaking another season in the top-tier Caterham Seven Championship UK in his 420R-badged machine.

At the start of 2023, Jones reached out to 91传媒 Racing for some upgraded stopping power, proceeding to use RP-X鈩 motorsport brake pads on the front axle, and Bluestuff NDX brake pads on the rear 鈥 a combination he has continued to use to this day.

Following multiple podiums across 2025, we caught up with Jones fresh off the back of his first 2026 round at Silverstone, where a DNF in Race 1 was pivoted into spectacular victory in the second outing of the weekend.

Read how the weekend panned out below in his own words鈥

鈥淲hat a weekend of contrasts at Silverstone. From the frustration of a last-lap mechanical failure whilst running strongly in Race 1, to fighting through the entire field in treacherous wet conditions to take Race 2 victory 鈥 including the fastest lap of the race. A weekend that truly tested every aspect of our package, and one I am incredibly proud of.鈥

Qualifying – 6th

鈥淎 solid start to the weekend, securing P6 overall and placing us firmly within contention for the race ahead. The lap gave us strong confidence in the car’s balance heading into Race 1.鈥

Race 1 – DNF

鈥淩ace 1 was a genuine disappointment, though not without significant positives. From sixth on the grid, we quickly moved to the front and led the race for over half the distance 鈥 demonstrating real pace and racecraft. A potential podium, and possibly P2, was very much within our grasp. Heartbreakingly, a mechanical failure on the final lap brought our race to a premature end. The pace shown throughout was hugely encouraging and the team’s work all weekend was commendable.鈥

Race 2聽– P1 Victory + Fastest Lap

鈥淩ace 2 will be one to remember. Starting from the back of the 420R grid on a fully saturated track, and running on tyres I had never used in wet conditions before, the challenge was clear. Rather than letting the uncertainty affect our approach, we stayed focused, built a strong rhythm from the opening laps, and began working our way methodically through the field. The wet conditions demanded complete concentration, and the car responded superbly. We overtook competitor after competitor, ultimately crossing the line in first place 鈥 with the fastest lap of the race to our name. A hard-fought, fully deserved victory.鈥

Looking Ahead

鈥淭his weekend has given us great momentum. The speed is clearly there, and so is the ability to perform under pressure in difficult conditions. We will review the Race 1 mechanical failure thoroughly to ensure it cannot be repeated, and we head to the next round with confidence and determination.

鈥淎 huge and heartfelt thank you to every one of our sponsors 鈥 your continued support is what makes weekends like this possible. We are proud to represent you on track and look forward to doing so again at Snetterton.鈥

Following a sensational 2024 season, with multiple accolades earned, we caught up with Jones towards the end of his 2025 campaign, fresh from the Oulton Park round, which proved to be another success story.

Read how the weekend panned out below in his own words鈥

鈥淚’m very pleased to say I held the EBC flag high at the weekend, with most of my competitors asking 鈥榟ow the hell do I brake so late?!鈥

鈥淲e conducted a test day with the car and my long-term coach, Ben Clucas (also from Northampton) last week and found myself with a massive mountain to climb, being some 5.5 seconds off the lap time!

鈥淏y the end of a gruelling day, we got within 0.5 seconds of a decent lap time but I remained optimistic whether I could transfer that to race weekend. Well, the great news was, after subjecting myself to a couple of months of a strict fitness campaign and getting my car set up as best we could, it paid dividends with a hard-fought weekend.

鈥淲ith just the Saturday at Oulton, Qualifying and 3 races in the Caterham 420R demanded all the fitness and endurance you could lay your hands on and fortunately, I felt good as did the car. Qualifying didn’t deliver any great results and my strategy didn’t work either, placing me down the grid in 9th for race one.鈥

Race 1

鈥淎 great start off the line saw me up into 7th by turn one, but a car off at the same turn lap one initiated a re-start and a grid re-shuffle which didn’t play out good for me. Turn one again and I made up 3 places and on the back of the leading pack. The tyres coming up to temperature by lap 3 and the EBC brakes doing their magical stuff and me feeling good, I managed to start pushing through the pack and closing up to the leaders.

鈥淎 couple of the leading pack cars making some mistakes saw me take the advantage and pushing right to the chequered flag rewarded me with a 6th overall and a class podium, seeing me 3rd in class.鈥

Race 2

鈥淥nly and hour and a half after the first race saw us lining up again for our second race of the day. A few tweaks to the setup and a new set of EBC RP-X鈩 front pads and we were ready. Another great start off the line saw me right on the back of the front pack again in 6th. A great battle ensued and the car and I were feeling awesome.

鈥淏y mid-race, we had made up another place into 5th and now starting to hunt down the leaders and whilst obtaining the fastest lap of the race. By the late second half of the race, a number of collisions occurred, ending the last few laps under the safety car. I was happy though, feeling great in myself and the car鈥檚 performance and together we were closing down fast on the leaders end only 0.3 seconds behind P5 though giving me a P2 in class and on the podium once again.鈥

Race 3

鈥淒irectly after lunch, we lined up once again for our final race of the day. Now in P5 off the line, I could smell a win, or at least a top-3 overall finish. Again, I was feeling good and we did nothing with the car other than a subtle tyre pressure change.

鈥淭he red lights out and we fired off the line and putting us in 4th place by turn one. Staying in 4th and eyeing up the pack in front of me for the best and most suitable passing places, I started my move on the pack. A mistake by the leader saw the pack bunch up and also that of P5 and P6 cars who were now biting at my heels.

鈥淲ith a hot pace still afoot, a number of 鈥榖rave鈥 moves by the car behind me resulted in me having to protect my lines and disturbing my efforts for an attack on the cars in front of me, so some late braking moves into some of the main points on the track saw me back on the rear of P4 and the car behind me fading into the distance.

“With everything feeling good, I started to plan my move on the race leaders in front of me until one of these cars spun out in front of us at island Bend at well over 120mph and come back on track backwards directly in front of me and the car in front of me enabling the front leading pack to escape away and the car behind me to take the advantage and put me back to P5 though coming over the line with another podium finish with 3rd in class.鈥

EBC-equipped Lower is racing in the Caterham 310R Championship

Caterham racer Charlie Lower has been using 91传媒 Racing components for many years now,聽predominantly in the 270R category聽and more recently dabbling in聽some rounds of the 420R Championship last year.

For 2025, he鈥檚 campaigning in the fiercely-fought 310R Championship, continuing to utilise RP-X鈩 race pads (front axle) and Bluestuff pads (rear axle) of his Team Perry Motorsport machine.

Following some extremely promising results in the first few rounds, not least at the most recent round at Thruxton, Lower was next found at the scenic Anglesey Circuit, where a stormy backdrop played host to more impeccable driving.

You can read how the weekend unfolded in his team鈥檚 own words below鈥

鈥淭he third round of the Caterham 310R Championship brought the grid to the stunning but brutal Anglesey Circuit in North Wales; a track known for its dramatic scenery, changing conditions, and intense technical challenge. It was a weekend of highs, heartbreak for Charlie Lower and Team Perrys Motorsport.鈥

Testing: Finding Grip in the Gusts

鈥淭esting got underway in typically Welsh weather, with strong coastal winds sweeping across the circuit. But Charlie and the team got down to business quickly, working through setup changes and finding a balance that gave him real confidence, especially under braking with his EBC brakes into the notorious Rocket complex. The signs were good heading into qualifying.鈥

Qualifying: Strategy Gamble, Solid Result

鈥淲ith strong winds and an evolving track, Charlie opted to go out late in qualifying with a clean gap to run solo. But as the conditions shifted, it became clear that a tow was critical. He made the smart call to come into the pits and rejoin at the back of the pack for one last push lap, and it paid off. Despite limited time and a tough strategy call, Charlie clocked in P4 for both Race 1 and Race 2. A strong result under the circumstances.鈥

A Setback Before the Start: Tyre Drama and Grid Penalties

鈥淯nfortunately, a fault with Charlie鈥檚 tyre logging app meant his tyres weren鈥檛 correctly registered before Race 1 鈥 a strict procedural issue that resulted in a major penalty: starting from the back of the grid in both Race 1 and Race 2, plus a 10-second time penalty in Race 1. It wasn鈥檛 how Charlie wanted to start the weekend.鈥

Race 1: Brake Late, Push Hard

鈥淲ith a mountain to climb, Charlie did what he does best: attacked. Starting dead last and carrying a time penalty, he charged through the field with relentless pace and clinical overtakes. Once again, his confidence in the 91传媒 shone through, consistently out-braking rivals into Rocket with total commitment. Despite the odds, Charlie battled up to P7.鈥

Race 2: Pure Determination and Fastest Lap

鈥淩ace 2 demanded early aggression, and Charlie delivered. Determined not to let the leaders escape, he tore through the field, overtaking聽13 drivers in just three laps, dominating the race in the early stages and once again making Rocket his personal passing zone.

鈥淗is pace was undeniable, clocking the聽fastest lap聽of the race and setting himself up for a potential victory. But with just a few laps to go, a rival attempted an over-ambitious move into Turn 1, knocking Charlie wide and down to P3. Undeterred, he came roaring back, pulling off a brave late-braking move into the uphill Rocket section to reclaim P2with fastest lap.鈥

Race 3: Tyres Fading, Spirit Strong

鈥淲ith a reverse grid putting Charlie in P5 for Race 3, he knew it was going to be a battle. Early laps were intense, with multiple drivers swapping positions in the top six. But as the race wore on, Charlie鈥檚 tyres began to drop off, leaving him without the same grip he鈥檇 relied on all weekend.

鈥淓ven so, he fought hard to defend his position, driving smart and clean to bring it home in P4.鈥

Weekend Recap

鈥淎nglesey threw plenty of challenges Charlie鈥檚 way, from penalties to on-track contact, but he turned it into a weekend of real progress. With two standout drives from the back of the grid, a fastest lap, and a return to the podium, Charlie showed just how much he鈥檚 grown in the 310R Championship. Backed by Team Perry Motorsport and confident in the brakes thanks to EBC, the momentum is building.鈥

For 2025, he鈥檚 campaigning in the fiercely-fought 310R Championship, continuing to utilise RP-X鈩 race pads (front axle) and Bluestuff pads (rear axle) of his Team Perry Motorsport machine.

After a successful first round at Snetterton, Lower was back for the second leg at Thruxton, where more podiums were secured in another successful weekend鈥檚 racing.

You can read how the weekend unfolded in his team鈥檚 own words below鈥

This weekend, the fastest circuit in the UK, Thruxton, played host to the second round of the Caterham 310R Championship, and it delivered high-speed chaos, drama, and brilliance in equal measure. For Charlie Lower and Team Perry Motorsport, it was a weekend to remember, filled with bold moves, breakout performances, and hard-earned podiums.鈥

Qualifying: A Tactical Approach Pays Off

鈥淗eading into qualifying, Charlie made the smart call to keep track time to a minimum. With Thruxton’s abrasive surface chewing through rubber, he kept his cool and executed just three push laps, and that was all he needed. Charlie secured P5 for Race 1 and an even stronger P4 for Race 2. A confident and calculated start to the weekend.鈥

Race 1: Brave on the Brakes, First Podium Secured

鈥淩ace 1 was a classic Thruxton scrap: drivers constantly swapping positions, with barely a tenth separating them in the slipstream battles. But Charlie showed he wasn鈥檛 just there to follow. With supreme confidence and pinpoint braking on his EBC brakes, he pulled off the move of the weekend. going later and harder into the corner to sweep past his competitors and snatch the lead.

鈥淚t was a gutsy move that turned heads. With more wheel-to-wheel action to follow, Charlie fought hard for the rest of the race, ultimately crossing the line in P3 鈥 his first podium of the weekend.鈥

Race 2: Grit, Control, and a Tough Blow

鈥淩ace 2 was always going to be tougher. The aggression levels rose, and several drivers pushed the limits and in some cases, crossed them. Charlie had to call on his racecraft and awareness more than ever, avoiding dangerous moves and taking evasive action through the chicane multiple times to protect both himself and his competitors.

鈥淗e crossed the finish line in an impressive P2, but the result was later stripped after a protest over one of the chicane cuts, judged to have offered an advantage. A frustrating outcome that left Charlie classified P6, but it didn’t dull the fire heading into the final race.鈥

Race 3: Raw Talent on Full Display

鈥淲ith the reverse grid format putting Charlie in P3 for the start of Race 3, it was time to attack. From the lights out, he showed blistering pace, out-braking his rivals and charging toward the front. For a time, it looked like victory was in his grasp.

鈥淏ut motorsport can be cruel. Contact from another driver forced part of Charlie鈥檚 wheel arch into his tyre, sapping speed and putting him on the defensive. Despite the damage, he held off faster cars to secure another hard-fought P3 finish and his second weekend podium.鈥

Final Thoughts: Momentum Builds

鈥淭hruxton tested everything: pace, patience, bravery, and resilience, and Charlie Lower rose to the occasion. With two podiums, a race lead, and more valuable championship points, this weekend was a breakthrough.

鈥淭eam Perry Motorsport continues to give Charlie the tools to shine, and as the season moves forward, it鈥檚 clear he鈥檚 becoming a real force in the 310R Championship.

鈥淣ext stop: Anglesey, and Charlie is more ready than ever.鈥

EBC-equipped Lower is racing in the Caterham 310R Championship

Caterham racer Charlie Lower has been using 91传媒 Racing components for many years now, predominantly in the 270R category and more recently dabbling in some rounds of the 420R Championship last year.

For 2025, he鈥檚 campaigning in the fiercely-fought 310R Championship, continuing to utilise RP-X鈩 race pads (front axle) and Bluestuff pads (rear axle) of his Team Perry Motorsport machine.

You can read how the first round went at Snetterton in his team鈥檚 own words below鈥

鈥淭he 2025 Caterham 310R Championship kicked off in sunshine at Snetterton, with Charlie Lower making his debut in the Caterham 310R category and his return to Team Perry Motorsport. With a mix of learning, fighting drives, and breakthrough results, Charlie wasted no time proving he鈥檚 a serious contender in this year’s title race.鈥

Thursday & Friday 鈥 Finding Pace and Confidence

鈥淐harlie hit the track on Thursday for pre-event testing, using the day to get up to speed with the 310R machinery and dial in a setup that suited his style. Each session brought gains, and by the end of the day, Charlie was feeling confident, particularly with the performance of his 91传媒, which gave him the stopping power to push deeper into corners.

鈥淔riday’s test sessions continued to build momentum, with Charlie putting in competitive lap times even on worn tyres, setting the stage for an exciting weekend ahead.鈥

Saturday 鈥 Tricky Qualifying, Strong Recovery in Race 1

鈥淪aturday brought the first real test: qualifying under a new two time format to determine grid positions for races 1 and 2. The session quickly became chaotic, with drivers reluctant to return the tow leaving Charlie unable to string together a clean lap at full pace. Despite the setback, he managed P7 for Race 1 and P4 for Race 2.

鈥淚n Race 1, Charlie was determined to stay clear of first-lap drama and he did just that. Making a clean getaway and navigating through the pack, he was up to P4 by the end of lap one, consistently making moves under braking thanks to the confidence his EBC setup gave him. After a thrilling battle to the line, he narrowly missed out on P4 by just 0.07 seconds, finishing a strong P5.鈥

Sunday 鈥 Breakthrough Performances

鈥淎head of Sunday鈥檚 races, the TPM mechanics discovered a few underlying issues with the car that had been holding Charlie back on Saturday. With those addressed, the car was finally performing at its full potential and so was Charlie.

鈥淚n Race 2, he launched off the line and immediately made ground, finding himself in P2 by turn two. It was a tense, hard-fought race from there, but Charlie showcased both pace and racecraft to finish P3 on the road, later promoted to P2 after a track limits penalty for a rival ahead.

鈥淭he final race featured a partial reverse grid, placing Charlie in P9. But once again, he nailed the start and pulled off a stunning move around the outside at turn one, jumping straight up to P2. In what became a race-long fight, he battled hard with some of the top drivers in the field and came home with his second podium of the weekend, finishing P3.鈥

Championship Intentions Set

鈥淲ith two podiums, a haul of points, and serious pace shown across all conditions, Charlie and Team Perry Motorsport leave Snetterton full of confidence. The combination is already looking like one to watch in this year鈥檚 310R championship, and with more seat time and momentum on their side, they鈥檒l be gunning for even more at the next round.鈥

Charlie Lower uses RP-X鈩 and Bluestuff pads in the Caterham 420R Championship

Race driver Charlie Lower competed in the Caterham Seven 270R Championship聽, with countless podiums and race wins to his name.

For 2024, he has stepped out of his 270R race car and into a ferocious Caterham 420R as he campaigned in the Caterham 420R Championship 鈥 a move which has proven extremely successful so far.

Lower recently took a break from his new series to return for a guest round of the Caterham Seven 270R Championship at Donington Park, where he unsurprisingly excelled across the weekend.

Both Lower’s cars are proudly equipped with 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 RP-X鈩 (front) and 91传媒鈥 Bluestuff NDX (rear) brake pads.

Read how it all panned out in his team鈥檚 own words below鈥

鈥淚n an exciting return to the Caterham 270R Championship, Charlie Lower represented TPM in the final round at Donington Park, facing one of the largest grids of the season. After finishing as the championship runner-up last year, Charlie rejoined the series for its thrilling climax, with TPM and 91传媒 backing him. The task wasn鈥檛 without its challenges, however, as Charlie also had to navigate a new tyre compound and shifting weather conditions at Donington.鈥

Thursday 鈥 Dialling in the Setup

鈥淐harlie鈥檚 weekend kicked off with testing on Thursday; an intense day spent adapting to ever-changing conditions. With variable track temperatures and evolving weather patterns, finding the perfect setup required patience and skill. However, he felt confident with the reliability and stopping power of his 91传媒, which proved indispensable. Through a mix of trial, adjustment, and perseverance, Charlie found a competitive dry setup, surpassing last year鈥檚 fastest laps. This impressive performance demonstrated his adaptability and skill right from the start.鈥

Friday 鈥 Troubleshooting and Recovery

鈥淔riday鈥檚 testing was unexpectedly challenging. Charlie took to the track in the morning session, but the car was plagued by performance issues, keeping him from achieving Thursday鈥檚 times. Unfortunately, this limited his time testing in the wet鈥攁 crucial setback given the forecasted conditions. However, towards the end of the day, Charlie and his team identified the source of the problem, allowing him to complete a few critical laps to test the setup in preparation for qualifying.鈥

Qualifying 鈥 A Gamble in the Wet Pays Off

鈥淒espite Friday鈥檚 issues, Charlie and his mechanic took a calculated risk with the setup in Saturday鈥檚 wet qualifying session. Trusting his intuition and the proven performance of his brakes, he pushed hard and ultimately set a blistering pace, securing pole position by a margin of 0.35 seconds. This result underlined his confidence in wet conditions and trust in his car, proving that he was more than ready to take on the weekend鈥檚 races.鈥

Race 1 鈥 Dominant from the Start

鈥淚n Race 1, Charlie got off to a fantastic start, pulling ahead of the pack with ease. A crash further down the grid initially halted his momentum as the field was re-gridded. But true to his form, Charlie remained calm and took control once the race restarted. Setting consistent lap times and demonstrating expert control, especially at the braking points, he cruised to victory with a 3.322-second gap, taking his first win of the weekend.鈥

Race 2 鈥 Mastering the Elements

鈥淭he weather took a turn for the worse in Race 2, with the track now fully soaked. Charlie stayed composed, navigating early battles with other front-runners in challenging conditions. His smooth driving and strategic pacing allowed him to break away from the pack, ultimately securing a second victory with a 1.184-second lead. The result underscored his exceptional skill and adaptability, marking two wins out of two and setting him up for a clean sweep.鈥

Race 3 鈥 High Hopes Cut Short

鈥淐harlie entered Race 3 determined to finish the weekend on a high note and secure a hat-trick of wins. He pushed hard from the outset, engaging in fierce battles with the front-runners. However, an unfortunate incident unfolded as a driver ahead missed a gear, triggering a chain reaction. With little room to manoeuvre, Charlie took to the grass, resulting in a jarring impact that left him unable to continue the race. The hard landing affected his coccyx, causing numbness in his legs, and forcing him to retire with a DNF. Fortunately, initial assessments indicated no lasting injury, although the impact was a disappointing end to an otherwise outstanding weekend.鈥

Weekend Summary

鈥淥verall, Charlie Lower鈥檚 return to the Caterham 270R Championship was an impressive display of skill and adaptability. Despite the challenges of unfamiliar tyres, shifting conditions, and limited testing time, he managed two emphatic race wins and a pole position. TPM and 91传媒 will surely be proud of his performance and the strength he displayed, proving he鈥檚 a driver capable of adapting to any car and conditions.鈥

鈥溾楢fter Thursday we bolted on some brand new 91传媒 and instantly improved the pedal feel as well as the bite on the brakes. Gave me loads of confidence in all the dry heavy braking zone as well as the wet with a small tweak of the bike bias.鈥 –聽Charlie Lower鈥

鈥淲here do I begin?! What a year and, as in all motorsports I suppose, a lot of highs and lows, but generally a very聽successful and most certainly a very聽consistent racing year in the official Caterham British Championship.

鈥淲ith a number of major mechanical setbacks towards the end of the season, things started to look somewhat challenging, but overall, it was brilliant.

鈥淭his is the second year now I鈥檝e used 91传媒 Racing products and I have to say, hats off to you guys, these brakes have never let me down once and have always been a consistently good quality product鈥 you even make them look good!”聽

鈥淭he performance of the Bluestuff NDX and RP-X鈩 brake pads have been awesome all year, come rain or shine and in all temperature conditions from Snetterton on a cold winter鈥檚 day to聽Barbados in 35-degree blistering heat 鈥 bloody聽amazing to be honest,聽with no聽difference in performance or聽degradation.

鈥淭o say that I鈥檓 happy with the products themselves and the superb support that you have given me over the past聽couple of years is an understatement.聽

鈥淭hanks, guys for providing me with your support once again and your聽product is a聽testament to the results I鈥檝e聽achieved this聽year.鈥

The EBC-Equipped Caterham racer once again secured great positions in the series

Race driver Charlie Lower competed in the Caterham Seven 270R Championship聽, with countless podiums and race wins to his name.

Lower recently stepped out of his 270R race car and into a ferocious Caterham 420R as he campaigns in the Caterham 420R Championship for 2024. He continues to entrust 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 RP-X鈩 (front) and 91传媒鈥 Bluestuff NDX (rear) brake pads for this season.

Following great successes in the first round at Derbyshire鈥檚 Donington Park a few months back, Lower next headed to Cheshire鈥檚 Oulton Park Circuit for the next round on the calendar.

You can find out how it all unfolded in his team鈥檚 own words below鈥

Friday: A Challenging Start

鈥淔ollowing his impressive showing at Donington GP, Charlie Lower headed to Oulton Park for the next round of the 420R Caterham Championship, joining the iconic British Touring Car weekend. The competition was fierce, featuring one of the toughest grids in the championship. With a new engine that tightens when hot, causing a loss of top speed, Charlie knew he would have to rely heavily on his race craft to maintain his positions.

鈥淔riday’s practice sessions presented a steep learning curve with a new track layout. In the first 45-minute session, Charlie began cautiously, gradually increasing his pace. Unfortunately, while pushing around the fastest part of the track, he lost control and ended up on the grass, hitting a massive bump that sent him into the wall. It was a tough moment, but the team at LFP and Dan from Hardline quickly assessed the damage. Luckily, only the radiator and a steering arm were broken, allowing them to get the car ready for the next session.

鈥淗owever, Charlie’s luck did not improve in the second session. Despite getting back up to speed, a mechanical failure with the clutch curtailed his track time, leaving him with just 20 laps of experience going into the race weekend.鈥

Saturday: Battling Through Adversity

鈥淲ith minimal testing, Charlie headed straight into Saturday鈥檚 qualifying session, hoping the setup was right and driving on brand new slicks for the first time at Oulton Park. Despite being impeded by other drivers on his best lap, he managed to qualify 14th out of 21 overall and 8th in the Pro-AM class 鈥 a commendable result given the circumstances.鈥

Race 1: Holding Steady

鈥淚n Race 1, Charlie had a great start, gaining several positions off the line. He expertly navigated through the chaos as four drivers were involved in DNFs around him. As the race progressed, his car started to overheat, affecting his pace. Despite this, Charlie showcased his defensive skills, managing to hold his position and finishing P13 overall and P8 in class.鈥

Race 2: Fighting with Bravery

鈥淩ace 2 saw Charlie struggling with the car鈥檚 pace, but he compensated by making decisive overtakes under braking, a component of the car he felt confident in. This strategy allowed him to gain several positions, finishing P11 overall and P7 in class. Mid-race, Charlie had contact with another driver who lost control, causing Charlie to ride over his wheel and land hard. Despite this, he was able to continue and finish the race.鈥

Race 3: Strategic Adjustments Pay Off

鈥淔or Race 3, Charlie and the team took a risk by adjusting the car’s setup, lowering the rear end to improve drive out of corners, compensating for the lack of top speed. This decision paid off, as Charlie had a strong race, engaging in competitive battles and finishing P9 overall and P5 in class 鈥 a remarkable achievement considering the weekend鈥檚 early setbacks.鈥

鈥淐harlie Lower鈥檚 performance at Oulton Park underscored his resilience, adaptability, and race craft. Despite facing numerous challenges, from mechanical issues to on-track incidents, he maintained a cool head and delivered impressive results. His ability to overcome adversity and perform at a high level against seasoned competitors is a testament to his talent and determination. The team is extremely proud of Charlie鈥檚 achievements in these two guest rounds and looks forward to seeing him in more races in the future.鈥

Charlie Lower has graduated up to this fast-paced Caterham race league for 2024

Race driver Charlie Lower competed in the Caterham Seven 270R Championship聽, with countless podiums and race wins to his name.

Lower recently stepped out of his 270R race car and into a ferocious Caterham 420R as he campaigns in the Caterham 420R Championship for 2024. He will continue to entrust 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 RP-X鈩 (front) and 91传媒鈥 Bluestuff NDX (rear) brake pads for this season.

The first round at Derbyshire鈥檚 Donington Park was a huge success for Lower and his team, as you can read about in the team鈥檚 own words below鈥

Thursday: A Promising Start

鈥淭he British GT race weekend at Donington Park GP marked a significant milestone for Charlie Lower, as he took on the challenge of competing in the 420R Caterham Championship. Despite only having driven a 420R race car once before at a touring car weekend, which was cut short due to red flags, Charlie was eager to prove himself against a formidable grid of seasoned racers from various motorsport backgrounds, including the Clio Cup and Porsche Carrera Cup.

鈥淭hrown into the deep end on Thursday, Charlie began testing, working to understand the car and its slicks while finding the right setup. Impressively, he managed to set lap times just 0.7 of a tenth slower on old tyres compared to drivers on new tyres, indicating a promising start with his pace.鈥

Friday: A Setback and a Comeback

鈥淗owever, Friday鈥檚 testing session didn鈥檛 go as smoothly. Charlie had an incident that resulted in a cracked sump and a broken engine, cutting his testing short. The team from Hardline and the mechanics from LFP sprang into action, working tirelessly to get the engine back together. Their dedication paid off, but the engine wasn’t ready until late Friday, leaving Charlie with minimal testing time.鈥

Saturday: Overcoming Challenges in Qualifying

鈥淲ith minimal track time, Charlie headed into Saturday鈥檚 qualifying session, hoping that the setup was right and that he could adapt quickly to the brand-new slicks at Donington Park. Despite these challenges, he delivered a commendable performance, qualifying 8th out of 21 overall and 7th in the Pro-AM class, just one spot shy of qualifying for Superpole.鈥

Race 1: Navigating the Chaos

鈥淩ace 1 saw Charlie finding his footing amidst a completely new grid. A less-than-ideal start saw him lose a few positions off the line. However, Charlie wisely chose to stay out of trouble, navigating through the chaos as seven drivers were involved in DNFs around him. By keeping his nose clean, he achieved a solid result, finishing P7 overall and P6 in class.鈥

Race 2: Mastering the Wet Conditions

鈥淭he weather took a drastic turn for Race 2, presenting Charlie with the challenge of racing in wet conditions which he had never tested in at this circuit. Despite this, Charlie had a better start and held his position, eventually fighting his way up to the podium positions. Demonstrating exceptional car control and trust in his EBC brakes, he climbed to P2. As the track began to dry rapidly, two drivers on slicks managed to overtake him, but Charlie still secured a remarkable P4 overall and P3 in class, marking his first 420R podium in only his second outing in the car.鈥

Race 3: A Battle and a Setback

鈥淒etermined to achieve another podium, Charlie had a strong start in Race 3, quickly reaching the top three. However, just eight minutes into the race, another driver made an overly optimistic move, pushing Charlie off the track and dropping him to P15. Undeterred, Charlie fought back valiantly, climbing up to finish P10.鈥

鈥淐harlie Lower鈥檚 performance at Donington Park showcased his adaptability, skill, and determination. Competing against a highly experienced field, he proved he could keep up and excel, particularly in challenging conditions. His achievements over the weekend, including a podium finish in Race 2, highlight his potential and promise for the future. As the team looks forward to the next round at Oulton Park next month, they do so with immense pride and anticipation for what Charlie can achieve.鈥
