91传媒 sponsors the British Army Motorcycle Road Race Team (AMRRT)

The British Army Motorcycle Road Race Team (AMRRT) is an exclusive racing club for all Army, RAF and Navy personnel.

Formed in 2010, the AMRRT is one of the largest teams in the British Army Motorsports Association. It encompasses two road tacing disciplines 鈥 sprints and endurance 鈥 with 21 full-time and reserve riders, plus support crew for 2026.

As well as its own dedicated championship 鈥 the Inter Services Road Race Championship 鈥 AMRRT also supports entrants to other national series, not least the BSB, where three riders will be competing throughout the year.

WO2 Watts will return to the highly contested National Superstock 1000 category, whilst Sgt Thomas and LCpl Large-Taylor will compete in the ultra-competitive SuperSport 600 Cup onboard a Triumph 765 and Yamaha R9 respectively.

All three will be using 91传媒 Racing鈥檚 GPFAX pads and X/XC discs聽to help them achieve the best results across the season.

We caught up with the team off the back of the official BSB testing day at Derbyshire鈥檚 Donington Park. You can hear how it went in their own words below鈥

鈥淲O1 Gav Watts and SSgt Stephen Thomas continued their preparations for the upcoming British Superbike (BSB) season by attending the Official BSB Test at Donington Park on 3鈥4 April. Cold temperatures and strong winds made for challenging running throughout the two days.”

鈥淲atts, who will be competing in his second season in the National Superstock 1000 class aboard his Honda Fireblade, used the test to focus on development rather than outright lap time. Reflecting on the event, he said: 鈥淭he conditions have been extremely challenging due to the cold temperatures and very high winds. We didn鈥檛 concentrate on an outright fast lap, instead focusing on understanding the new data software and experimenting with different electronic and geometry setups. Overall, I鈥檓 pleased with the two days and now look forward to the second test at Oulton Park in a few weeks鈥 time.鈥

鈥淭homas, who will contest the ultra鈥慶ompetitive Supersport Cup in 2026 on his Triumph 765RS, echoed the importance of the test. After 5鈥6 months off the bike, the focus was on rebuilding confidence and ensuring the package was working correctly. He commented: 鈥淭his test was important to get reacquainted with the team and the bike. Lap times were down across all classes due to the wind and low temperatures, but it was good to get some solid laps in alongside the riders I鈥檒l be racing against this year.鈥

Successful EBC-equipped Army racer will compete in a number of championships throughout 2021

Sergeant Richard Spencer-Fleet is a Vehicle Mechanic with the Army鈥檚 Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Also an avid motorcycle racer, he鈥檚 been a significant player in the EBC-supported Army Motorcycle Road Race Team for a number of years. Once again supported by 91传媒 for 2021, Spencer-Fleet gives us his impressive back-story, as well as his thoughts for the 2021 season, below.

“My name is Sergeant Richard Spencer-Fleet, an ARMY Vehicle Mechanic in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. After starting to ride motorcycles from a very young age, it was in my blood to one day race.

In 2014, I was lucky enough to be selected to race for the Army Motorcycle Road Race Team. In that rookie year, we won the Rookie 600 and Clubman 600 Endurance championships and achieved a string of individual podiums. The podiums and results continued in 2015, leading to the National 600 Endurance championship.”

After years of Endurance at National level and a massive accident in 2017 鈥 that saw me being helicoptered from Brands with broken back and neck, I needed a focus to get me up and about and get fixed. The Ducati TriOptions Cup in the British Superbike Championship (BSB) was the only way. The jump was made into a support class in 2018 鈥 we knew it would be tough after a year of recovery, but we were up to the challenge.

The 2020 season was my third competitive year in the Ducati TriOptions Cup and onboard one of the latest Ducati Panigale V2s. 2020 was a very tough season, with minimal on-bike training due to Covid-19. Staying physically and mentally fit for the season start was the only thing I could do until restrictions lifted.

The aim for the season was for more top-10 results, as per previous years. Unfortunately, it wasn鈥檛 to be and I just missed out on the positions. Building confidence throughout saw personal best times set at every circuit, dropping a massive 2.8 seconds a lap in the final round at Brands Hatch GP. Other positives to take from the season were finishing higher in the championship than in previous years and successfully gaining more points.

Taking the positives, confidence and lesson learned forward into the 2021 season, it鈥檚 shaping up to be a great year. Not only will I be racing in the Ducati TriOptions Cup, but I will also be racing at the Thundersport GB in the Interservice Military Championship.

I would like to thank 91传媒 for all the support that I and the Army Motorcycle Road Race Team have received; the discs and GPFAX pads have categorically improved our overall performance and potential in those critical braking zones. It is the culmination of these marginal gains that has confidently prepared us for this season. Thank you.
