Privateer Moranz defied the odds to brush shoulders with the pro front-runners

Kansas-based Monster Energy Supercross motorcycle racer, Kevin Moranz, recently confirmed he will be partnering up with 91´«Ã½ for another year, proudly continuing to use the firm’s Double-H brake pads and 280mm OSX rotors on his 450cc KTM.

Now a couple of rounds into the season, we caught up with Moranz as he competed in the Seattle leg of the series, held at Lumen Field stadium.

Here, Moranz pulled out all the stops to secure the Holeshot of the main race and ensure he created some waves as a result. Read how the weekend went down in his own words below.

“It was my biggest night of the season so far! We pulled the Holeshot in the Heat Race, which we have never done before. We were out front early which was huge and held onto a transfer position to finish 8th and get another direct transfer.

“Come the Main Event, we pulled the Holeshot here too, which is unheard of as a privateer! We were up against bikes I couldn’t even get my hands on if I had all the money in the world as they all have special equipment, and we beat all of them into the first turn on a stock bike.

“To make it even better, we held onto the lead to cross the finish line of the first lap at the front. After this, we ended up getting caught in some tough blocks/track markers, sending us back to last quickly. We re-grouped and picked a couple of people off at the end to finish P20 on the night.

“Maybe not the result on paper that we wanted, but we shook the whole moto industry with that start at the beginning of our race. We’re really starting to open some eyes…â€

Austin Cozadd and Hunter Cross showed promise in California round of the series

TPJ Racing is an outfit dedicated to helping professional motorcycle racing athletes compete at the highest level by providing them with sponsors and support during both the AMA Supercross Championship and the Monster Energy Supercross Championship.

The team is currently supporting two EBC-equipped riders who are taking part in the 2023 Monster Energy Supercross Championship – both Austin Cozadd and Hunter Cross.

Cozadd will continue competing in the premier 450SX class, while Cross makes his debut in the rookie 250SX West class. Both riders will proudly be using 91´«Ã½â€™ MXS-Series motocross racing brake pads and Oversized OSX rotors on their supercross bikes.

Both riders recently competed in the first round of the year, held at the iconic Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California. You can read how Hunter Cross got on in TPJ Racing’s words below.

Hunter Cross #702

“Hunter started his rookie season off by making it into the Main Event; a huge accomplishment. He began the day by qualifying 35th out of 53 250SX West riders; securing his spot in the night show (only 40 spots available).

“Hunter struggled with a rough start in Heat 2, forcing him into the LCQ (last change qualifier) where he launched off the line mid-pack. He stayed on the gas and was sitting in 5th place for most of the race, when an unfortunate crash for another rider moved him into the final qualifying spot. Hunter held his ground and crossed the finish line in 4th.

“During the Main Event, Hunter again struggled to get to the first turn up front, but he fought hard and gave it all he had, passing multiple riders for a 19th place finish.â€

Moranz has proudly used EBC products for over five years, with great results

Kansas-based supercross motorcycle racer, Kevin Moranz, is pleased to announce he will continue to partner with 91´«Ã½ for his 2023 campaign.

The 23-year-old turned pro in 2018, spending recent years competing in the 250cc Supercross championship in the USA with solid results.

Throughout his pro career, Moranz has trusted 91´«Ã½ on his motorcycles, and will continue to run the firm’s Double-H brake pads and 280mm OSX rotors on his 450cc KTM in the 450cc Supercross series this year.

Kevin commented on the announcement in his own words below.

“I have been with EBC brakes for over five years now and strongly believe in the Oversized OSX front rotor, 91´«Ã½ rear rotor, and MSX brake pads.

“We are striving to do better than last year, more mains, more points, and better placements. Major goals would be to make the top 20 in points at the end of the year and crack the top 15 a few times.â€
